I know that you, the Binghams, and Paula Peters are behind this.
First of all, the big lie is that Bill wrote the constitution. HE DID NOT. It was written by the constitution committee with the help of Mark Tilden, an attorney from NARF, the Native American Rights Fund. On the committee was a Mashpee Wampanoag lawyer, Rudge McKenney of Newton. They labored long and hard to produce a onstitution.
Liars!
In response to: Wampanoags sue for return of Mashpee
first, read this:
http://www.capecodonline.com/misc/bingham_land_suit.pdf
then be assured, anybody (and I don't think there any) who lives on this land will more likely die from a meteorite hit than to lose any property...

But Native thinking did not prevail in the end. Land ownership is a fact.
In response to: Wampanoags sue for return of Mashpee
2. Federal recognition effectively extinguishes any other claim to succession.
3. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, through the Tribal Council, is the sole legitimate representative of the descendants of the "South Sea Indians," and is the only entity that can bring suit on behalf of its members.
4. The Binghams are seeking class status on behalf of the descendants of the "South Sea Indians," which they have no legal power or authority to do.
Of course, the Binghams can pursue the suit on their own behalf, but without class status, their shyster will run away like a scalded dog.

The Feds already paid off the Mashpee Tribe for any claims to the National Seashore
The Mashpee Tribe has signed an agreement not to sue for land in Mashpee, the only land that we have any legitimate claim to.
P1ss off with that 'reparations' cr4p. Lies, half-truths, and disinformation...

In response to: Supreme Court takes Indian Land suit
Cuz it ain't gonna happen that way. White guilt stops at their property lines. Do you really think the thousands of non-Indian residents of Mashpee would just give up their land? Then you are living in the same fantasy land as the others. Talk about your lost causes.
If you think we saw a racist backlash with the 70's suit, just imagine what could happen now. What would all this accomplish?
In response to: Supreme Court takes Indian Land suit
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe does not have 'clans.' That is a fabrication of some minds...
In response to: Supreme Court takes Indian Land suit
Recognition did not come about because of the land suit. It was the result of the diligent and persistent efforts of those who perfected the tribal genealogies, histories, and the petition itself. They were people like Russell, Hazel Oakley, the Coombses, Hannah Averett, Edgar Tobey, and many others. MiMI had little or nothing to do with it.
In response to: If gambling is the new buffalo, what does that make the Guv?
IANAL
If the goods in question are motor fuel, tobacco, liquor, or any other item subject to a tax or excise, and originate in the state, they will of course get those. The boundaries of a reservation can be considered the same as a state line. Mass. can't levy a special tax on items shipped to RI, e.g., in an attempt to recoup lost sales tax.
Where there may be conflict is when the aforementioned taxables are shipped from *outside* the state.
