Carlos-Alberto(boston.com comments) was onto something--from SCOTUSBLOG/Supreme Court of the United States Blog, "Argument Analysis, as Kennedy goes"..by Lyle Denniston.

"The case, at its core, is simple: is a crime lab report a form of testimony, so that the prosecution may not use it at trial to buttress its case unless the technician or chemist who prepared it is at the trial to defend the test results under cross-examination"?

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley had trouble from the outset drawing distinctions between eyewitness testimony for which confrontation is required and crime lab reports, as Justice David H. Souter, along with Scalia, pushed the point. She also failed to impress with a key point both in her brief and her oral argument: the Court has never had a confrontation case involving a lab report.

Before long, Justice Kennedy was stressing to Coakley the arguments he said she had to be ion making, and mildly chastised her when she did not do so".

Possee, Mav and I had plans for a steak dinner in Boston, and I would bet $5 bucks you and others had something to do with them not meeting me. That's fine. At least I can say I kept my word, but they allow others to dictate what they do without giving the person the benefit of the doubt. I understand fully. You must not be disloyal to those who run your life from the blogs. Just own up to it. At least I haven't backed out and I will never agree to an ambush. You don't think I know how some people feel about me? You think I really care? Well I don't. And they aren't "the good people of Cape Cod", that you cry about. Just have the guts to be honest about it instead of playing games. I don't have patience for school yard antics. Try to be an adult for a change.

Sounds a bit like...De'ja' vu...

"She responded that Calif. was one of the 35 states supporting Mass. in the case. But Chief Justice John G. Roberts, in an awkward moment, had to point out later that Calif. was not one of the 35. Pressed by Kennedy, Coakley said she had no substantive knowledge of Calif’s experience. “I don’t have enough information about the way Calif. works or doesn’t work,’’ she said.

That prompted Justice John Paul Stevens to interject, “Well, it seems to me it’s a very important point.’’
In addition, she had trouble dealing with two other justices’ questions over distinctions between crime lab reports and eyewitness testimony, and, at one point, Kennedy pounced when Coakley began to respond to a question. “That’s a nonanswer,’’ he interrupted, with clear irritation.

Lyle Denniston, a veteran Supreme Court reporter who observed the session, said Coakley fared “very poorly.’’
“She simply flubbed it,’’ said Denniston, who has reported on the court for more than 50 years for the Globe and other newspapers, and now writes for SCOTUSblog".

I don't recall making that comment the way you claim, but if I did it was probably in reference to what others have said about me, or most likely I was defending myself against the many verbal assaults I've been forced to fend off ever since I became their latest folly for a Cape Cod witch hunt. Seems like I haven't been alone.

As far as the cru in the buff portrait, that is between me and Ned, who has proven his unmatched talent who possesses a wonderful imagination. It takes a great deal of work to master the arts, whether it be music, writing or on canvas. Many can only dream of having such talents, few ever accomplish with recognition. Just look at the cru poster--I didn't tell him what to draw, only offered a few ideas. The sharp lines and curves was all his own work. Everyone knows that an artist takes something from the world but molds it into his own vision. A part of Ned goes into all his work. You have to know the artist to understand their talent. Get over your obvious unjustified contempt for Ned. It really is a raw wound that needs a thick band-aid.

Some of these comments about the AG are just TOO TELLING...she sides with Alabama on the death penalty? Yes, I'd say this is progress especially when they sentence a person suffering from severe mental impairments to death.

Have you seen the Globe Today? Get the barf bag...are they at all bias about who should be the winner? And the gays and women think she is for them? Think again. She's really just for herself and has zero experience to represent our state in DC.

Be sure to check out the comments after reading the nauseating article giving her more kudos than she deserves. And still, she will not admit the Fells Acre tragedy. What is her paranoia over Halloween candy. Once a prosecutor, always a prosecutor. I hear the CCTimes stated the Kennedy's aren't happy with her either, especially for jumping out before Ted was properly laid to rest.

Whomever the politician--Democrat or Republican, we as a people must remain in the process. That is why I am taking this time to engage in discussion with people following these issues in here as well as outside in the campaign office and at events, with friends who are also facing the same problems we all do. Whether it be job loss, foreclosure prevention, credit card strangle hold, medical bills, wounded soldiers who can no longer support their families, families who worry about their soldiers abroad, the patriot act, our liberties and rights...whatever it is, we are all in this together. The country has become divided in ways worse than ever before. It is time to take back what has been stripped away from us. Frankly, I could care less how they do it. It needs to be repaired and soon, before there are more families to suffer the consequences of the reckless actions of others. I'm not here to tell people who to vote for, I know they will all vote for who they think will do the best job. That's what made this place great once, but it is eroding unless Congress pushes back.

Well, thanks, it's mutual--our exchanges of the political turmoil are always informative and civil. That's the way it should be. We all have our moments, but some take it a bit too far. You never know who is reading your comments out there and sure, I've done my share, but what can I say, I'm a Somerville chick who tells it like it is. That will never change.

I'm from a place where we have our pride of being a working class city from Italian/Irish immigrants who settled here, followed by the Portuguese, Brazilians, Haitians, and other cultures from around the world.

My family has always been Conservative Democrats, so I'm torn. I was raised by fiscal conservatives, but providers to the poor & needy. Humanity comes first in my book and if we can't help our people, we will be lost.

What I mean by "both parties", is that there are good Dem's and good Rep's that want to work together to provide a sustainable future to their constituents across the country. But the rogues--mostly consisting of Republican party (what got us in this mess in the first place, under GW's watch)wanted the banks to fail, they admitted they are disgusted with some in their own party. What does that tell you! The pillaging has been going on all along, now that they got a big dent in their stock options, now they wake up to smell the burning toast!

I'm sure their phones don't stop from the outcries of many without medical coverage, jobs, homes and many other disruptive plagues facing millions.

I heard it all LIVE at the state house a month ago when rep's from around the state, including your own Cleon Turner, showed up to beg legislatures to assist with the many issues in housing they facing their struggling communities.

Where are those stories in the media? Was Cleon on camera? Must have missed it. Are you hearing the horror stories the local & DC pols must fend off daily? Doubt it.

I have attended several events with the Congressman and when he outlines it all in person, it is much different than what you get fed from the hand picked version on the networks.

The bottom line as I see it--the Rep-Rogues are acting like a bunch of cry babies because they finally got caught with their dirty hands in the trillion dollar cookie jars!

TOUGH SHIT. Time to pay it all back and then some to the struggling millions across the nation.

The good politicians(from both parties)are fighting for our future and the future of many generations to follow. They know what the deal is here and I applaud them for not going along with tossing this HCB out the window with the bathwater.

Since it is no big secret the media is owned by the corp right-wing fanatics who's only view is short-sighted tunnel vision, & self-serving agendas--it's already been made very clear:

They had two choices: Proceed with the healthcare bill as is, to include the Stupak amendment and have a very good chance to change it later--or

Toss it in the scrap heap for 10 YRS & continue on the same course. Who is deterring the process?

The networks will spin this to the point that everyone will be confused on all the issues when it comes time, on Dec. 8th. My opinion--REP party knows they don't have a snowball's chance in hel. to win on Dec. 8th, so they create chaos.

Capuano has spoken out against the war from the very beginning. I use to watch him on our local channel when he was interviewed. I was actually surprised he was so outspoken against the administration, at the time, and wondered how he weathered through the storm in DC during those eight long years. He's definitely a man of courage, strength and vision, in the face of adversity--has certainly proved it, time after time.

....there is however a distant family connection, he's definitely a man with integrity and works hard at his job to be the best he can be for the people of this state.

