The hours (3AM-7AM) that no work is being performed are probably THE hours that work should be performed! what am I missing? It seems to me that 3AM to 7AM are probably the only hours that have minimal traffic!!

It means he came into contact with cruiser while fleeing on foot. It's too bad he didn't run into the cruiser a little or a lot harder. After reading the charges these two have against them, it seems they are just a pair of useless losers. Jenkins is 19 and beat up his two younger sisters? booo. and the other guy raped a child? booo. get them off the streets for good.

In response to: What are YOUR pet peeves?
speaking of route 134- many, many pet peeves of mine also happen on that road. most notably how congested and jammed both intersections with lights by Patriot Square and the road to the dump often get. My peeve is the idiots who just HAVE to pull into the middle of the intersection even when there is a jam and no room for them to do it because they don't want to get caught by the red light. stupid. why can't they just do the honorable/intelligent thing by acknowledging the traffic jam, stop at the line and just wait it out until the light changes for them again? let the jam lighten up- too hard? Wouldn't it be worse to be the douche bag blocking everyone than having to sit through a light?? am I crazy? God help if emergency vehicles need to come through when those intersections get like that. I avoid Rte. 134 on weekends and in the summer, only going if I have no choice.

In response to: Enough already with the Michael Jackson distortions
It actually means nothing in M.J.'s favor to say that "he was acquitted." The only reason why M.J. was acquitted that I'm aware of is because they settled out of court. (I heard that one settlement was around $20MIL. If you're innocent why would you pay THAT much to just one of the accusatory kids??) M.J. and the media frenzy most likely broke the boys and their families down.

I've had Weird Al's "Eat It" in my head for a few days now. "have a banana, have a whole bunch..it doesn't matter what you had for lunch! just eat it! just eat it! Whoo!!"
Sad for the passing of an extraordinary talent at too young of an age- but that's it. That's as far as my sympathy can go. I really feel in my gut that he did molest those kids and for that I didn't like him. To me he became creepier and creepier as time went on. He was really freaky looking in life, very hard to look at. (he must have known he was a monster and turned his outside into his inside? I don't know.) I can't imagine having to have been the one to perform the autopsy on him. I would've been plagued with nightmares for months after that I'm sure. And if I am wrong, and if those kids who knew things about M.J.'s privates that they shouldn't ever have known- were wrong....Then only his enabling employees and family are to blame for his death? That doctor better lawyer up fast if he hasn't done so already.

In response to: Recession relief at Sam Diego's in Hyannis
My husband and I were great fans of Sam Diego's but the last several times we went there (we go about 4-5 times a year) we've noticed that the quality is down. The servings are smaller and kind of slopped onto the plates, the coffee is very bad and no more sliced black olives on anything I'd rather the (habanero as a garnish go away and black olives return):(. However the very addicting fried ice cream and friendly waitstaff is what keeps us going back. Maybe we need to call in Gordon Ramsey to revitalize it?

hahaha fun post balognasamich.
but:
A guy who can't grasp the concept that I am looking at him with horror for the safety of the neighborhood children and not with awe over his souped up truck is nothing but a tool. He would be useless to have around and is hardly worthy of a delightful peek at MY truckstoppers!!
lol
05/08/09 @ 7:27 am
note: when the boy was about to cross, that truck was over 100 ft away, but I still had to tell the boy to stop. that's how fast this loser goes! he came up so quick- there is just no need for this- what a jackass.
05/08/09 @ 7:24 am
speaking of looking out the window- what does everyone else out there do about an antagonistic speeder in a private neighborhood? This guy thinks it's funny to punch it in front of my house. never mind that my house and the house across the street have small children at play. (there is a slow children sign) the guy doesn't live in our neighborhood, it looks like he drops someone off every afternoon. yesterday I heard his truck coming through so I looked out the window, sure enough he blew past into the neighborhood. My son (8) was in our yard waiting for his friend (6) who lives across the street to come over. I heard the truck coming back, blowing down the road so I looked out and the boy was about to cross. so I yelled for him to stop, and that guy came up so fast- he looked at ME, not the boys and laughed and waved, I saw his window was down so I yelled, "slow down!" he stomped it, and then peeled out so hard and so loud out of our road. What is this loser's problem?? I want to tell the police, but am hesitant because I don't think they will do anything about this. any advice?

I'm glad they wrote to leave shades blinds and curtains in normal positions in the crime prevention tips. I have always felt that the vacation/second home owners who pull all the shades and blinds shut when they leave were risking their house as a sure-fire beacon easy target to these creeps. The mentality of shutting the blinds for a season makes no sense because many of these guys most likely scope for targets during the day. Also, if the blinds are open at night a neighbor may better luck upon seeing a flashlight moving around in the home. Get to know your neighbors so they will make it a point to check out, pick up newspapers or generally just look out for your house when you aren't there.

People who are hired for these special needs jobs may on occasion have to deal with children who sometimes exert unacceptable behavior.. that's why the BIP should be in place. They know that sometimes this may occur with these children and they cannot for even one second lose themselves to their own emotions during any incident that is hard to deal with. They cannot take it upon their own emotion to punish, or show aggravation towards any of these children in any way. They go into this job knowing that sometimes it's hard. No way will I allow anything like this to transpire with my SPED daughter. NO way. Some people may not know, but the Autistic child doesn't know that she was being disrespectful or whatever by spitting, she didn't know that spitting isn't appropriate behavior- and it doesn't matter how many times you tell her. But I bet my last dollar that monitor and bus driver knew that they themselves were disrespecting the child by allowing their personal irritation and aggravation to control how they dealt with her. Shame on them. Hard job?? NO SH*T!

My 3 year old daughter is non-verbal and as of last week now is looking like she is Autistic- She hasn't had concrete diagnosis yet- but the neurologist who saw her believes she has Autism. This is scary for us and then we read about something like this- And this is one of my worst nightmares. My heart goes out to this mother and daughter and if that bus driver really assaulted this girl- that driver should pay- they should get jail time, fines and lose their job- never to work with kids again. Can you imagine someone taking advantage of a child who cannot speak? Who cannot tell her loved ones what is happening to her? What if it's a child you loved? My daughter is my world- this would be devastating to us. There needs to be better protection in place for ALL of our children from people like this.

You're right the yarmouth taxpayer- that is incredibly dumb- how do they know someone may not need those lights some night? What if someone's car breaks down and the person has to walk? Then that someone trips into a pothole and gets hurt or worse gets hit by a car that couldn't see that far ahead because there are no street lights! how much money is the town going to save when they are sued? what if the police have to chase down one of these burglers- now the safety of the police officer is further compromised (as if they didn't have enough safety issues as it is at night) because the town has given the suspect better chances for hiding and possible ambush of the officer. dumb.

