In response to: The Coyote Wars
I wrote that a couple of years ago and now I have 21 ducks. I have recently only seen Ginger the one with RED Hair
Lucy(my dog)not too long ago did have a issue with her. Hopefully this spring they have moved their dens to some other BOG to raise the family.

In response to: That hawk almost got my duck
Hi
These are not eating ducks as Call ducks are what they call turn coat ducks
They were used as decoys to work with duck hunters (live Decoys instead of those wood or plastic ones) They are pretty good pets for kids and so very small they look like a rubber duckie with a loud voice. I know you are kidding and I do not eat them (I will be glad to give you guys some duck eggs for breakfast )

In response to: Fire destroys Animal Hospital
this is my vet and they are wonderful
I hope they find the missing dogs and it is too bad that two animals dies. Dr. Munson would risk his life to save animals. I have been going there for years even when old Dr. Leach was the owner in the early 1970's This also happened on Monday to a place in PA that was owned by a Chow Breeder. Martha Stewart lost her beloved dog and many show dogs were lost in that fire. The owner also lived next door but a propane deliverly truck exploded and the dogs were not able to be gotten out in time.

This case regarding the Fitzgerald's and their daughter is very interesting
The attitude of the school was typical and got them in a lot of trouble. We sued under this statue for "Fourteenth Amendment set forth in Youngberg v. Romeo, 457 U.S. 307, 102 S.Ct. 2452, 73 L.Ed.2d 28(1982), specifically, his right to reasonably safe conditions of confinement, freedom from unreasonable bodily restraints, and such minimally adequate training as might be required to ensure safety and freedom from restraint" when our child was brutally restrained like a common drug dealer (use of pain compliance hold such as wrist twisting) when she was age 10 years old. As you can see this is not the first example of this district not taking the civil and constitutional rights of children seriously. We ended up settling for a very tiny amount after years of stress from the same awful lawyers that are against this family (Chandler out of Boston) I hope this family wins today in court.

You are not covering the man who was arrested for stealing contractor and other tools. Why.??

I still remember the fact that Chris M said that he was there and "put the boot to her"
He admitted hurting her and being there. What about that. AND i read a letter he wrote from prison on some website to some women. He is not mentally retarded enough to not know right from wrong so do not get into that aspect. He is a bad man whatever color he might of been. Why would you want him walking the streets. He was obviously very violent and cost us as taxpayers tons of money for his defense. I am tired of this debate. If someone else was also involved they need to put them with him in the same cage.

Recently we (me included) voted in our state to outlaw dog racing and close the two tracks due to abuse and neglect reports. We saw the pictures of the dogs in those small crates and reports of abuse.
It passed and the dogs will be given up for adoption or sent to other tracks. At the same time week it was reported that families can no longer afford to keep their pets and the shelters are crowded.
Now we have all these homeless greyhounds which need to be exercised and taken care of along with these pets that are being given away to be adopted. Also in a news report they are saying that
the greyhounds will be sent to race in other states. Most states do not have great laws to protect dogs and even children compared to our state. What sort of terrible places will these dogs end up in where they have even smaller cages and less oversight? I hope we all did not make a mistake in voting this in instead of making our existing regulations stricter

I moved to the Cape in 1970 and it was so different then. I could write a script for a movie myself.

In response to: Dennis the manatee died Sunday on his trip to Orlando
I think they should of found a place closer than florida to put Dennis for treatment. It was TOO LONG A TRIP.

In response to: Cape manatee headed for SeaWorld in Orlando
Dear Peter
I think that this is all done with grants and donations (like of like Politicans get)
We knew Dennis would die on route or be given the needle if he showed any signs of suffering. THE OLDEST living Manatee was born in 1948 and is still going strong. I think that Dennis was special needs and should of been taken locally to someplace. NOT put on some truck and sprayed with water (dumb move on their part) It makes sense traveling to florida is more stressful than cold water and no water. It got them lots of good PR and I am sure it helps them like when they stopped the seals being clubbed and now they ate all the fish in Canada. I am a big animal lover but they have to use their heads and look out for the animals not their own pay checks.

In response to: Dennis the manatee died Sunday on his trip to Orlando
Last week when this was all going on I told my husband about it before he read the news. He said " That Manatee will be dead before it hits florida" I suspect the sea cow met their criteria for putting to sleep as they say and my husband was right. This also was a good PR from a group who does good but needs the grants and donations coming in. I am sure they did not want Dennis to suffer and did the best they could but this is usually the outcome of these things when something SO large is in such foreigh waters. It does however prove that people are interested (especially children) in animals so we need have some sort of a large aquarium on Cape Cod. TAKE the kids to the ZOOQUARIUM In Yarmouth which is a wonderful place.

In response to: Brazilian national charged with drug dealing
The last guy that the police ended up killing I had heard had two wives and I wonder if he wore two rings ( See Capemom comment)
Also who pays for the family now that he is dead and who is paying for their medical insurance. There are lots of Good people from Brazil and yes some are illegal. However we need to have people not sneak into the country without checking out criminal records. And by the way many of not most of these awful homes that are being foreclosed on with the dangerous illegal apartments (ceiling too low, no egress) were owned by Brazilians

In response to: The Veep Debate and the Bailout
Why don't you mention that awful Barney Frank and how he got us into this. Both sides caused this and the most horrible thing is the items added on to the Bail out bill (they now call it rescue Bill)
I do like Biden and Palin better than either of their running mates but I am not voting for OBAMA. All he can do is promise what he is going to change and he will not be able to change ANYTHING

In response to: Kennedy supports Senate bailout plan
I am disgusted by the things that got added to this bill. Lets see something about wooden arrows and Rum. This whole thing sickens me and makes me want to not vote at all for any of these peoplel

In response to: My own dealings with DA Michael O'Keefe
I just saw the comments on my story and I appreciate it expect for the two from LUCKY7. First of all I DID NOT EVER EVER sign off on any restraints (that is a whole tale in itself) AND the restraints they used were so very deadly no parent would know that from some behavior plan written by the teachers. AND I did not get some BIG SETTLEMENT from the lawsuit. It was almost laughable. We settled for $75,000 which paid for the lawyer, the experts and we got a small amount of about $20,000 after spending hours and hours on this. SO lucky7 you are misinformed or one of the culprids.I think any parent who would agree to have their child be tossed around like that is the mentally ill one. I am a good parent and a law was passed to stop this action again and save children;s lives.

In response to: You didn't by any chance get your hair cut here?
I have lived on the Cape since 1970 and the haircut thing is a hard one. In 1978 to 1979 all you had was Regis
at the original Mall and then Cosmetic sprang up with manicures and haircuts. Anyway If you friend wants a great haircut that she is decribing she does not have to go to Newberry street. ONLY to Osterville to Maria at Magnolias. I have that bob look for years (we called it the Doctor's wife haircut in the late 1970s) and now I have the new modern verizion as your friend described to you. Remmber Maria At Magnolias in Osterville and that is the only place that kept me from looking like everyone else.

In response to: What's a SEPAC, and why do I care?
In 1996 and 1997 I was the sped Pac Chairperson for Barnstable. I would put on these meetings with help from a few other parents. We had very little turnout considering the amount of children on IEP's. It is so important to have these meetings and also for parents to try to attend them. GONE are the days of Power over Parents (this is what most teachers who trained in Special needs in the 1970's and early 1980's were taught. The decision have to be a team approach. It is also important for parents to network and share information and stand up for the children who need special education services.