He has gone outside of his district to help others, because that's the type of guy he is--just down to earth and likable. You can tell he cares about people and wants to make a difference in their lives. You don't see that with many politicians today. I'm proud to have him as a congressman and I wish him the best. I know he will continue to work hard for his constituents and keep fighting for our rights and freedom.

bitter...Mike talked about health care & explained the complexities of the bill, said he will continue to fight for it & lots of other issues we face today.

"I want to change the world", he said.

I was really impressed with him-his honestly stands out, he shared experiences while debating with fellow members on both sides in Congress, while maintaining a civil relationship with all. He said he likes people, gets to know them, their families, their demographics, so when they debate about climate change, he understands why those who live in towns of steel and coal factories vote as they do.

He struck a cord with me: He entered Somerville High with a class of 1100, graduated with only a class of 400, of the 400, only 100 went to college.

Proves that anyone can succeed regardless of their lack of opportunities, but even he admits, can be a battle.

Just one more, about the escalating home insurance premiums for working residents of Cape Cod--if you don't mind inquiring and reporting back to jane who has the following question:

"Division of Insurance and rating bureaus could all do a better job at regulating the insurance industry in general and the MA Fair Plan in particular.

Our Legislators caused the homeowner insurance problem by voting Chapter 436 of the Acts of 2004 into law and have done nothing to correct their mistake".

I was reading up on the article about the anti-bullying legislation they are fighting to pass in schools. What horror stories about how these kids are being tortured in school. One hung himself, it got so bad. That is unbelievable. You wonder what these kids are seeing at home that they go to school and torture innocent classmates. The schools don't do anything about it because those who bully must have bullies for parents who strong arm the school. When my kids were in the private school their teachers lived very close to some of these bullies and their parents. Nothing was ever done about them. But the worst thing a parent can do is to ignore the problem. You must fight it head on and hold the teachers and administrators accountable. Same goes for the internet. It's a form of terrorism and all stalkers should be outed, disgraced and prosectuted.

From some reports, the AG should be more effective on consumer protection. I suggest you be persistent with her office. If you don't get any direct answers, try Delahunt. Hasn't any politician given you a direct answer on this issue yet?

Many politicians, protect the insurance companies because of donations. This is why we are having a major problem with the health care bill. How long have you been around MA politics? Is this your first crusade?

The Cape hasn't had a severe hurricane in over 30 yrs. What does that tell you? Of course they are going to raise the rates. They want more AIG residents living on the island. I know of one who paid for a lavish wedding just recently on the marina. They are banning abortion clinics and have stalled affordable housing. Why does that tell you?

If a severe hurricane were ever to hit the Cape, do you realize what a price tag it would be for the insurance companies if they have to replace your trophy homes. And yes, replacement cost is much higher than your mortgage or assessed value. It's not hard to figure out their motives.

If I was still living there, I'd be with you--I've got a good friend in Sandwich who has been following politics for a long time. He's also with Michael Capuano. Call Mike's office and ask one of his aides to find out where he stands on that issue. It may be more of a Delahunt question, since he's your Congressman, but I know Michael shares a office down the hall from Bill, since Bill told me a few years ago when we met at the JFK museum. I wonder where Bill's vote will be? Martha or Mike? That will be interesting.

I posted a link above in another comment with Mike's website and phone number of campaign headquarters is at the bottom. If you want, I'll check with my friend in Sandwich and ask him to round up some supporters for you since I know he must have some info on it. You should go to an event, ask questions, see how he responds. I've already been to one at the Park Plaza Hotel, last week and planning to attend others in my region. I've already made up my mind. And I know most people think it's because he's from my town, but honestly, if I didn't believe he would make a difference, in issues of health care, education, the war, jobs, crime, etc., it would not matter where he was from. I base it on his years of service and what he has done to our city before he left for DC.

Capuano did not flip flop, he is sticking to his commitment to push for health care reform, unlike Coakley and unlike Brown or the other candidates who are most likely backing the insurance industry.

Rose went to DC to blow the whistle to Congress, but by then the fleecing was done, Summers was already promoted and the real fun began when rumors of Russian mob and Israel had also been investing in the Housing Mortgage Fraud scheme. Nice, huh? And we worry about local mobsters, when the real hard core criminals are hiding their laundered money in global mortgages? Could that be the reason why the guy sitting next to Geithner wouldn't divulge to Congress WHO the overseas investors were that they were FORCED to pay back. The guy was practically pissing his pants, sweating a the brow. I was not employed by Harvard, btw. Did you hear about Picower?

As I said, before, Is that all you can dig up? That's a sad list of non-important things to say about the Congressman, if in fact they are true. As you indicated yourself, many times before, the MEDIA can and will distort truths. I would imagine a powerful AG and her 37 seasoned police officer husband have garnished a popular following. Fells Acres indeed. That was with Harshbarger, promotions abound, no apologies but three people who owned a daycare had their lives ruined forever. The mother died in jail, daughter out but in fear of having to go back, son is out or will be out soon? I lost track but saw the special on 48 hours. There wasn't enough to convict, but they did it anyway based on testimony of coerced toddlers by therapists. Let me guess--they were paid by the state.

The gay beatings in Provincetown were never properly addressed either or was there a complete investigation done. One victim lied on a beach for house with a concussion and had to get himself to the hospitial. There were others, some married men who would never come forward, also brutally beaten.

Launch an attack because of, "earmarks to military suppliers"...did he write a personal check or was this a vote by more than a few congressional members? Were the soldiers to do without supplies? You think that any of the other candidates would do better for the middle/lower class? You can't be serious. Who are you backing, Brown? What's his service? He's a rookie at best.

In order to make an educated decision that you feel good about, you must examine each candidates performance and type of person they are.

Michael Capuano is ahead of the rest in every way. No one else has his experience or his ability to work with opposing views in DC. He fits the model closest to Kennedy in terms of his dedication to the working class and the poor--(is that why you dislike him?) he has a proven record of getting the job done. He won't be a puppet like the others who cater to the corporations.

I'm not going to debate with you about who is the better candidate since it appears you have made up your own mind. I won't vote for her because of her record on crime. I don't believe she's done enough. Others complain of her lack of work on consumer affairs. She wants to be popular and won't fight against anyone who is a financial backer or political supporter. I've listened to her on the radio and she avoids answering questions about corruption at the state house. So what is she doing exactly?

Maybe you should get in touch with Barry Scot and ask him how much Martha helped his case, along with the long line of Provincetown gay men who have been assaulted over the years. If the Cape is planning to disallow abortion clinics, what else would you call it?

It looks to me like they are trying to find ways to force out the lower class. Do they think banning abortions will help them sell real estate to more Richistans?

Not coached, my own words. Mike is a Somerville guy, a family man and a good person who has values that many have forgot. I've stood by most of my Somerville friends in politics because they know how hard it is to work and provide for families, unlike the other politicians who only care about themselves and their fat bank accounts. He is a courageous man who has fought back and spoken out against the bailouts, while others stood silent. He even admitted on C-Span that he does not hold his money in their banks and demands accountability by the reckless executives who got us in this mess. How's your 401k these days? Is it healthier than it was last year, how about the year before? Mike grew up in the same neighborhoods as I have and worked his way up the chain. Too bad if they don't like his candid remarks. He's got the same no nonsense attitude that I know well and for many of us who have had to fight to keep what we have earned, we all know the struggle, what a fight it is to be middle-class, single mothers, those marginalized by society due to race, class, ethnicity.

I'm planning to attend another event, I'll ask the questions, but you must understand--since the health care Bill is still up in the air, how does any candidate know how this is going to swing? Fight for health care reform is a battle ground.