Some the opponents need to understand that the longer they drag out may have a negative impact in how their businesses and selves may be perceived by the town and customers? it may do more harm than good to keep challenging this? Just a thought. I'm glad the building will no longer be vacant- it drags our delightful town down to have empty buildings. people don't want to stay and enjoy other things the town offers if it has empty building eyesores around. I know the only thing I ever go to Dennisport for is Job Lot- that's it. Haven't walked the main drag to shop in over 20 years. and now half of that is empty too. I wonder what's finally going into the A&P building and any opponents that arise from that are insane to bug anyone who wants to go in THAT building! :)

The unfortunate thing that now has to happen is questions on why a 22 year old man (or God help us- ANYONE) would want to be a coach. How do we begin to protect these children the way we are supposed to? Thanks to all the predatory losers like this guy the school systems need to be extremely thorough in choosing who teaches, coaches or whatever and to also implement stronger watchdog systems. (I know schools ARE careful now, but we are still seeing that many of these people are still getting to the kids this way. more work needed)The people who are in the position of hiring for these jobs actually now should ponder "why is this person really applying for this job?" It's a sad state of mind, and discriminatory as all hell, but in reality needs to happen to save our kids. I feel all of us parents also need to bite the bullet and just talk to our kids about what is acceptable behavior from adults in authority and what behavior needs to be brought to the parent's attention. It may seem like crying wolf, and probably uncomfortable for many of us, but better safe and informed than sorry?

I remember reading that one of the hillside stranglers- Angelo Buono's house was so fastidiously neat that the police never found any fingerprints in his house, not even his own. And he lived there for years. And it wasn't just him cleaning up after any of their crimes, which all but one were committed there- this was the way the guy was. So the OCD paragraph is probably right in tune with many criminals.

I love ducks. We had a trio of ducks: Huey, Dewey and Louie when I was a little girl. They were just cool little buggers who liked to swim in our pool. I've been a big fan of ducks ever since. No matter where we are, if I have the camera with me and I spot ducks- I have to take hundreds of pictures of them. Absurd- I know! But I've painted several pretty paintings of ducks from pictures I've taken. Ducks always look like they are smiling and each duck has their own unique personality. Thanks for sharing. :)

The property isn't ideal for any of the "useful" (??) ideas Mr. Freeman has proposed. As a lifelong resident of Dennis, I like what Christy has come up with- the plan is very nice- the building is in keeping with the recent renovation the library had. And I don't like fear tactics thrust upon the Dennis residents for personal gains. I don't like the snotty "bringing there here" comment in the Crosbys' and Brennans' plea to the public. The intersection of Old Bass, 6-A and Hope Lane has always been high volume and very dangerous. (people end up taking scary risks to finally get out onto 6-A from both roads) I think accusing Christy at this point of selling out after already having sold his business for 33 Mil, is too late. whatever could he ever gain now from sale of the site when he has already hit paydirt extreme? A better idea would be: Would Christy help the town set lights up? or somehow make the intersection safer for pedestrian traffic? I feel the create more traffic argument is a moot point, as ANY business that goes in will create an amount of traffic in and out of the site.
03/06/09 @ 11:53 am
I'm only going from memory of things I've heard over the years- I am 40 and used to work for Christy's and the Crosby's at D.P.M. The store was originally the I.G.A. and was sold to the Terpos's in the late fifties or late 60's I believe. The terpos family created the Dennis Public Market name. Then sold to Christy's in the early 80's. Crosby's bought it in 1990 or 1991. The original structure is the section up and down that housed the pizza place- it was built at the turn of the century. the the middle section was moved from another location and attached to the pizza place section. The rest over right (with the ramp) was added on later. There are 3 apartments upstairs- I lived in all 3 at different times. Christy used to house the irish kids up there in the summers too. I have no clue when the barn out back went up. I would really like to see a gas station put back, but I don't think the convenience store is necesary because we already have 2 along 6-A Dennis, but we only now have just 1 gas station. but whoopie pies may sway me? :)so whoever comes up w/ the best whoopie pie wins?

I remember back in the early nineties before Martha Stewart's fame exploded an extremely upset woman on Oprah screaming at Martha Stewart about how she couldn't keep up with Martha's calendar that appeared in the first few pages of Martha Stewart Living! And there were others (fans obviously) in the audience who were getting mad at the ridiculous Martha basher and ones who seemed to be in very strong agreement with the screaming fool. How pathetic!! Obviously there are those out there who have no scope of what's really important in life, that they need to call attention to themselves and their pathetic lives by being obnoxious haters of people who achieved extreme success. And the worst the media can do is actually GIVE the haters any attention at all. The thing that gets me about people who do hate stuff like this is: It was more important to this idiot to make a frivolous hate website instead one that would actually help enrich society? she should be ashamed of herself.

Bethany, You are so cool. I wish I had the guts to keep bees! I'm curious about a few things: Do any bee keepers around here lend out their bees to people with lots of blooming trees and plants? I heard of something like this years ago, but didn't know if people really did this around here. In times when the crop is good, do you ever sell your homemade honey? Also, do you ever try to play with the flavors of the honey by planting certain flavorful flowers? What if you made a nectar for them with a lavender flavored sugar? that sounds pretty tasty? Now I want a cup of tea, I always have honey in my tea! :)

Bruce, As a hairdresser, I am really interested in anything you can write about non-compete agreements. I understand the need for them, and I feel that some shops take it too far with how many miles away from a shop one can work should they leave. I find that this interferes with a person's right to earn a living? However if I bought a shop I would want to have the seller sign a non-compete where they couldn't set up a new shop within a 2 mile radius of the one they are selling me. I don't feel 2 miles is out of line, but I know some shops will put in 15 miles or such to employees &/or booth renters- I feel that's excessive.

I had a 55 gal on a stand that my ex-boyfriend left behind when he moved out. Inside was a large fish I named "clodius". (the spelling will become clear when what follows is read)He was big- almost a foot long, black and silver stripes- but at anytime he could lose his stripes at will and become either all black or all silver greyish. All I remember about what kind he was is that it was an african type that had 3 long words to it's name. (I found out at capemaid farms....years and years ago) In any case Clod used to freak out when ever anyone walked by the tank too close. He would frantically try to go after the person. The majority of the times he did this he would rush up against the glass and knock himself out. he would float to the bottom unconscious and then after a short time come to. shake and swim off. heheheee. THAT is how I came to name him "clodius"!:)He lived for years- a long time. You guys should have seen the scrubber I used to scrape the sides- he attacked that with such vigor that I would end up with water all over me and the wall. crazy clod!

