In response to: Harwich weekly arrests; One arrest in Truro
You arrest a 64 year old unlicensed operator for the same reason you arrest a shoplifter, because they broke the law. GROW UP PEOPLE

Simple math is where it starts, MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL, Pro atheletes get astronomical amounts of money to play a game, kids see the $$$ and look to the easiest way to get theirs, which unfortunately is dealing drugs. I have seen many a child take the wrong road, mostly because of peer pressure, some to escape from family problems, but the bottom line is it pays better than working at Burger King

Well bunny, consider the fact that once an individual has been encarcerated, they basically become the property of the Commonwealth and therefore are taken better care of than the local population. Roof over their heads, access to any and all legal materials available, that could help them in their quest for an appeal, 3 square meals every day, think about the homeless people and their plight, then look at how we treat CONVICTED CRIMINALS, that in itself is criminal. She will just sit back in jail, plan appeal after appeal in safe confinement from the outside world, while we, the taxpayers, pay for everytinhg for her, including her appeal processes. I for one think that lawyers should be abolished, and the judges be allowed to hand out justice as it is written.

In response to: Dennis crash; Yarmouth domestic violence arrest
I know there used to be a provision for being a habitual offender that could warrant encarceration without due process, does it still exist? I mean really 12 times in 6 months, put the guy away.

As you so aptly put it, it seems that our justice system works better for the criminal than it does for the average citizen. Heaven forbid that their constitutional rights should be violated, or that they should have to pay the exorbitant fees that victims have to pay the bloodsucking lawyers to defend their rights, when the criminals, driving Hummers or Mercedes, can get defended by a public defender, because they cannot afford a lawyer? Give me a break. The criminal justice system needs to grow some balls and stand up to these punks and put them behind bars where they belong, instead of interpreting the laws so as not to let their sentences be deemed cruel and unusual punishment.

Tim as much as I hate to say it, it seems that the police departments on the cape need a little something extra on their side. I believe a little vigilante justice might be in order to help clean up these troubled areas, the police need to be peace makers first, vigilantes don't. I don't condone acting outside of the law by any means, but a group of people, a community watch perhaps, walking troubled areas, just might make these individuals see that their actions will no longer be tolerated.

OK boys and girls, enough sparring about alcoholism, let me give it to you straight. Alcoholism is a disease, and it can be controlled with a lot of hard work and self control. Some say that it is hereditary, I can't dispute that, I do know that I was raised in a household where drinking was the norm, not the exception. I started drinking at my brothers wedding when I was 10 and was a regular drinker at 13. Ifound that as time went by I was what is considered a functioning alcoholic, however it cost me dearly over the years. Marriages, family, jobs, everything suffered, and I wasn't a friendly drunk. But I got sober, through a couple of close friends and a higher power that helps guide me. I have been sober now for 8085 days or 22 yrs 1 month and 19 days. It is a terrible affliction that affects too many of us, but there is help out there if you want it. I am here if anyone would like to talk.

Ahoy Cap'n just a little info for you to chew on about the dos unrestrained in a vehicle......As far as I can see that falls under MGL CH90 24 subsection 2a Operating a motor vehicle in a manner which may endanger the lives and safety of the public. The key word being may. They only have to prove that the dog caused the driver to operate in an unsafe manner..... nuff said?

Hi Buzz, you are looking at the building from the back parking area not Route 28

I drove by the accident reconstruction this morning and saw cruisers from as far away as Harwich, was this a training session? Closing the road off was a smart idea, but this other accident happened less than a mile from the previous one. Granted there may have been extenuating circumstances i.e. medical condition, but it doesn't lessen the fact that auto manufacturers seem to be sacrificing safety for lighter cars that get better gas mileage. I would rather have my family be safe, than save a few bucks on gas.

I realize drivers are getting younger these days, but..........10 yrs old? Someone hit a wrong key?

With all of the distractions for todays drivers, I wonder why there aren't more accidents. Cars have become traveling offices for some people, and make-up parlors for others. There has to be a more conscious effort by drivers to pay attention to the road and conditions rather than apply make-up and chat about whatever.