He is voting pro choice. Martha voted against the Bill altogether and if she had already been elected to the senate, we would not have a health care bill reform at all. How clear do you need it to be? Forget the particulars, I don't sit beside him in Congress and I don't read these bills.

All I know is since the health care reform has been on the table, the insurance company lobbyists are doing everything in their power to force it out. What do you think it would mean for the Republican politicians who count on insurance campaign contributions? There are probably some Democrats who don't want it either.

But Mike Capuano does want health care reform to go through and has worked hard on this Bill more than any other along with restoring regulation and accountability to lenders who have been responsible for most of the Wallstreet fallout.

Bill passed by two votes in the house….Martha would have been a NO vote and killed the Bill for health care reform.

Capuano & others went with the Bill because they want to push for health care reform and hope to change the abortion part later.

Hyde amendment restricts fed funding to abortion, which is redundant to Stupak.

Capuano voted on health care bill to include pro choice….they moved it to Senate vote without restrictions on abortions then to a conference commt…..house and senate reconciled differences….once a final bill….simple majority will have the vote.

Senate health care are currenttly reviewing two versions of the Bill……

You might be able to review them at the Library of congress website…..

I've been told by one of his aides that the best place to go for answers on these debated issues is Bluemassgroup.com. All senatorial candidates are listed on this website including audio interviews and how they stand on the issues.

The important thing to note--There is NO FINAL DECISION YET on the Health Care Bill. Abortion was used as a ruse!

If the Bill threatens health care coverage for abortions, yes, democratic candidates and voters would have a problem with this--isn't that obvious? They use it to pit against each other, as always. But that's not how it's truly defined in the bill. It's a ruse.

Abortion is one of those debates that sways votes--put a big price tag on abortions to stop the Bill. Hasn't this been going on all along, they keep rejecting it--ins. co's. fear single payor.

The Rep machine is grinding to stir up these debates because they hope to further divide voters to side with them. What else have they got? NOTHING.

If you tell a person, "under the new healthcare bill, you will have to pay for all the thousands of abortions", how many would vote for it? But as the Congressman pointed out--a majority vote is required, they all still have to vote on it. It's not a done deal. Why have a health care bill at all, if it's not going to provide essential coverage we ALL need? We all knew this race would not be easy. Of course they will do everything in their power to fend off votes to opponents.

The abortion issue is being used to stall and torpedo any chance at health care reform. The health insurance companies don't even want to pay for victims of cancer, let alone allow a woman to have an abortion. This issue is being used to further divide voters. It's that simple. It's a non-issue, because we all know that abortions will continue to be paid for--I believe they should find ways to lessen cases. Educate in schools and at home before an unwanted pregnancy occurs. But, no, just let it swell the waters of voter discontent, that way people will go out and cast votes on candidates they aren't even sure they want.

It should have never been included in the bill. It's simply a ploy to avoid the other more pressing issues. If you have been around politics enough, you realize that the media will manipulate the issues to sway votes. Paid by elite who own it--look at the source.

Congressman Capuano is holding "open mike" forums all throughout the state and he is fearless about debating serious issues we face today, statewide and nationwide, unlike the other candidates. Does Martha have open mike appearances? What about the other two no name political wannabe's?

A politician who is unafraid to meet with voters across the state one on one and answer questions candidly is something to be admired.

If you look at Boston.com comments, there are many who do not support her for a number of reasons.

I'm disappointed that women across the state are only voting for her because of gender. There is a lot more they should be considering before they cast their vote. Mike has a proven record and has been fighting in the legislative trenches for years for the middle class. I think he's one of the few left who is trying to maintain balance. He is not beholden to the special interests as others. But we all know how this works. You can't be a radical reformer. Change must come slowly with compromise.

I'm not surprised the abortion issue has been placed in a position that will now confuse voters. They will do anything in their power to see that the corporate elite maintain power in Washington.

If we must keep private insurance--then FINE! But gives us back our JOBS so we can pay for it ourselves then! They should not be able to have it all!

You got that right. I've got a family member, now deceased who proves it. They had lots of money, beautiful homes, even a blue uniform in the family for those late night OUI's..you know? Oh, the stories! And my own son got in trouble for being involved with two other boys tearing up an athletic field at their son's private school. They were 16. You know how their daddy took care of it? (not the first time either), he bought the school an entire set of new lockers costing thousands of dollars. That's how the rich deal with juniors mishaps. You think they learn any personal responsibility when dad pulls out the checkbook after their bad deeds?

If parents were smart, they would sit their kids down at age 12 and start talking to them about the pitfalls of teenage life. They are always bound to make mistakes and there is enough bad on both sides of the tracks to keep this topic on even ground. It's not all the rich, like it's not all the poor, but more impt--who benefits the most? The rich can pay their way out & hide it.

No, Tom, didn't miss it, but clearly you haven't met enough parents & children to be truly objective. I thought private was better than public schools. Funny thing, most of the married parents at private, more than a few hated each other as well as their own kids. They were more concerned with cultivating their own careers and forcing their miserable, spoiled darling over-achievers to squash anyone who stood in their way in and outside of class. I've met more well balanced families in the public sector than private--world of hidden secrets they don't share with the rest. Just beware of the pretentious crowd, they can be more sinister to your kids than the middle/lower class who don't expect to get away with their crimes as the enterprising white-collar junior scholars. The social aspects of a school environment can be far more damaging to a child who doesn't fit into the clique. Just keep in mind as your boys are in school. Not all of us had open minded parents growing up, we learn to cope with what we had-Cinderella fairy tales are not always a reality. Kids need love most of all.

Prevention and education is the key to unwanted pregnancies. I don't agree a woman should use abortion as a form of birth control. Maybe they should pass laws limiting abortions without putting this on political agendas. In cases of rape and incest, they should jail or fine the perpetrator. How about that? Does that work for anyone? Or is it still just only on the young girls/women to decide their own fate and of their unborn child? Just mull it over, if you can stand it. I wonder how many pregnant women ended up dead and buried before they could decide? There's another one to ponder.

The last comment about birthcontrol/abortion came from one of your own long time residents, in fact we had this very conversation early this morning on the phone as we were discussing the healthcare debate among senatorial candidates (abortion issue) and those were his exact words, "if a man had to have an abortion, there would be no debate, not even on the political agenda, just would be allowed". I laughed my ass off when he said it because it was so unexpected and this is why we have been good friends since 2002. Someone you should be proud to have living there on Cape Cod, who is generous to your communities. How many men would even consider such a discussion?

When my children were sexually active, they both received an education by me, not their dad who couldn't be bothered. I have a son and a daughter. I explained everything they needed to know about protection & consequences. Children can be resilient even in the worst of households. Those who you might think have the perfect child, perfect marriage, perfect home, just might fool you, so check behind the blinders first.

I was far more successful as a single mom--a threat to the religious right who oppose it.

A two-parent home is divine-only when it works. Many marry for money/status in a community that expects it, rarely for love, trapped in the confines of an artificial grassy-green suburbia.

Women were forced out into the workplace-one (male)didn't cut it, that was the beginning of the end. For decades, women have fought for the same rights as men; equal pay for equal work, voting, owning business, loans,etc. Appearances are deceiving, it's bull.

Obstacles still exist for many women-Economics & Education--the powersthatbe like it that way. Opportunities are rarely available, teaching children how to be respectful & productive is difficult if you never had a role model to teach you in the first place. If men got pregnant-birth control & abortion would be free! MANDATED!

Psychological abnormalities exist in abundance on that strip of sand. You should look into AA meetings dawg, they might help, then again, you might be another hopeless case in search of someone to get your frustrations out on.

There have been plenty of good people who have been ruined all because of this case. You think I'm the only one who still talks about it? Ha. Keep telling the readers what you want them to read.