I had a beta named habib who lived in a very large brandy snifter for 4 years. he moved 3 times with us, From N. Attleboro, to Buzzards Bay and then onto my home town of Dennis. And I always used tap water with him, never bottled water. I always put him in a rocks glass filled with his old water when I cleaned out his home. After I finished cleaning I'd fill the snifter up with new tap water & then would dump him and the old water from the rocks glass into the new clean water. he was a tough little bugger.

Yes, it was his thinking and actions that got him in that situation but what conditioned him to think that way? his drug peddling family and the crappy wanna-be thugs around him, and the glorified excess lifestyles they get to see thanks to shows like: Cribs, My super sweet 16, etc. And life is never fair, not every kid can grow up to be a rock star or be born into a mega rich family. After school jobs will take forever to get the goods because remember this society we are in now has become extremely impulsive and self centered. And no one wants to start at the beginning, and earn it. Crusader the obvious in the bottom of your post is this: Yep, you grew up with (just) a black and white tv, but how many around you didn't even have a tv? How many wanted what you were able to have? but didn't have the means? It's all the same- it's just on a grander scale now and the adults at home are supposed to help clear up the confusion between reasonable expectations of what is frivolous and what is really worth having. This family failed both kids in a big way- God help them.

He was still just a kid. I remember being 16. Did I deal drugs- no. But even if I did- would I have deserved to die like this at the hand of a sibling? His family did this to him and just what did they expect would ever happen to any of their kids? Everyone would continue in the footsteps of Dad and uncle and live happily ever after? He was only slightly closer to being an adult than the one who betrayed him the most. Mav, back off. I stand by my thoughts on this horrible tragedy.

What matters is he was a 16 year old child who suffered a brutal death at the hands of his brother and "friends".

Who is to blame that he dealt drugs? his family- they created the life and he lived it. but he was still just a kid who died because of unthinkable betrayal by his blood brother. The funeral story doesn't glorify his crimes- it tells about his preventable death and about useless thugs who did this to him and no doubt will most likely someday get out and do this again.

Maybe there needs to be more focus every year on Nicole's law to help avert more deaths from CO poisoning? I haven't heard anything yet this year about Nicole's Law. Also: it seems that landlords etc. are being given an extremely long grace period for not having to have them installed yet? Our landlord plays completely by the book and she hasn't said anything to us about them, so I am guessing that it's not being enforced? the law has been in effect since 2006, I think. We installed our own CO detectors- we have one in the basement and one in the hallway. And we are taking them with us when we move.
12/22/08 @ 2:24 pm
When I was 25, I had a similar experience. but I woke up because it was natural gas, not CO. I lived in a small 2 bedroom house that was heated by a furnace under a large grate in the floor of the hallway. One morning I awoke with a start around 4:30-5 am because the house stunk of gas. As I ran out the bedroom I glanced down at the grate and saw the flame was orange. I shut off the thermostat and threw open my kitchen door. I left the door open and ran to my neighbor's house to call the gas co. (I had exposed wires in the phone jack- call me overly cautious?) The house had a crawl space under it and the gas guy went in there to find out what was going on. He said a mouse got into the furnace down there and must have gotten overcome by fumes. It died blocking the gas line. he also said that the crawl space was completely full of gas. Thank goodness they put the smelly additive in natural gas that woke me. In what we know now of these kinds of dangers, it's a shame that this man did not have even fire alarms, never mind Co alarms. I feel bad for his family, so sad.

In response to: We Say Merry Christmas
txcaper- Merry Christmas to you. I think that if we all just start saying what it is we practice to eachother to convey what our own personal spirit is then it will become accepted as that. People should understand that instead of finding offense when a person wishes someone else "Merry Christmas" instead say back what you practice. i.e. one person says "Merry Christmas!" and the answer they get is "Happy Hanukkah!" or "Happy Kwanzaa!" We need to remember to embrace diversity not create new things to get pissed off about. And goodwill among men is just that- regardless of race creed or sexual orientation. it's simple- really. We are all in this together and it only works if we can respectfully accept eachother. Some people may fearfully call it "holiday tree", but to me it is a Christmas tree. Who am I to demand that it stay a Christmas tree and who am I to demand that it now be called a Holiday tree? If we just trust eachother and learn to lighten up a bit- then maybe every year we can all just have a nice time during the holiday season without fear of ticking someone off??

From what I think I understand: Muslims only fast from dawn to dusk during one month called Ramadan (sp?)And according to Wikipedia it was celebrated this past September? So this isn't a goof up. Read the other blog that had been published here a few days ago regarding fasting for a cause to learn more. I think these kids are doing a great thing- they are learning so much about the world but more importantly it is shaping them into being appreciative for their own lives. Way to go kids! Your parents must be button burstin' proud- I would be! :)

I buy most of my presents online.
The people who were in that stampede that killed that poor man should or must be mortified. My God! How could one of those people even look at the stuff they bought from that Wal-mart without throwing up? It's absolutely horrible that something like this ever happened at all. If people don't learn from this- next time it may be a child. Mass hysteria of this sort should bring shame to us all and there are far more important things then getting into Wal-Mart in a ridiculous frenzy to buy crapola that no-one really needs.

I'd rather pay a higher interest rate which can always have the opportunity to be changed in the future than pay more than what a house is really worth. Many people overpaid- now they have no equity and if they are succumbing to financial difficulties- there will be no recourse like Possee is saying. the e-mail I got early this morning from U.S> Dept. of Treasury says the gov is buying 40B in AIG stocks. unbelievable.... maybe they should also buy some stocks in that rip-off SPA!?!?

And people who can wait to buy- you should do that because better houses are coming on all the time And that is where those costly upgrades will matter! Some of the houses that are coming on as foreclosed are the properties that were obvious "flip" properties that ran out of money. This is where you find the luxury tubs in mediocre houses in mediocre neighborhoods. Don't be fooled by silly upgrades and wait for the real biggies in the GOOD neighborhoods to come on! :)

In response to: Real estate sales rise, prices fall on Cape Cod
problem is: many of these "greedy sellers" were also taken by seller greed when they purchased the houses for waayyyyy too much money. Now they are trying to sell without losing. The houses that are selling are the ones listed around $225 and under. Granted most of those are going for more than asking- but it depends on the location. Real Estate bubbled around 300% home sale value increase from 1998- to 2006. It has to correct itself and now it is doing just that. People who don't have to sell- shouldn't try right now. If your house is in an area that isn't the most desirable you won't get what you want or need. stay put. And those who have to sell- you're in for a surprise because none of those costly up-grades really matter in this market unless your in the exclusive luxury market range. (and many of those are sitting as well....)The way to list the house is lower than everyone else in your area and watch it happen. We are having a heck of a time buying right now because we are always getting outbid- so the buyers are out there. they are just looking for more reasonable pricing.

