O'Connell said the tribe could go the commercial route to save time or hold out and wait for a federal determination.
But by then, five years in, O'Connell estimates, competitors could be operational before the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe even breaks ground.
Move quickly, rob fast!!!!! Noble and sovereign!!!!!
Very few are buying it. Sell-outs.
And Cadillacman is the worst of the worst of sell-outs, he didn't rape like Marshall, but in terms of political astuteness, pretty much the same.
Massachusetts as we have known it is now gone. And I don't mean CCcrazy. CC used to be a sweet place to visit. Whomever voted Cadillacman and Marshall in now have responsibility.
What next? Hillary? Osama?
Just vote in the mansons. same difference.
In response to: Lottery History Tells the Future of Casinos?
Native American law experts have questioned whether they can revisit a suit that was dismissed by a jury, appealed, and eventually denied by the US Supreme Court.
They believe they can reclaim the entire town of Mashpee based on a deed from the 1600's.
Makes me proud granddad was heckawee.
Or Boo Ya.
We gotta exhume him first to see who he messed around with...probably Hiawatha...he was such a mutt....

When people are engaging in rationalization, it may appear pathological, as if they have a desperate need to justify themselves or are cynically telling lies they couldn't possibly believe themselves....
Self-delusion, or cognitive dissonance, is rationalization in order to impress others, reaffirm 'moral integrity' and protect 'self-concept.'
Like the concept of people (v. the umbrella term 'natives') who are noble, peaceful, and sovereign.
All peoples are natives of somewhere on this earth.
Global migration.
Now a wamp-card-in-wallet is not only a get-out-of-jail-free pass that taxpayers will have to foot the bill for, but they will be responsible for protecting CC's national park lands?
The fraud goes on and on.
I gotta go exhume my grandfather. We are the heckawe tribe, from somewhere in Canada. He's gotta be at least 1/16th native. (He fooled around.)

Monponsett has it all over you:
Call me what you will, bu I'm starting to not want the Wamps in charge of our casino development. These guys have fouled up everything from Metacomet on, and any serious betting sort would be going against them with both fists at this point in US/Wampanoag history.
I think it was Seneca- he was actually there at the time, you see- who knew how that Newport Viking Tower story ended, but maybe it's time to bring the Norwegians into the situation.
If Massachusetts doesn't stop messing around with my ability to conduct business with a legal sports book, I'll be forced to step into the situation myself.
As a distant-but-legitimate relative of the Boo Yaa T.R.I.B.E. (I worked with Monsta O and Ganxta Ridd on several skits while interning for MTV, back in the day), I have more than enough clout within the T.R.I.B.E. to enter into negotiations with Gov'na Patrick in an effort that will plop that casino right into underdeveloped southern Plymouth by March 2008.
Wink, wink all you want, then answer the questions. Boo Ya!

And it was Dopey who said Ho Hum.
Like small-minded, dopey Cadillacman (whose wife never shows up at that creep's side).
Or Glenn Marshall (there's a true Mashpee for you).
Or McGowen, such a sweet, kind man.
You are who you are.
Embrace it, accept it.

Sean Murphy has done his homework.
The Mashpee band has been exposed as corrupt on a global scale.
Let's hope the BIA and the Gaming Commission stonewall them for years and years to come, until all of the facts of the mysterious enrollments and finances are documented.
Ferson, Hendricks, greedy fools do rush in.
The Mashpee will still have to deal with all of their very angry neighbors who dislike crime, dishonesty, and fraud.
--------------
'Are members of the Mashpee or Aquinnah required to prove that they are descended from ancestors listed on an 1880 census using birth, death, and marriage certificates?
What percent bloodline is required? One-eighth? One-sixteenth?
If a person/member has any type of criminal and/or drug history, are they removed from 'enrollment'?'
----------------
The answers to these and other enrollment and financial questions/inquiries must be forthcoming before any further corruption by the Mashpee is allowed.
Very few now believe they are anything except very greedy and very ruthless Americans.

In response to: Mashpee: A Question of Fact vs. Fiction
The governor has not said what specifically that means or whether the same preference will be given to two tribes in competition with one another.
'All of the Middleborough land included in the tribe’s application to establish a reservation with the federal government is now in the hands of the tribal council’s investors.'
Follow the (pertinent) threads.
Natives have always warred against each other, long before 'whitey' arrived.
Competition.
Natives are, and always have been, as American as Donald Trump.

In response to: Gayle Andrews: A "Woodwork Cousin"
spotted, when you have been on as many rez's as I have, then you will understand segregating doesn't work for natives, and only makes things far worse. It is a very, very poor solution.
Natives used to be indignant about reservations. Rightly.
There are other desperate groups of people. And they didn't resort to what the Mashpee did and are doing.
There is nothing romantic about reservations.