Many know, but they fear the police and so they don't speak up. I do believe that one day this case will be solved, but it may take as long as the lady in the dunes. They will wait until everyone is retired and collecting fat pensions.

For the past 5 yrs, I have been trying to defend my own reputation against the daily rants of slander by some who comment on these blogs.

I have heard people condemn others who also have written the same and share of ongoing harassment they deal with all the time, as Busby did, as Michael Donovan and the jurors who spoke out against racial bias during the trial.

How many more must go through it, until they realize there is a serious problem here? When it is the very people sworn to protect us? When I began writing on these blogs, people were afraid to go to the police about what they knew about the CW case, so many posted instead, your local residents, some I met in person. It was hard to believe at first, but then slowly you could see the obvious patterns that go on, among people who don't even know each other.

The Brazilian man who was shot by Officer Van Ness--his girlfriend was fired from her job the day following the tragic incident. Someone went to his apartment and raided his safe. What is it? Self proclaimed vigilantism? Police have too much power, some abuse it.

This guy Michael Donovan, who claimed to own a newspaper on the island. He mentions all kinds of evil deeds perpetrated on innocent people, one even himself! Are they all crazy wack jobs who have nothing better to do with their time?

I'm sure the jurors all had jobs and families they left behind. How much stress is it to have to deal with a botched up trial, then to find out you are hunted game by the very residents who you thought were such good buddies. SURPRISE!! How are their lives now? Are they living it up royally? Something tells me NO WAY JOSE'!

Again, the Federal Courts have recognized that in RICO cases patterns take time to be recognized by the victims. This plaintiff does not know if the probate situation above is related, but does remember that in the written material sent to the plaintiff from the Association of National Security Alumni, (in what the Association was calling 'illegal government harassment', and what this plaintiff sees as racketeering with government involvement) it was stated that the "first order of business is always to destroy the victim financially thereby rendering the victim helpless before the courts..."

The BIG MONEY MACHINE is very much a large segment of what CC is & always has been. Our combined comments from previous post--is precisely my point.
Sure, there are very good people on the Cape that carve out their own lives, but you will notice, those are the ones who have very little to do with local politics or are involved w/how $ flows. It is an island, but a very politically powerful, isolated island. The only thing that connects it to the rest of the state is a BRIDGE.

If you dig deep enough, you will see the underbelly & what connects some of these cases together. Sure, it goes on everywhere--the same old mantra, over and over again. But shouldn't the "good people" of Cape Cod, at least be made AWARE of what goes on down there?

If I had known about what goes on there, you think I would invested 6 years of my life, and a large portion of my families inheritance? NO WAY.

It's the same from a global perspective.

If we all continue to drink the tainted kool-aid, not open our eyes wide, to the state of this nation, fight back-- IT'S ON US? Sure Buzz won't agree.

I was right in my previous assessment of the girlfriend suing the town of Yarmouth over the shooting of Brazilian driver by office Van Ness. I bet she is successful. This is why they have policies and procedures in place, to avoid fatalities and lawsuits. Never a perfect world, but you can sure minimize damages.

I'd still like to know who took this guy's keys off his dead body, went to his apt. and looted his safe.

Now Yarmouth may be adapting Boston's policies when it comes to speeding vehicles and when an officer should draw his gun-lots needs changing there, lots.

The 35 year old case of lady in the dunes--wasn't she already identified, guess it wasn't a positive ID. Gold teeth? Hayden Clark was a suspect? Can't they find better use for taxpayer dollars? I'm sure there are fresher cases around the money could be better spent on.

YPD--girlfriend sues. Well, isn't that a surprise. Good thing they don't have a hospital in that town. Did they find out who raided the guys safe yet? Was his car a space ship that could hover from side to side?

All these stories in less than two weeks. What a bonanza of media coverage.
Too bad none of these stories will ever have a CONCLUSION to events which occurred. I guess we can only ask for sooooo much from our esteemed world of journalism.

I attempted to express my opinions with respect. If you wish to try to discredit me, that's your prerogative. You'll find you have a minority within that may provide you with some company.

I am not a defense attorney, nor do I have "problems with police or DA's office". I just happen to be a woman who lived and worked on the island during the horrific Worthington murder. Listened to an old boss state, "the bitch deserved what she got because she was nothing but trouble". That was long before the black trash man was sent away for life without parole. There are many who feel the system of justice didn't really do a great job with that case and also believe there was much more to the story. Some who spoke out were forced off the island, others just gave up and walked away. An estimated cost for the investigation and trial was over $1 million dollars of taxpayer funding. Some of us would like to know that money was well spent. So far, we are not convinced. Freedom of Speech is a wonderful thing. If not for blogs, we would still believe in fairy tales.

You know what is really interesting about these two cases? MGH stabbing/shooting--

CCH incident--(lets not say anything more, we certainly don't want to insult any of the "sources", God forbid)

Incident at MGH--

You can google the story & pull up various articles & guess what?

THEY LIST NAMES OF PEOPLE INVOLVED...what do you know? Does not read, "sources said".

NAMES-patient/attacker, doctor who was assaulted, security guard, witnesses who came forward to give their own version of events...well, well...but I guess on the Cape, we have to wait until they get all their facts straight before we hear anything significant. I see how it is.

How long was it from the time of the attack at MGH until all names were disclosed in the papers? Same hour? Same day, Same week? Well, I know it wasn't 3 weeks later...or years later until information was presented in the papers. No, you've got your own version of how things should be presented to the public.

That's fine....just as long as you are willing to ADMIT THAT VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT OF HOW REPORTING IS HANDLED IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS..

IN MY OPINION--

HEARSAY based on two people who were not present during the incident:

The DA and the spokesperson continually named in the paper. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Where is the weapon used posing a dangerously fatal threat to staff members reported in the "scuffle" with the visitor?

The staff members are listed as "sources", not interviewed by the Cape Cod Times separately from the spokesperson who seems to have all the answers, because HE WAS THERE.

The employees are out of the limelight and not available for interview. Obviously, there is more to the story.

The first step in helping your residents is admitting there is a problem. You wish to continue with your arrogance and hostility towards me, just keep singling me out--then continue to live in your narrow minded, shallow world. There are plenty of people on the Cape that see what goes on there and want changes. I don't blame them. I wanted some changes too, but realized that for some reason, they enjoy the dysfunction. OCHS was another place with bad management, narrow sighted leaders, staff with their schoolyard antics and inappropriate behaviors in the workplace. If they ran good organizations, you would have skilled and professional people working there, but you have to pay them a cost of living you can't handle or won't, WHATEVER. Just keep writing those checks.

Jonathan, (writes on this site) mentioned he had a very bad experience at CCH ER ("but they were good with the kids...")..my ex-beau's family(100 yrs+)in Sandwich said the hospital has a sub-standard reputation. I know they have tried to enlist staff from the BI for their cardiac unit, so how is it going? Don't they have continued fiscal problems? Is that attributed to their excellence in providing quality care? Maybe doc's hate union workers.

You can't compare this incident w/MGH--two different incidents. The patient at MGH stabbed a doctor several times before being shot by security, which was justifiable. The incident at CCH is questionable since the visitor was not carrying a weapon and the injuries to staff were not serious, as stated. Why don't they provide the names of staff involved? Is there a good reason for that?

You are biased and attack every post I write, even when other posters comment similar if not the same comments about the unfairness of reporting and improperly investigated cases which may be damaging to the reputation of Cape Cod.