It's not feasible to expect that the shelters hold onto every greyhound until adopted. What is supposed to happen to the other dogs people leave there? Just kill them because they are not greyhounds? The way I look at it is this: now Massachusetts won't be contributing to the problem of over-breeding greyhounds. Too many are bred each year for one purpose: racing- and not every greyhound born would be used for that purpose, thus creating a ton of unwanted dogs. That is the main reason why I voted to stop it.

Is the Harwich house empty too? It looks like someone attacked the light that used to be on the pedestal to the left of the gate and the gates were open the other day too- which is odd.
His family must be so embarrassed if they really didn't know he was a thief. Every year the Windles use to host Christmas parties and a couple of years ago he had an extravagant surprise birthday cook out for his wife. Compassion in society today is at an all-time low. Many people feel that as long as they got theirs- then screw everybody else. what a shame. And others are afraid of what they don't know or fear. I think it's reasonable to expect that most of us would fear being homeless. I do feel that some of the business owners are being extremely unreasonable, after-all right now: business sucks or is down EVERYWHERE regardless if they have homeless wandering around or not. The homeless who commit crimes need to get in trouble like anyone who commits a crime. However it is not a crime to be in a public place enjoying yourself or sitting with your friends. It is discrimination to expect that it's rightful to ban the people who dress differently or look dirty or appear as they are homeless.

Ned they can't do that the bottle redemption laws are that any store selling the brand you pay deposit on has to take them back. I'm assuming that you are coming in with a little bag here not 6 bottle full bags- right? Obviously they are by law supposed to take those bottles back. but they can have limits of how many and they don't have to take what they don't sell. Don't try to return GROSS dirty returns- it's horrible what people will bring in. When I worked at the stores I have seen bottles with what looked & smelled like throw-up in them, cigarette butts, ants all over them, maggots, (I mean why would some one actually put these in the back of their car or keep them in their house?? UGH!) And it's crazy but many of these were tourists bringing their bottles down on their vacation to get money for them because they couldn't get money for it in their own state. And there were brands I have never heard of- I had one guy throw the bag of cans at me because I couldn't take that brand. People can take it too far- The bottle law was a good idea but it sure is hell to deal with

If they don't get it from our income then they will get it from us some other way. Do we want to pay tax when we purchase clothes and food for our children? No. but they will start taxing us on stuff like that. And guess what? we can't regulate that- if our kid has to eat we can't say "well today you can't eat because I'm trying to show this nasty MA gov't. who's boss!!" or "sorry your pants have a giant rip in them, but I'm controlling how much tax the MA gov't. gets from us today. So you will just have to live with it." Nothing will be free anymore, you will have to pay to get into places you never had to pay for before. Inasmuch as I would love to have that money for us- it would come in handy- it is just not a good idea to vote State income tax away. Look at some of the towns in this state that already have high tax rates in place. Raising property taxes would wipe out a lot of homeowners. And you know that is the first thing that will get raised. Bad idea: leave the income tax the way it is.

why would they do that? It is NOT OK to kill your kid, period. I don't believe that she did this because of depression. However I do think the reason was that Colleran was looking for the attention that Andrea Yates was getting at that time for killing her kids. What an awful thing to do- they should keep the punishment as it was- the crime was heinous. My parents, their friends and the parents before them, have all done it and made it work. People around here need to learn trades- Everyone here can't expect to have a Boston job on Cape Cod. (Although now the Cape has Boston housing pricing with NO Boston pay....GO FIGURE!)And the only void the foreign help filling is them working at all of the small businesses on the cape for a lot less money than the residents here can work for.

Democrant- I actually do think that there is a workforce here that will sustain it. Look at how long that line of people applying to the movie production company in Plymouth was.
The problem though with the median income levels is that it's out of touch with reality: A family of 4 living under 62k a year on Cape Cod is barely making it.(make no mistake: this is GROSS income.) A house here large enough for a family of 4 would give them a monthly mortgage payment of around $2500.00 a month. (nice affordable housing- eh?)Add: gas,car payments, food, clothing, heating, electricity, daycare or pre-school, general home maintenance costs; i.e: trash, yard, misc. repairs and that family barely has anything left for Christmas, birthdays or any extra-curricular activities for their kids.
To do this down here they need more than one job each, because these little businesses can't give them a full 40 hr week to make anything that will actually count. And Savings? down here? not on your life! The kids in those families had better get scholarship awards if they want to go to college!

Many people on the forums are confusing the label "illegal alien" for all foreigners living and working here. They are not all illegal aliens. However, when an illegal alien is busted- isn't (or shouldn't) it be first priority to ship them back to where they came from?
The problem with the economy on Cape Cod as I see it, is that the cost of living down here outweighs the wages. Most of the businesses down here are too small to sustain a good number of employees year-round. And the people who live here need steady long term employment set at higher than min. wage to survive. The minimum wage and national poverty levels are way off base for the reality of residing on Cape Cod. Payroll alone can knock out a small business really fast, never mind all the other costs of doing business.(like the .20 cents hikes per case bridge fees, etc. etc. etc.??) Until something changes in the way Cape Cod allows bigger businesses to open down here, we are always going to see the empty trashed out buildings along 28 and rte 132 and families moving away.

I agree with buzz- Can't we just look at it as it was: A failed attempt at saving a manatee's life? It was nobody's fault and everybody who was involved in the rescue should be appreciated for trying.
Obviously this young male manatee- missing an eye and a flipper, who got lost up here, (of all places!!) had something wrong going on with him. It was probably a major fluke that he made it this far north to begin with given his condition. The odds were a long shot. obviously.
Now if this ever happens again I'd like to see all the people on the forums bitching that the rescuers didn't do a good enough job in trying to save him to next time do it themselves! Not everything is born of some idiot conspiracy and not everyone deserves to ripped to shreds for just trying against all odds.

