I believe the law says Statutory regarding the age- consentual or not the law is the law and it works both ways- and quite honestly Murr is right- an offender is an offender- and I agree also- shoot 'em all in the pee pee-

The whole scenario is tragic- this man did not deserve to die and Officer Van Ness did not deserve being placed in a situation to discharge his weapon-IF Martins had done as he was told and stopped- the worst he and his family would probably be facing would be his deportation, not trying to raise the 14 grand to get his body home. It's unfortunate that our system has become such that there is no need to care about respecting authority, laws and our country. Yes we are the melting pot and our ancestors and all that- but oh yeah, there was that thing about being here legally. As it unfolds we may or may not, depending on what our DA feels like telling us, find that many facts could surface- but ya know what-when John Q Law turns on the blues-pull over and face the music-and like Buzz said in an earlier comment-the headlines could have read very differently! My symapathy to ALL the families involved!

I'm guessing book, you may be unfamiliar with the bay area. It wasn't as though the youngtser was just down the beach a bit. He was considerably further than that..... Luckliy the boy had the presence of mind to stay with his board-which depending upon the circumstances (which I don't know) could have helped the outcome be this and not a tragic one. KUDOS to all the people involved in the search-and like you, I am glad that this had a happy ending.

Bopo-don't forget the winding roads-the speed limit in many sections from 132 east to the village is 25 to 35 with a small section at 40 down by Howard Boats-People drive entirely too fast! I have to pull out onto 6-A every day and have very sharp (blind) corners on either side of my drive- guess what- people speed through there in excess of 40 - and i pray each time, listen, hope the mirror on the tree doesn't let me down and hope for the best - glad that no one was seriously hurt-and dpie- i did hear the circus was in town!! too funny!

whoops -lately ISN'T the way everyone drives.....

CC dude chill! Do we wonder if the car to the rear had been the appropriate distance behind (which lately seems to be the way everyone drives) AND paying attention-odds are the accident PROBABLY wouldn't have occured-Old Bass is a road that you probably shouldn't be speeding and it's pretty densly populated- AND maybe, just maybe more people ought to use a bit more courtesy and become IDIOTS - there ain't nothin' wrong with that!

If I may please...alcoholism is not a CUREABLE disease. It is a disease that, by doing the right things, can be put into "remission" Alcoholics are NEVER free from their disease, they can only do what they need, and most know what that is-