If the Cape had a facility to properly treat outpatients and inpatients for addiction/behavioral/chemical imbalances, maybe it wouldn't have so many issues. It is the obligation of the officials, politicians and DPH to ensure that every region have adequate treatment facilities for its residents. I don't believe that the majority of patients seen at the other facility (which they claim closed in Sept.) mainly consisted of "off Cape" patients. You have plenty of your own residents that need treatment, trust me. And the sad part is--the one's that need it the most DON'T GET IT! And I'm not talking about those with dependency issues, either.

My point is: It should not take a long time to sort this matter out. The records should be sent to the family's attorney per request in their entirety so a complete and thorough investigation of the deceased may be properly assessed. CCH should have a separate facility to treat patients with psychiatric disorders as Boston has McLeans. I don't believe it is wise to mix the population with those who have medical problems unless there is adequate staff, locked floors and proper training. Regardless, the family will most likely be awarded damages based on negligence due to their breech in proper procedures and policies, or lack there of--if the visitor (husband) exhibited behaviors claimed, there was a protocol staff must abide by, if not, it's on them. And the fact it took so long to come out in the press, (3 wks?) also shows signs of negligence on the part of the hospital. I'm sure this type of unfortunate incident happens elsewhere, but it still doesn't make it right. I'd vote for a trial, but we both know how this will end--check writing and more PR campaigning for CCH.

Some report the guy is 35, others have him as 59, so which is it?

Why doesn't CCTIMES report an accurate news article in the first place? Could it be that the "sources" don't wish to elaborate? Maybe it's not the journalists after all. I mean, they are only as good as their sources, right? No sources, no story.

Spin it anyway you like, McFly--it still leaves the most important question UNANSWERED:

How did a 59 year old man die at CCH while trying to visit his wife, ends up in the ER (according to UNNAMED SOURCES stress UNNAMED), then a respirator for nearly 3 weeks in ICU without so much as a story until much later, like after he's dead. Bet they were hoping he'd come out of it to avoid this fiasco.

It's obvious to everyone here, you will continue to condone any and all suspect behavior from Cape officials, business owners, connected drug snitches, corporations--just give them all a free pass. It will be you that will be the laughing stock, not I. Don't be so blind. Try to differentiate the Cape scrub pine from the other prickly inhabitants. You might just learn something.

As in the case with the "high speed" chase, I would hope that if they conclude there could have been preventative measures taken to avoid the tragic death of the CCH patient, that would be a positive step in the right direction.

Just as a side note, (McFly will persist), I would like to share an excerpt from the CCTimes about new polices that would be considered--"On Nov. 18, the council voted to form a committee, which studied policies in police departments across the country.

In Boston, the policy states: "Firearms shall not be discharged at a moving or fleeing vehicle unless the officer or another person is currently being threatened with deadly force by means other than the moving vehicle (emphasis added). The moving vehicle itself shall not constitute the threatened use of deadly force. Therefore, officers shall move out of the path of any oncoming vehicle instead of discharging a firearm at it or any of its occupants."

I'm a bit confused about this one fact--the guy's age. At 59, could he overpower several or more staff members, causing minor bodily injury as claimed? It would be interesting to know his state of physical health and that of the security guards.

We're only hearing ONE SIDE OF THE STORY.

The family & their attorney are NOT PROVIDING A STATEMENT TO THE PRESS.

I'm sure it's all to their benefit that they do so, since they must be well prepared to deal w/this matter.

So, how did this guy end up on life support? Did he do this to himself? What then Mcfly?

Since you think you qualify to provide all the answers, I suggest you march your fat fannie down to the DA's office tomorrow with your pen & pad, & conduct your own lame interview. Good luck if you can find him or get him to say three words. Others have tried & failed on more than one occasion. How about one of those empty pointed press conferences he's so good at..."the driver had a marijuana cigarette hanging out of his mouth".....forgot to mention his home was burglarized after the "high speed chase" on a tiny road. The family & their attorney will get to the bottom of this matter. The fact that the hospital feels the need to continually update, is a sign they are trying to make this go away, just like the rest of the ugly stories.

Even if there are witnesses to the contrary, you see how quickly they are silenced, forced out, discredited, labeled as "crazies", whatever means it takes to put the lid on it. Evidence can easily be disposed of and replaced with other phony evidence.

Good of Walter to put this story out there early on. Always better to have it in the public eye as soon as possible--less chance of continual fabrications of crucial details. I think it's going to be an uphill battle for that Boston lawyer, though, unless someone among the staff are willing to come forward with the truth about what really happened. Will they identify the staff involved? Security guards and nurses who were present during the incident? Or are have they been ordered to not speak to the press as in other cases?

They took it upon themselves to restrain this man with obvious extreme measures resulting in a senseless death. If he showed up with a gun or a knife, that's one thing, but just because he wanted to see his wife, does not give them the right to choke hold a family member of a patient...for HEAVEN's SAKES!! There are very strict procedures & policies that are implemented to avoid this type of situation. I worked in a healthcare for 10 years. I have witnessed disorderly patients & visitors. This is not how it gets handled. Rude awakenings for CCH & DUMB residents!

The claim of a video tape displaying his "erratic driving", within the hospital parking lot, could be attributed to his overwhelming concern for his wife. Did she call to say, "get me outta here", or was there a restraining order in place and he was not allowed to see her?

Regardless, this was a senseless death of a family member trying to visit his wife. It needs to be properly investigated by an independent team and not the old stand by..."Cape and Islands DA office". They have already shown in many other cases their disregard for the truth and fairness in their investigations. It always comes down to the same thing--who was involved, who are they connected to, who is being protected, who can take the fall, who can they get to hang for this one, and this is gonna cost ya. Just a different story, with the same ending. Enablers, those they protect and those who get thrown under the bus once again. SAD.

I agree with some of what you stated, esp. with regard to not using a choke hold. I use to interview patients in the ER for admission. We always had security, generally two guards at all times if there were valid concerns about the possibility of a patient becoming volatile or dangerous.

We don't know that is true about the now deceased husband. Dead men can't tell the story. If he posed an eminent threat to staff, visitors & other patients, a well trained staff( seasoned ER nurse is all it takes)in minutes, would have been right on it, BPD is how far from that ER? I know the roads, it's got to be less than one mile. Someone screwed up. As things became escalated, they probably panicked, so did the man who is now dead. What I would like to know is--where are the family members of this man and wife, why have they not given their statement to the press? This is a very serious situation that will no doubt impact the hospital and maybe innocent parties who may take the fall. Every hospital has a nursing supervisor who does rounds on every shift. This was his/her call.

Wait until the Mental Health Agencies get in their face about this situation. Patients have rights, so do their family members. Did this guy come in with a gun, a knife, previous arrest record--wonder what they will dig up on the guy, just like the rest when they've got nothing on them, but must clean up their own disasters. Was it two guys that put him in a head lock? Where do the security officers get their training? If he was so dangerous, don't they have rooms they can lock them in until the cops arrive? Maybe they should have an on duty cop there 24/7. But I don't see that one was warranted in this case. They are doing all they can to not let the real story out. Where is the wife's family, or deceased husband's family? BTW, where is Dr. Gryboski these days? Has she set up shop once again at CCH? There's another weird story-you want to talk about DA's guns missing? Wasn't it around this time?

Medical profession is worse now Ana, I was there too, for over 10 years..now it's a place transformed into corporate health care seeking only profits for patients. I've been dealing with my mother's issues for over two months and almost everyday was a battle ground to get her the adequate care. Not like it use to be, that's for sure. Just another big corporation, as told by the exec from CIGNA who was on Bill Moyers weeks ago.

I will be interesting how they follow this up with CCH.