Jcape, Did the zooquarium get new sea lions? I haven't taken my kids there this year because I felt that for what they charge it wouldn't be worth seeing lazy fat overfed farm animals lying around? To me it's only worth it if we can see their sea lion shows- which were always exciting. But the last I heard they had no sea lions or seals?
Capecodster- they said that the manatee was already showing the first signs of hypothermia when they got him on the truck. He was lethargic and skinny. I think they did what they could given the circumstances surrounding Dennis's predicament. It was reported that the IFAW truck was undergoing repairs in the south and was unavailable. They tried to get an airplane to no avail. If it had been a week or even a few days sooner it may have had a better outcome. But they couldn't get transportation for him, until they got the U-haul. Unfortunately it seems he encountered bad luck. RIP: Dennis!

underage sex: people under the age of 18 having consensual relations (with eachother).
Rape is a control/power issue for the perpetrator. and technically not even really a sexual issue at all. It was forcible rape! It wasn't even ANYTHING having to do with her no matter how much Cru and bittersweet try to blame the victims. She could be running down the road naked and you know what? NO-ONE has the right to jump her. NO ONE- especially an adult.
As far as underage sex as I know it-see above in this post for description: Boys and girls both need strong information about their bodies and the opposite sex. Sure we can cop out and just blame the media for a blase society- but it ALL begins at home. We are the most important educators our children will ever have- And nothing about sex, puberty, the opposite sex, self esteem and self respect should ever be taboo or unmentionable to us. If we don't instill self esteem and knowledge the why's and what's of society and life to them ourselves then we have failed them more than they can ever fail themselves.
10/02/08 @ 11:30 am
He raped her at Wixon? Can we let him go and have the cops shoot at him again?
10/02/08 @ 9:04 am
buzz, my post is in response to bittersweet's ridiculous cave-man like rant about little girls. This guy is obviously a loser in my book- too bad they didn't hit his femoral artery.
10/02/08 @ 9:01 am
How old was he when he had sex or raped the 13 year old girl? Was he also 13 or maybe 14, maybe 15? to me that there would make a difference in whether or not the girl may need to be held accountable for her actions?? Any boy over aged 16 that shows interest in girls 13 yrs old or younger need to start hanging out with girls their own age. I don't care what they look and act like- they are still little girls. When I was 13 I looked 18, yet I never had sex until I was almost 16 and a half. And only with the love of my life...so I thought. That is what those years do to you- you look for prince charming and easily fall in love. I've fallen in love many times and I'm no different than other girls/women. So to me, teaching girls about sex, about their bodies and the opposite sex is important. very important. If parents don't then the child will flounder and get involved in things that children just shouldn't be getting involved with because they don't have the emotional capacity to deal with it.
10/01/08 @ 9:13 am
well, I for one believe that all sex offenders who prey on children should be shot in the penis, if not outright killed. the level of which they are tagged means nothing to me- a sex offender is a sex offender period.
p.s. thanks for the info Buzz:)

Usually families of these type of victims always downplay the troubles their relative has to gain media sympathy? I wondered about the relation because I don't see the brother's name anywhere in the story? note to the throat jumpers: I'm not saying that this guy is bad if he is or is not related to the level 3- I'm just curious is all. not assuming anything.

I hate having to rely on inmate justice because our own justice system gives criminals more rights than they do for victims- especially children. When are these people going to pay for their crimes- Where is the judicial system's empathy? I have no faith in the courts down here when it comes to these bastards, they always give them light sentences and many don't even get classified- even when it's obvious they should. me too. And if we quickly vote in to have a wind farm in the sound- then we may miss our chance for having them ourselves? The romanticism to me of being able to "save the planet and money" lured me to believing that the wind farm is the answer. But is it another corporate kick in the ass to Cape Cod? Look at the Electric plant on the canal- it doesn't provide us our electricity and it certainly does not emit that Cape Cod charm many are trying to preserve. We get our power from New York? Why? we have a plant right here...I was either a small child or not born yet when that power plant went in. I've heard that the promise was made to Cape Cod that it would supply it's power. so- why doesn't it? Some of the people in Kentucky or somewhere like are mad at us for not already getting the windfarm in place- why? because the windfarm we will have to deal with will supply them with power? huh? I am probably WAYYY confused? or maybe not? fool us once shame on them- fool us twice- shame on us?

Christy, how are the turbines working for you? Are you finding that they are cutting costs of running the stores that have them? Have you yet come to any conclusions about them? Are they able to sustain the power needed to keep the coolers running? or are they just powering stuff like the registers, lottery machine etc. I'm just curious- because at first I wasn't sure how I felt about them- but they look fine and I hope they do work. Eventually it would be nice for homeowners to have the option of having a "personal turbine" (lack of a better description?) thanks in advance for any info. :)

why not just always offer competitive prices without the fanfare? It's been said that Christy's gas prices are higher than a lot of other stations- so why not just lower the prices across the board instead of having to have a promotion for .20 or .30 cents off (after you spend $50.-$100.00 on other things)?? Seems simple enough to me?? if the prices are competitive enough on their own the customers will come. I never used any of the coupons from the Stop & shop promotion. I still went to the gas station I always go to- because the attendant is a sweetie and the prices are better than the others in the area.

In response to: H2B or No H2B? That is the Question
the problem lies in the amount paid vs. the amount needed to live. most locals I know sure are hard workers, and I am one of them- it is not beneath me to unpack tractor trailers, stock shelves etc. Ring people up, cut meat, sweep and mop floors. It's not that Americans are really unwilling to do the work it's that the pay sucks. To a H2B worker $6.00-$8.00 and hour is wonderful but to us: It's a kick in the head. How do you raise families or even just survive on that kind of pay? You don't. So people move away- but remember demographics are pretty much the same all around- the wages are lower than what's needed to actually live- everywhere. And many people want to be white collar workers because for some reason someone sitting at a desk makes more money than someone busting their ass pumping gas! What's wrong with this picture? To me the most important job of all is raising kids- but if you have to work 60hrs a week how do you raise them right? something has got to give because it's not normal for real estate to raise about 300% like it has in the past 10 years.
09/16/08 @ 10:42 am
I agree and most likely the thugs will be looking down when they come through. the trick is to have the ones they know about pointing down like they do but also have installed unnoticeable cameras set at a different angle. I think because the people walking through are already aware that they are being filmed would make it ok to have another "secret" camera set up as well. The stores wouldn't be breaking any laws then, I think.
09/15/08 @ 9:17 am
oh. thanks for clarifying for me- Lack of coffee made me misunderstood. That would be crazy if it had gotten hit 4 times. But really, even once is pretty bad. I guess those cameras they installed in each entry way mean nothing to the thugs- eh?

Wow. I had no idea that there have been 4 robberies at that bank in Stop and Shop. Shouldn't Stop & Shop now remove the bank because it poses a threat to their employees and customers? It's bad enough to see the druggies hanging around cvs and in the parking lot. Now when I go get groceries I have to watch out for Jesse James wanna-bees instead of only just druggies and purse snatchers? I swear I am more on guard for trouble shopping at Patriot Square than I am shopping at Cape Cod Mall!! sad plight for Dennis.

Editor's Note; It was the 4th robbery on the Cape in 6 weeks, not just at that bank branch.

I remember the news reports when they arrived at Otis. The news stations were filming their reporters walking around talking to the people who were there. They came up to one woman volunteer who said something that made me almost lunge at the t.v. at her. She claimed that any people who didn't go to Otis to volunteer at least 4 hours a week were un-American. I still can't believe they aired that- what a self-righteous jerk! Some of us can't just drop everything in our lives: kids, jobs etc. to save the Katrina victims no matter how awful we felt about what happened to them. And for those who could- Thank You. I personally feel that the bottlenecking at the bridges and the pain of driving on route 6 will totally screw up any potential movie activity down here. Most likely scenes will be shot in other settings that are easier to travel to and from and where they will be able to find enough rooms for the entire cast, crew, producers and directors to stay. The inconvenience of Cape Cod will most likely be too costly for production. Even a movie about Cape Cod would probably be filmed somewhere else and actual shots of the Cape added in afterwards when they edit and create the movie?

About 14 years ago I used to sell my crafts and artwork at the flea market at Wellfleet drive-in. There was a vendor a few tables down from me who had a tape that would play a few lines of "Old Cape Cod" and then a few lines of Patsy Cline's "Crazy". all day long..... Every Sunday, I'd hear this for hours and hours. In spite of this, I used to really enjoy working the flea market. I'd come home with my face actually aching from smiling at the customers all day long. And Sunday nights I'd have that tape in my head going over and over again until I fell asleep. Good times.

Has anyone successfully sued Rosie O'donnell over her blogs yet? If so- Our freedom of speech may be in jeopardy.
Instead of suing Mr. Robbins over such frivolity, Why wouldn't Mr. Dugas just let it be known why he was against the dredging? Certainly he must have solid reasons for not wanting the dredging to done- right? So then just voice them! And who gives a rat's butt on who disagrees or not? Or even say nothing at all? Why try such an egotistical move by suing a blogger for outing him in what was already public record anyways? And the lawyer: suing over childish name-calling? Haven't they heard of "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me!" ?? It's beyond silly to me that it was taken this far. He took off like a rocket...and then SMACK! face first into the fence!! hahaha I'll never forget it- he shook his head and slowly walked away. In response to: Forget the "quick fix" of incarcerating drug offenders
My husband and I lived in an apartment in B.Bay from 1999-2001. We lived beneath the apartment of a very busy drug dealer. I used to keep my blinds shut all the time because all sorts of scary people would look in our apartment as they were going up the stairs to buy drugs. I remember getting glared at by a really creepy girl as she was ascending the stairs. Finally one night we heard a huge BOOM! and the living room actually shook. It was ATF kicking in their door. The agents had observed a guy go in to buy drugs and decided then to make their move. When they busted him along with the dealers, they found that the guy had no money on him. He had a big knife tucked into the back of his pants. They also pulled a loaded revolver out of the apartment. The ATF agent said that it looked like the guy was going up to rob them. I'm glad they got busted before that went down. I was about 7 months pregnant with our first child when they were busted- really scary people up there. We told the agent Thank You.

My son and I have never eaten there (It's been there for as long as I can remember though.)We thought it would be fun and the food was good and fast. But my eyebrows went up when I got the receipt! I never said that- you did. You are the one merging "out of wedlock" with welfare- not me.
I for one am really glad to see the the SPED opportunities for those that need it at the D-Y schools. I also am very pleased to see the integration of the SPED kids in with the classrooms- even if it's only for a little while on certain days. I feel that it demystifies the SPED child's issue/s. I was the hearing impaired kid and boy did THAT suck as a child. I was called everything- deaf and dumb, handicapped...you name it. There was no empathy for someone like me- I've been told by many ill-informed people that I have "selective hearing". People need a better understanding of neurological and developmental disorders as well as the other "unseen" disabilities like mine. Every child has the potential to shine- and we within the communities do no justice to any of them if some of us are still cloaked under antique and unfair mindsets. I can't believe you actually think autism is a behavior issue. BTW:I am pretty sure that the aide with the autistic child is actually their teacher.
08/14/08 @ 1:16 pm
hoo boy! I didn't say you were racist- I said you were bigoted. The black facts here have really nothing to do with what I wrote about your posts. You really trust and believe the data you tout above on black people done from 1900-1950 as a realistic measure of all of the black people during that time period? "Of course they were much poorer than whites, but they were in stable households for the most part." where? on MARS? The majority of black people existing in the U.S. then were down south- where there was no education, no rights and the KKK. I understand the screw ups with the welfare plan- what else is new? But you cannot generalize the whole picture only by the bad examples of the system. You cannot generalize most boys in SPED are from broken/ unwed homes or that they ALL have behavior problems. Your posts come off as if you think you are doing everything right and those who live or think differently need to move away because they only compound the problem as you see it. And just why are your kids coming home and reporting to you which kids in class are receiving SPED?
08/14/08 @ 12:07 pm
Capemom, Are your kids are also in the D-Y school system? If so, why don't you take your own advice and move away yourself? I take offense at your above posts- I find them to be devoid of humanism and bordering on, if not outright, bigotry.
08/14/08 @ 8:08 am
Marco's first sentence above is exactly what I thought when I read Possee's post. Possee, you, like Woodbury seem to be banking on fear and insecurity to get a point across. One of the other things that I have been thinking about with this whole D-Y school system thing unfolds- It's hard enough to get many of the voters in these 2 towns to care about anything other than the DUMPS or the GOLF COURSES- Many don't give a crap about our kids- as far as they are concerned they already raised their own somewhere else- so who gives a rat's butt about the kids in their new home town? If this whole school thing turns into the disgusting ball of crap that Peter is implying then our kids are in trouble. Anything after this involving the school will be totally shot down by the voters. Is this where it was suppose to head? I hope not, but it looks like it is?
08/13/08 @ 7:50 am
I'm beginning to think that Ms. Woodbury is purposely employing "panic tactics" that directly affect our kids to get the parents all in an uproar of support for the budget or whatever. To me the latest panicky change in Yarmouth administration raises a red flag because what she wanted was approved....wasn't it? I for one still do not know which teacher our son will have for this upcoming year....(HELLO! first day of school is 2 weeks away from today! I've never heard of the school ever doing this...)We live in Dennis- and didn't Dennis approve all of the stuff for their schools for the year? So why would the turmoil in Yarmouth directly affect the schooling plan in Dennis? I think that if they really haven't gotten the teaching schedules together yet then it would be a clear warning to us all that the children and teachers are actually last in line for this school system. And THAT is what will get the parents in an uproar.