Well, of course Ana. Why do you think McFly works overtime to keep me from posting? Every time I open up my blog mouth he comes along with his Mcfly steamroller. I assure you, I am quite sane & credible, so are the other few 100 former residents who have also fled the Cape because of the obvious shenanigans perpetuated upon innocents who once thought Cape Cod is beyond perfection. I did too, then I had to enlist in some of these crazy jail cells they call jobs. Not all people were bad to work with, but those that were, were bad to the bone. One very nice mason I worked with in Wellfleet tried to warn me once, he said, "you be careful down here young lady, we have the highest rate of divorce, unemployment, drug abuse, alcoholism and other things I won't mention. I don't want to see you get hurt. You are pure as the driven snow. Stay that way". I'll never forget those words, Ana, and I have no reason to lie. There are too many questionable stories for one to feel at ease living there. I guess it's okay if you have your own friends & families, but for newcomers--not an easy place.

I worked there for one week and quit. It was like being dropped into a Jerry Springer Show. I met one nice woman out of 30 insolent employees who were impossible to work with--union. I have no clue why the stupid manager hired me. She begged me not to quit, but it was one of the worst places I had every witnessed. If JACHO ever saw even a fraction of what goes on there, they would be cited, at the very least..everything from insubordination, disrespect to co-workers, not answering phones (one employee threatened me if I picked up, rang over 16 times)medical records thrown all over the place, horded by one highly unmanageable doctor. It was a real freak show. I went to HR to complain. They took their side, but said they would like me to consider other jobs in the future and I would hear from them. They later admitted, the practice had outgrown the facility. But that was the least of their problems! That's when I ended up with the skirt chasing builder, nutty client Flook and that madness. Never had I met so many crazies, egomaniacs, who lack common decency. It really was nutso.

Hanging with the neighbors giving out to trick or treaters...best costume I've seen so far is a two headed hockey player adorned in Bruins uniform by a set of 8 year old brothers. What cuties and originality, they got extra reeses from me for their cleverness in costume. Not as many children as in previous years, though. Most of the outdoor activity is over by eight.

It's like going to the market and only buying a few groceries, to later discover you can't finish the recipe or prepare the meal because the essential ingredients are MISSING! What are you left with? A former co-worker lost his sister to an accident involving a MSP who was speeding in Boston. What no special driver's ed programs? I'm sorry to hear about the brave soldiers-- possee's son and son of your friend who will soon be deployed. There are some of us who just don't believe in war, especially if there is enough evidence to show that it is for ill gotten gains by the corporate elite. We all come here with our own set of belief systems, but it does not mean that I do not respect our armed forces. I most certainly do, as millions of other citizens who understand the sacrifices and eminent danger to their precious lives. Some of these men and women haven't even begun to live their lives.

I do not believe the majority of people are being told the truth about why we are occupying Iraq and continue to dominate the Middle-East. There is more to the story here they won't tell us. Now it seems we have no choice but to remain, since this situation has become elevated to a place were we are forced to now defend and continually be placed in fear.

I disagree. Iran is not our problem--Israel is and always has been. We do their bidding--but they hide it so well.

No explanation necessary. I commend Mavericks sacrifices and strifes, but I really don't see your point in this context of discussion. It doesn't make his or your arguments anymore valid than the rest of us. Having served in the military really has very little to do with what wallstreet has done to our nation. They are two separate issues and should be treated as such.

I've had family who have also served in the military as well as CIA and NSA. Do you constantly see me interjecting this in posts? Occasionally, I may, at times, in order to make a point about a topic specific to the debates. At the end of the day, what does it matter?

We are all in this together, whether we served, or not. Just because some have not, does not make them less worthy. My daughter dates a boy who served in Iraq. He's going to school to become a police officer now. He won't talk about his experiences there, and she won't ask, but she shares that he seems somewhat indifferent and struggles with human emotion. I don't see that as a good thing. War does terrible things to everyone involved.

There are plenty of soldiers who have suffered and have come back with limbs blown off and our govt. has turned their backs on them. They struggle to survive along with their families who must care for them because your military establishment has been negligent in their duty to provide them with the tools they needed while in service. I don't presume to have all the answers, just have seen, heard and experienced enough to know that what has happened to the middle class is criminal. I believe it was intentionally done to dismantle the backbone of our working communities. They did this in a way that it cannot be UNDONE. What does that tell us? The only one's that can put the golden eggs back in the chicken house are the Wallstreet Fox. They are keeping all the golden eggs for themselves. We just keep paying, they keep reaping, as grim as they are...One AIG employee who was canned, wrote to the NY TIMES about his experience, admits to making $700k in salary alone, not counting bonuses. That is INSANE. I don't care how much knowledge these guys have, or where they went to school. There are plenty of young rookies who could qualify for their jobs, but instead, they keep them on the payroll and guess who keeps paying their lucrative salaries + bonuses? WE DO. Congressmen have stated this as well on C-Span. And they question why the contracts can't be broken and sorted out in court. Hell, it would cost a lot less to settle. They say, "you are not putting the money we gave you, bailouts, back on the street, as promised, so give it back"! The economy is in a deep slump because the lenders are still up to their old tricks. But he does blame Bush for a lot of it, says that at least Bush has now gone away and staying out of it, unlike Cheney. He, like you, has always contended that this is NOT A TWO PARTY GOVT. --IT IS ONLY ONE BAD PARTY who have succumbed and in collusion with the greed on Wall Street. Some predict it will go up to 2k oz., 3k-I don't trust any of it, rather buy acres in Argentina or the Balearic Islands, move if it tanks.

Got laid off in August. I've been looking for a job in every area I can think of that will match my salary. I don't make that much. My Cobra deadline was about to be terminated this week, so I paid the $300 to keep it going. I was told by the servicing agency that manages our Cobra, our employer picked up only 2 months, (minus our $50+ monthly contribution)then the Obama plan picks up the rest for up to 12 months, my a portion- 35% of the monthly premium. You think that is fair? The employer is off the hook, they never gave a a severance package, to any of us, some were there for over 20+ yrs. They should have been forced to pay for our health care--at the very LEAST! No, they threw it back to the taxpayers. I really would like to know what unemployment is doing about these WELL ENDOWED UNIVERSITIES who have tossed thousands of working class into the unemployment lines. They should be FINED. I don't think your daughter is making it up. Mazzone told me he tried to investigate cases, but road blocks went up when he tried to pursue. He said he was there for 12 years and "that place ripped a piece of my soul away". He wouldn't say all he went through, but I could tell whatever it was traumatized him for life. He use to live in the next town from me and although I know he was viewed as a bad cop, I really don't think he is, some of them just have little choice...you know, "go along to get along". Everyone needs a job, some choose to look the other way. If he could never pull drivers over for OUI's because they were town selectmen, or locals, couldn't arrest local kids for drugs, or arrest a father for violating his own child--what then? What is the cop suppose to do? Transfer out? Move away? Well, he finally did and think he's much happier now, but his experiences there left deep scars, as it did me. Some things you never forget. other things you don't think about ever again. Somehow in between it all, I will come out of it, but I will not hide, go away as they want!

The Cape Cod Times did such a thorough job gathering the facts, it took everyone's breath away. I could hardly wait for the next dull repetitive column months on end. And the highlight, the overall major focus was the DA and Flook getting it on! What news! Award winning coverage! Who the F cares. Meanwhile, they are racking up millions in a botched up investigation. How proud can Cape law enforcement be? And let us not forget about that DNA fiasco in the ever so quaint town of Truro. One neighbor's dad (born and raised in Truro..don't bother to ask Buzz) told me, "I told them I would supply my DNA, only when the entire TPD submits their own first". Well, there it is.

If you read the entire article written in 1995, it explains the cult church in S.Dennis that many fled from, but the claims were they were continually harassed after leaving due to fear of exposure. I just googled "Cape Cult" and that's what came up. I have reason to believe the island has people there who are extremely ruthless and diabolical in the way they attack people who try to expose them, for whatever reason. It's clannish, they try to preserve whatever they have and keep outsiders out. There is no other explanation. Visiting there is one thing, living there is something else. When I worked there, I was continually asked by employees from various jobs whether I rented or owned? Did I sell my home in Somerville? Was I married, kids, etc. Too many nosy questions and no basis for any of it. This link confirms it now. I don't know if church still exists, but if there is one, there must be more. Several people told me the church in Orleans takes all possessions from their followers, then they house entire families and separate them from their children. Just rumors?

You are really dumb. He was a fireman in Eastham. The cops were no help. I couldn't take the time to go through court proceedings nor hire a lawyer to toss him out. He was on disability and could not be found. Wouldn't answer his phone. I believe it was a set up, just like my daughter's car accident months later. I don't care if you don't believe a word I say, but I'm putting it out there because I have no place else to go. I know his brother got in touch with realtors to try and get the property from the bank. His brother even tampered with my mail. Later, I started to think they must have had connections and how they were not able to escape accountability. I have my reasons for not wanting to get into your court system. Isn't it obvious? Just forget it. I'm done trying to explain anything to you because you continually discount anything I have to say. Just stick to your wonderful system of justice, never mind about the hundreds who have been scammed, embezzled and defrauded. I'm certain it's not the first time. Before making a decision to get a swine flu shot, you should do some research first.

A family member has confirmed that the vaccine is still too new and we don't know enough about it to make a well educated decision. Every drug we take, including a flu shot has potential side effects. I find this the most informative, but you will hear it's considered an anti-establishment website. I personally believe it has the most accurate information than most of our corporate owned newspapers/media and pharmaceutical companies. Who do you think benefits from doling out millions of vaccines. It's ultimately your decsion.

Just recently, I met a member of the Vonnegut family, a relative of Kurt Vonnegut to be precise. Interesting discussion we had. I mentioned that I had read some of his relative's work, and his article about the 1969 murders. The next thing out of his mouth was quite a surprise, but not shocking..."Cap Cod is a Cult". BTW, I don't take a paycheck from Walter. I do this at my own free will, but I can see that is being challenged now as well. I'm still waiting for Manso's lousy $300 bucks for looking up property deeds in Barnstable. I learned he too has his own private agenda, as so many others, and told him to keep his filthy money and walked away.

At first, my reasons for the interest in the case was based on the fact I didn't condone what my former boss said about Christa, "she was nothin' but trouble and deserved what she got". (Fall 2002)..those words came back to haunt me after the "black trashman" was jailed (Spring 2005). I was asked by a third party to write for this site, I agreed. I had no idea how hateful people could be when someone comes along to point out the obvious problems that exists on that island, esp. as it pertains to someone of color, or who has a different way of life. I'm not someone who is easily intimidated. If I believe in something, I stick it out until the end.

I read his book, thought it was well done, but he left out the MOST IMPORTANT, MAVERICK. Like the corruption and how it doesn't stop at the DA's office. Shall I go further? I try to accept everyone without judging them by their political affiliations. My friend who worked at Wallstreet has always subscribed to the Republican doctrine. I didn't care. I like him for the person he is first. We can put our political views aside, don't always agree. However, this election he admitted voting for Obama. Even he, realized that the Bush/Cheney hijack of American and Iraq was a bad deal.

We can all have our own views without the hate and racial remarks. It's not the way to go and it is very dangerous to tread on that mine field, sailor.

What many fail to realize, is that these clips(FOX network, btw, pro-Rush, pro-Coulter, anti-democratic, pro-neocon) and radio shows (liberals included) are making money. Rush is an "entertainer", as Howie Carr (I use to be a fan, not anymore) and the only reason I listened to Howie was because he was into the local politics I knew about. On some issues I agreed with him, but not many. I was an occasional caller who would argue with him, and you know what, he would listen and agree. When he condemned the democrats, I'd call to say that not all were bad and that he should knock off the Slummerville line. It's all entertainment, bitter, mostly-- sometimes listeners will take it too far. I do believe that some radio talk show hosts preach their own gospel. I don't think they understand the damage they are doing to people who really believe their crap. On public schools, w/ACoulter: She is partly correct, we do have problems in our public schools, but PRIVATE ALSO, if not more, because they get ignored. Same issues; pre-teen sex, drugs, eating disorders, over achievers, etc.

They inject you with the virus so your body will build up immunities to fight it off, but not all of us are able, so are they putting the virus into our body? I did have one flu shot years ago. Years ago, we had Palestinian neighbors. They arrived in the 70's, started a few deli chains. We got along well. Prior to 911, they moved back home. Most recently, I've come to know a few families from Iraq who also live in our area. They are peaceful and keep to themselves. Slowly, they would share their experiences about living in the US. I can't believe their hardships. Long, hard hours of work, for very little pay. We also talk of the war. Their country has been ripped apart. There is no "democracy" taking place, only a steady military presence and continued poverty among its people. Some have returned, but many remain because they don't see a place they recognize anymore. What I have learned is that they are very dedicated to family, religion, and survival. A clannish culture that is without fear of famine, homelessness, or death. Our military leaders & corp. war dogs are stupid to think they can beat them. A person doesn't have to be book smart to be intelligent. People who learn to survive under the worst conditions is a lethal opponent. For one to this otherwise is a fool.

What is Pakistan's allegiance to Iran? It appears that gaining control of the center of the pie, Iraq is their major plan for two main reasons: continue a strategic military base, while seizing oil fields. Iraq has the most oil of all the middle eastern nations, right? And the Saudis have been after it for decades with the help of Bush I and Bush II, while maintaining Israel as their primary allie. One is retired (is there ever such a thing..don't answer that)...we've gone too far, possee. That is what the major problem is now. We can't go back. How much fallout is expected of our economy? What is their master plan? When do we form the bread lines? Obama should have never allowed Geithner to take the lead. I think it was his greatest downfall. Fire all of them, and put some rookies in. How could it be any worse? If they can hire temps they can hire rookies. Most of these guys have had it too easy for tooooooo long. If you watch the previous congressional hearings on C-span it looks like comedy central.

I do agree that no one could have predicted what would have happened if they allowed the banks to fail.

But we will never know, will we?

And that was also a carefully calculated strategy, in my opinion. Just like a hand in poker--they (Congress)never called their bluff(bankers).

Either way, I'm sure it was a lose-lose situation and they opted for the lesser of the two. Nobody likes to toss the precious baby out the window with the dirty bath water.

I think of it more in terms of drawing the analogy of kidnapping.

You either pay the heavy ransom or you don't. Either way it's a great risk. If you don't have a game plan, you are at their mercy. Congress didn't have a back up plan and they contend they are not bankers and could not deal with the extremely complicated issues surrounding the ponzie scheme pyramids. So, they paid the whopping $350 billion. But the only questions is--did we gain anything back? Only time will tell. If I had to make an educated bet on what I have learned over the past four years listening to my friend, we are still on the downhill snow sled.

This same friend told me in the Fall of 2005'..."it's about to get much worse". Since then, I followed everything he said. I'll be seeing him next week with a few other friends. I really miss our daily dialouge over coffee. He'd always give me crap about the dem's at the statehouse, but he did admit that he voted for Obama. We made no bones about where we stood on politics, but we always kept it clean(unlike in here with some posters) and somehow, we always managed to come to the middle.