My daughter is in the special education program at 3 years old. She does not talk, or imitate, she plays the way she wants to. She reacts to situations the way she wants to. She is beautiful and very happy. Sometimes she will go "Uh-OH" as she starts to do something she knows I don't like. I see two really intelligent bright eyes looking back at me but she has no desire to imitate anyone. She is grasping some self-care stuff thanks to the quality of the SPED she is getting. I am grateful for the SPED strides D-Y school system has and are putting into place. Not only for my daughter but for my truly brilliant 7 year old who needs OT each week to strengthen his left-hand. These 2 kids are being raised the same way with a lot of love. I did the same things throughout each pregnancy and they are worlds apart in personalities and accomplished age expected goals. The saddest part about my daughter is that she isn't alone. There are about 8-10 others that I know of like her. I personally know SPED is necessary- 3 deans? probably not- but SPED? yes.

I like the able bodied people (caretakers- whatever) who drive the handicapped person's car to a store, park in the handicapped spot, and LEAVE the handicapped person in the car while they go in to shop. When I worked at a store many many years ago, I saw a woman do this almost every time she came to the store. The majority of the times the old lady stayed in the car in the passenger seat while the driver woman would go into the store. And they always took the handicapped spot for this. One day I was out collecting the shopping carts and they pulled in. So when the driver hopped out of the car I intercepted her and said something to the driver about it. She actually got mad at me and said the sticker was hanging from the rear view and that it was perfectly legal! lazy butt!

I thought the same thing.....I was pretty annoyed at the foolishness of these plates to begin with but when I saw that the charities affected were the cape baseball league and the chamber of commerce It really annoyed me more. I'd rather see the money go elsewhere as well- hopefully the food pantries will be stocked good for this coming winter which will be very hard for so many people- much more than usual thanks to the greedy oil companies.

I just have a question about the daily value of EPA & DHA. The capsules I take say 1000 MG with Omega-3 Fatty Acids. the back label says that the DV has not been established for EPA & DHA. is there a certain amount of each that we should be looking for on these labels? My label has EPA 360 mg and DHA 240 mg. Should these be higher or is this amount ok? Should I be taking 4 of these things every day instead of 2? it also has fish oil concentrate 2000mg. What would you recommend that I look for on a label to get a quality brand?

well that is why it was surprising to me to see what looked like a body in the car already. I don't know, in this heat etc. it seems weird that on a suspicious death pick-up that there would be another body in the car. Doesn't that strike you as odd at all? I mean how many people died this morning in Mashpee that put big demands on funeral homes to double up on pick-ups? Oh well. For whatever reason this guy passed on I offer my condolences to his family and friends. I hope he rests in peace.
07/14/08 @ 1:38 pm
There is no big deal- I thought actual pick up calls were done by local funeral homes. I wasn't even thinking about a trip up to Boston in a hearse. Wouldn't they have a refrigerated coroner's van for transport to Boston?
My comment about this was made because I was surprised to see what looked like another body in the car and did not believe that that is what I really was seeing- that's all.
07/14/08 @ 12:46 pm
did they really release that he was bloody? CCT said that the police said it looked un suspicious??

In response to: Foreclosures, a Pandemic
I feel some of this information is misleading- I'm reasonably sure that there are no homes (foreclosed or not) selling in Yarmouth for "little over $100,000.00" the market hasn't gotten there yet- the banks are still holding out for bidding wars and nothing in Yarmouth is selling that cheap yet- that I can see. Also something to note about these foreclosure websites- they don't purge old listings until you become a paying member. This considerably "ups" the numbers to entice people to join. I am a current member of forclosure.com and from what I can see, there are currently about 99 foreclosed properties on Cape Cod- Buzzards Bay to P-Town- all towns in between. The lowest priced ones being in the neighborhoods off of Bearse's Way Hyannis (not surprising.)The market got so crazy late 90's mid 2000's- people were buying homes at huge inflated prices because "they had to." Rentals were priced very high and there weren't many available, and the mortgage companies were approving everyone regardless of what would happen. Panic stricken 1st time home buyers certainly would believe a bank.

Inasmuch as I can't understand why someone would need an almost 7,ooo sf house (I'm one of those who can't) they have every right to build their dream home. Who are we to question someone for the American dream that we all share? My hope is that the owners try to make the house as green as possible and that the owners truly appreciate what they are able to have. As one who can't it sure irks me when I see those that can abusing their privileged life with a "who gives a crap about everyone & everything but me" attitude.

we have a lazyman country club grill that is probably 15 years old now- we LOVE it.
Lazyman grills are crazy money- really expensive...luckily, we got ours free from my parents when they bought a big flashy one from Sears. Our grill has an industrial triple burner on the side and 4 tube burners inside. This past winter we replaced the cooking grates and tube burners. I'm confident that the new parts will be good 10-15 years. Nothing else on this grill needs to be replaced- not a speck of rust anywhere. And we use it a lot and year round. (yes we have a cover) If you're looking to spend big bucks on a grill- google lazyman grills and check 'em out. They are expensive- but really do LAST! also: my mother told me that the flashy grill they have now doesn't even compare to the one they gave us in it's durability and function.

Danny, Thanks for the reply. your reference of the 40% vanilla extract brought back the childhood memory of the stack of cases of Cepecol (sp?) mouthwash my dad put in the utility room after he quit drinking. I don't know if the cases appeared soon after he quit drinking or at a later time. Dad hasn't had a drink in over 30 years that I know of. (I am 39 and don't really remember him drinking at all- not even from the pile of mouthwash- that stack was there for a very long time) My mother hasn't had a drink in about 17 or so years- My grandmother (Dad's mom)had a hand in getting AA down onto the cape. I have a quick question about not being able to control alcoholism with will power. I personally know that will power can be pretty weak sometimes in many areas, not just in alcoholism. But after joining AA, doesn't it then become that willpower IS what is keeping the alcoholic from acting on the urge to have a drink? (urge may be the wrong word and I used it for lack of better education in alcoholism on my part. So Danny, Please know that I mean no offense at all. I am curious and find your articles informative.) I also believe that the is an allergic reaction experienced by some people and they are unaware of it. I know a recovering alcoholic who would get plowed after only several drinks, and other people would drink the same amount or even more and be able to function much better than she ever did. I think an allergic reaction my be more true than "oh she just can't hold her liquor." in a lot of people out there. keep writing and fighting!:)

I've envied as I've driven by both that they were lucky enough to live like that. I used to wonder: "What do they have that I don't in order to make this kind of money?" Well, after all of this is said and done- they will have a lot less than what we have. And I feel very bad for their children- They are going to have to deal with a lot of crap that they otherwise never should have - Thanks to their dad's thievery. And how do you go from the utmost privileged life style to nothing gracefully at their ages? Do you think they are going to develop a chip or two on their shoulders? Yes Julie, I also find it very interesting. But knowledge or not aside, guilty or not- Jeannine loses, the kids lose. I think she is probably better off having stayed with him because she can plead the fifth. I don't know her personally but know people who do and they've said that he is probably safer in prison than with her, because she will kick his ass. Mentioned also was that he claimed a big severance pay from the company he worked for upon it being sold, and then re-hired by the new owners at a huge salary increase.
She may have not known...really. It seems that criminals are able to easily dupe the ones who love them the most. however, the blame probably lies 50/50 even if the loved ones are subconsciously helping themselves to be duped. And what does anyone think is really going to happen to this guy? He may get a 7 year prison term, serve 3-4yrs in a white collar prison where he will learn to play a good game of tennis, & possibly learn how to crochet cool ponchos and more importantly, meet people with like interests.