Sure, it's complicated, but don't forget where Geithner came from. That has been always my way of research--follow careers from inception. He was Rocky's boy, former president of Fed Reserve Bank of NY, directed $350 BILLION in bailouts. Some say, it was dirty to go after Lehmann and Bears Stearns, citing conflict of interest because GoldmanSachs housed his college buddies. He replaced Henry Paulson (CEO of GoldmanSachs),so where is the transparencies of their roles and how it effected the overall turnout? Why can't they just hire a bunch of guys who don't have any affiliations with each other?

A friend, worked on Wallstreet said, "many senators wanted to pull the plug on the banks early on, but there was greater resistance". He contends, if done early on,(minus billions in bailouts) there was a viable chance we could have sustained a surplus & not put a major dent in our treasury. Lenders knew early on of the damage caused, 04'. Geithner & Co. had a strangle hold on Congress. No time to stop the red tsunami, & could not unravel the huge spider web of fraudulent lending that was created. It was intentional, not just a huge error of global proportion. They had Congress by the you know what--and they knew it. Congress had very little choice, as Capuano stated "to sort this out", because as we all know, the financial world never can be put on pause, right? It's just one gargantuan cash/credit machine that does not sleep. I worked with people who studied the markets every second of the day, while sifting through websites most don't use unless they have access. Do you know where I'm going with this? Some get a heads up before others are forewarned-never the littleguy.

As one congressman pointed out, "there hasn't been much prosecutorial efforts made in the past 8 YEARS, and the new adm. has very little time to sort this out". (C-Span, AIG congressional hearings, Congressman Capuano)

It's about campaign contributions, that was their hook on Congress, how they became complicit, as many homeowners who were tricked into the lending scams. This way, they can't really prosecute, can they? If a number of our senators from both sides of the fence have taken major campaign contributions from AIG, mortgage lenders, investment firms, war driven corp's, etc.,how can they prosecute them? They will be lamb basted in the news, following day on the front page. Down goes that re-election when their term is up. Both Frank and Dodd have dirt on their hands, unlike Capuano who said,"I have none of my money in your banks, get those who created the SIV's, should have been illegal, FIRE THEM".

The newspapers described how they have been pushing their drugs via doctors, some not even passed by the FDA, many create devastating results to patients who have won lawsuits, but you and your FOX lovers don't talk about those serious crimes effecting thousands of Americans. It is abundantly clear now, by that article (notice we don't get this view from the major corp. owned networks) the "black" president is telling the corporate welfare recipients--"your chop-shop on the American people is CLOSED"..."no more bonuses, no more "illegal", unethical business practices at the price of the working class".

If the news bothered to spend time interviewing people who have lost their homes, jobs, healthcare, the people would riot in the streets.

Tell it to the guy who has two toddler's, a mortgage, two car payments, he & his wife have a long commute to work & day care. I guess it's his fault, too. That's why they kept him employed & gave him raises too, because he was so incompetent.

Or, how about the young 24 yr old, with a BA, job history, seeking promotion, applied within, only to be told she didn't have enough experience, but then saw former colleagues of the hiring manager getting hired. It's all FAIR though! EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES to EVERYONE!

How about my friend who was laid up from surgery? She gave 22 yrs of her life to that place. They did the right thing--they called her while she was recovering & told her she was canned. What compassion.

How about a cancer survior? Her fault, too? She put in over 25 yrs. I guess she shouldn't have used so much of her health insurance-you won't see on FOXNEWS!

NO ONE IN THE MEDIA, has bothered to share this on any of the networks, have they? Have you seen one college president being interviewed on FOX NEWS about why they laid off thousands? Have you seen any employees being interviewed about the conditions of the layoffs, the obvious age discrimination that they felt, the unfair treatments they were subjected to during the time they were required to remain there? Everything they did would be thrown out if these jobs were within a union's oversight. But they know they can make one call to their corporate lawyers if there is a problem. There have been some who have successfully sued for wrongful termination based on age discrimination and I'm sure they have been sued for other things as well. Again, you won't see it in the MURDOCH OWNED MEDIA OUTLETS, but it is very real. That's how they get away with this and so much more, Richard. The networks are bias, only serving the corporate elite. Who do you think erects buildings in their name?

Just wanted to add--From my own personal experience over the past 5 years, the harsh realities effecting millions of Americans in being buried by the corporate owned networks. Sure, you see an individual story about loss of jobs, mortgage crisis, people being denied health insurance, etc. But the fact the news does not report a cumulative story of all these hardships tells me, they continue to minimize the reality of our problems so people will continue to think this is just a temporary problem.

A co-worker shared that she spoke with people in the industry, high ranking corp. types, friends of her husband. He said, "you layoffs were nothing more than reorganizing which had absolutely nothing to do with loss of endowments". They did it in a way, not to bring public attention, staggering layoffs and pushing retirement packages. Another co-worker called to say that an announcement was made to a body of residents(word finally got out about layoffs)and they were told, most of us got re-employed immediately after, and "they", the college were taking very good care of the rest.

Don't bother trying to argue with Buzz. He is a dedicated FOX listener and cannot be pursuaded (as hard as we ALL TRY)to contend otherwise, & anyone who dares speak out against the Israel govt. is an anti-semetic who loves Muslim terrorists. When in fact, there are just as many Israel terrorists, if not more, I contend.

I've seen the film and heard from the experts several years ago at a 4 hour discussion forum (they would be dismantled and discredited if brought out into the open) study of witnesses/experts who can prove it was a conspiracy and cover up. But the American people are not allowed to see the evidence for themselves, even when over 500 witnesses, including firemen and police officials who many have acquired serious illnesses caused by the asbestos leached out from the implosions of the WTC. The commissions study has been challenged as well, but do you see anything coming out? No, because to do so, would mean revealing our steadfast allegiances to Israel and they can't let the American people know because we would turn against them and our govt.

It is widely know that the Jews who own our media and banking industries dictate what we are doing in the middle east. I know Iraqi families who live in our area and I hear it from all different sides. I've suspected this early on. I worked with people of Jewish descent who spoke out in the work place, applauded Bush's efforts for invading Iraq after 911. Rumors ran rampant throughout the colleges, while students held protests and tensions grew among Jewish and Muslim students. Faculty is predominantly Jewish, as those in many positions who continue to influence our government officials. Who are causing the turmoil we see playing out in the White House, and are responsible for fighting Obama on just about every change needed for us to restructure our country. Our conflicts in the middle east stem from which country? They want us to go after Iran. Many people are afraid to speak out against Israel, but I am not. One segment on the Bill Maher show, (don't like him) is evident.

As God is my witness...if I see every one of those rotten Ivy League scumbags go to jail, or at the very least, never hold a top exec job again, I would rather live in a cabin in Alaska than see them continue this filthy charade that has been orchestrated upon the American working class! The unbelievable arrogance, even after all they have done to create this economic collapse, to not agree to curtail these overly flagrant bonuses and salaries, even after getting OUR CHARITY in CORP. As old as he was,(72 when I was born), he was a fun guy to be around. I can still recall trips to the zoo, and the beach. He was outgoing, enjoyed nature, always maintained a youthful appearance ,and acted like a young man, enjoyed life and took risks, beat the odds every time. I think it was all the good food from the Parker House that did it and great Italian genes of course. He had many friends, some from the rough crowd, some pols, some in law enforcement, both Irish and Italians. We had Irish teamsters who married into our family, and Italians from the North End. It took my short life on Cape Cod to finally discover who dad really was, all stemming from that case. I had no idea until one day I met a couple of dad's friends who introduced themselves to me at a function. Word got around I was dad's daughter, so they came up to greet me. I tried to ask a lot of questions, about dad, but they told me not to...LOL. Well, enough said. He still has one old friend who is 93, but actually it was his dad who was closer. Must have been some real wild times back then, eh, Mav?