Looks to me like the thieves are moving on down Old Bass to areas where people still leave things unlocked?? South Dennis has been plagued with these car thefts for years now. So maybe the luck in scoring in S. Dennis vehicles has worn out for these losers? We've lived in this S. Dennis house for 6 years now & I actually freak if I think I've left my car open. Whereas the first 3 years of living in this house, locking up the cars was not the priority it is now. But I thought it was called "go to the post office 6 times a day posse"? lol I don't know why I'm being singled out by that poster dilligaf and I really know better than to let someone like that get to me. So the mystery lives on....
04/17/08 @ 6:02 pm
I understand the seriousness of this issue. But mostly what I am seeing on this "serious discussion" is people ripping each other apart on here because they have differing opinions. You may not think that the shoes mean anything- and they don't- really. However they are a curiosity here on CAPE COD. In Hyannis, Cape Cod. This site is called "Cape Cod Today". And Today I saw more shoes in an area that has always been known to be inhabited by homeless people. on...you guessed it: Cape Cod. I know that my contributions on this particular thread are lighter in nature then many of the other posters. In fact, maybe my curiosity about the shoes aren't as well received as hostile belligerent ones here and for that, I'm not sorry. I don't need to prove my intelligence or integrity by picking fights with people. Just because Buzz wrote a silly post to me, (they are creative I guess?) does not mean that you are vindicated dilligaf. It's just the way the shoes are set up that has piqued my interest. It seems that every few day there will be a different set. but always neatly side by side facing out only 2, maybe 3 pairs at a time. Sometimes they are men's dress shoes, sometimes womens sneakers. but always neat, and never the same pair twice that I know of. It never looks like someone dropped them off for the homeless. They are always set up the same, facing the same way. Like someone took them off and put them away. they look like a message of some sort to me. Sometimes there will be children's shoes. there seems to be no rhyme or reason or easy explanation for it. Always only a couple of pairs and the pairs are the correct mates. Call me weird- I just find it interesting. Has anyone else noticed them? I first noticed them about 5 years ago and it has never stopped. Sometimes a week will go by and I see nothing but then I'll drive by again and there they are a new set lined up neatly of shoe pairs.
04/15/08 @ 10:19 am
I don't think that people can legally do that. Wouldn't I then be littering? Is that the reason why some other people down here dump their mattresses and refrigerators on the side of Mary Dunn road? If they get caught- they can then say "I'm leaving it for the homeless."? Can someone with constructive information post replies to me? I'm not here to get into a holier than thou argument with dilligaf. Dilligaf is an unimportant side show to the information I would like to have about the shoes. I feel that there is some story to why they are there that I'd like to know about. that is the main point of my original post, not that I am an overly cautious, no water leaving, mindless twit that dillagaf seems to need me to be. ha ha ha lol.
04/15/08 @ 9:51 am
Wow. aren't you something! Do you know anything about the shoes? No? Then stop posting replies to me. dilligaf- well that was a stupid reply...hope you feel superior for it?
04/15/08 @ 9:11 am
Does anyone know the significance of the shoes that are always on Mary Dunn road? I use Mary Dunn a lot and under one of the overpasses there are always shoes neatly set. And the shoes are always changing. I was wondering if it was a method of communication from a homeless person to the people who know and care about them or vice versa. I've always known that those woods around Mary Dunn and Independence Park have always had homeless living in them. Sometimes I see them walking on Independence a lot. In the summer I always feel concerned that they are dehydrated and need safe water. I always want to just stop and give one a case of water but knowing that many are mentally ill and with me being a woman with a toddler always with me, I never stop. If anybody who reads this really knows what the shoes mean would you post it? I'd really like to know.

I've never been a fan of the Cape Cod Commission. To me they are inconsistent in the way they approach who can create businesses down here and who can't. My case in point is how many problems they gave Home Depot, yet they allow 4 different bed and bath type stores to build and open within the same quarter mile radius. GO FIGURE! And now they won't let anything in the old Starbucks bar? They gave BJ's so much flack (and still no traffic lights.....)that I'm surprised BJ's even went through with opening down here. Remeber they had to clean up some defunct Auto Body building across town? I personally think that the commission is as frivolous as the blue laws. heave ho- out you go!

oops! Buzz, you left out the crucial word: rough. ""hi I am your garbage man, would you like to have rough consensual sex??""

all of these idiot kids that are doing bomb threats etc. regardless of whether or not it's a hoax need to be automatically sentenced to community service of some sort of dirty job type status. Like cleaning up dog crap from a dog park or kennel, picking up litter on the side of the road in the winter. working at the dump..stuff that is gross and will definitely leave an impression that will get out to other kids that the ramifications of a prank such as this sucks so much that it's not worth ever doing the prank.

usps02651, I'm pretty sure that Keith Newell is her son. Robert Nunes however is just plain creepy looking though.

is this not hearsay? "Manso heard from Miranda that Gomes has said in the past"
I am also a little baffled at the new found racist aspects because I was under the assumption that the choice of who presides on a jury is decided by both the defense and prosecution sides. Considering that it was a black man accused of raping and murdering a white woman- wouldn't questions of racial bias have been presented to each and every possible juror during the juror selection/elimination process? maybe I am missing something? You'd of thought that it would have been the defense's first obligation to find a jury full of reasonable people who do not possess one iota of bigotry?

But this should fall under the "no child left behind" grant which would slash most parent's cost unbelievably. The no child left behind has set the poverty level high, which is more in tune with how people really live. (unlike the other poverty levels that are set way too low...that very few people can actually get accepted for whatever help they seek) People who would like their child in all day Kindergarten (or preschool! not daycare...preschool)should check it out.... keeping in mind that most of us would automatically assume we make too much to get on it- but that's not the case. So go for it.
