Grab your kids and make them look at these pics! This is what people look like when they take drugs - did you see the rash on his neck and elsewhere? This guy is a sad example of a drug-addicted soul.

They look like they don't have a lot of tread on them. How the heck did she do that? Perhaps speed, inattention and cell phone usage perhaps? Luckily, her injuries were not life threatening and she didn't take anyone else with her!

By the way, on another note...does anyone think it's a little unnerving to see the large ERA ad on this page with Amy's picture as owner/principal? I think the ad gurus might want to take a look at, um..revising it? Just a thought...God bless and rest in peace, Amy.

Phish - do you know what the "fullest extent of the law" is? A slap on the wrist and then they are labeled a "Sex Offender" for the rest of their lives! Oh, boo hoo! If it were MY child that was assaulted, I would have NO problem dishing out vigilante justice, as I have not seen positive proof that our justice system (as it is) can truly and effectively punish these offenders. And, I know that I am just putting a voice to the words that many, many people think.

phish: as a survivor of chld rape from an uncle of mine over a period of 7 years, my wish is that every pedophile (man or woman) could be tortured and then hung for all the public to see.

Sorry about the confusing sentence here...."employer does not offer it and the insurance offered to her is very expensive."

I have a friend who drives a special needs bus for one of the school districts here on the Cape. Evidently, there are many people under the impression that all the school districts pay almost all if not the entire cost for health benefits for these employees. This is not true. My friend works, basically, to cover the cost of health insurance for herself and her family, as her husband's employer does not offer it and her the insurance offered to her is very expensive. She is not "rolling in dough" by any stretch of the imagination. Let's all be careful what we post here, as the truth can get lost when you speak in general terms about an issue. Thank you.

towguy: Do you really think that driving on a suspended license is a mistake? how about it's an attitude of "eh..no big deal - they won't know unless I get stpped". I actually knew a couple of these "upstanding citizens" when they were younger and they were well on their way to their hoodlum ways when they were 9 years old! They ALL deserve to have their faces and charges publicized and if I ever do anything THAT stupid, then so do I!
01/07/09 @ 9:37 pm
selkie...you are kidding, right? a "good reason"??? There is NEVER a "good reason" for ANY kind of abusive treatment of one person to another - ESPECIALLY a man to a woman! My ex-husband never needed a "good reason" to beat me and act insane - that was just his nature. Perhaps you should volunteer in a battered woman's shelter to find out what these guys use as a "good reason". You have shown yourself to be a true idiot.
12/21/08 @ 3:12 pm
exopd: The proverb actually goes: "the love of money is the root of all evil". And yes, you are accurate when you say the pay is better than at Burger King, but if all of these snot-nosed kids actually took a step back and looked at what their "peers" have to show for all the drug dealing and arrests, etc. the smart choice would be Burger King.
12/21/08 @ 2:16 pm
Simplechick, Are you kidding? You are no more a teacher than I am a doctor! You are probably one of the 14-yr. old "groupies" that these low-lifes will undoubtedly have hanging around for some time to come. Now, step away from Mommy's computer and GO DO YOUR SPELLING HOMEWORK!
12/20/08 @ 12:22 pm
You can blame whomever you like - there is plenty to go around. Let's start with the upstanding citizens we call the parents - Dad in jail for 35 years for drugs (of course, he was framed). Mom is raising the other hoodlums on her own and probably decided to turn her back on where all the money comes from (if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude). Add in the DSS people that SHOULD have looked at the situation a long time ago seeing that the kid was a product of a drug dealer and was arrested himself for the same thing! Mix them all together, add outside influences and the REST of the dysfunctional family and what do you expect? I have NO sympathy for the parents after hearing all the info so far - you reap what you sow.
12/03/08 @ 1:09 pm
They were going to take the truck out and have sex on top of it like in the movie a few years ago. I would say not the brightest bulb in the package! I feel bad for his dad who is a captain on the FD. He must be mortified!
12/03/08 @ 1:06 pm
This information is old, as far as news goes - there was a landscaper today who lost his vehicle to an electrical fire and there was a brawl in Dennisport last night with more than one person injured (two stabbed). Where is the news reporting on those items? I am really trying to be able to stay informed and up to date, but I guess this isn't the place for it. Too bad it has become second-rate.

In response to: Harwich police officer shoots suspect
I will say this, though. The Harwich police officer showed us that even though he felt threatened, he was able to think clearly enough to incapacitate the suspect instead of killing him. Kudos to that officer. This suspect will have to answer to his violent behavior in our local court. (Can we vote for life without parole or the death penalty for domestic abusers?)

I live one street over from the Telegraph Road drug raid and just a very SHORT way away from the Willow Street incident. What is the Dennisport area coming to? I have lived in the same neighborhood my entire life (53 years) and I am beginning to wonder if all the "wanna-be gangstas" are going to take our little piece of paradise over too!
08/16/08 @ 10:38 pm
According to the story, the person who sold her the 60 grams was a police officer and it was a controlled sale.
08/16/08 @ 5:14 pm
What is the mother of that 3 yr old thinking? That is child endangerment at its worst! I hope DSS has removed that child from its idiot mother!

In response to: Do you wish summer was over?
I don't exactly wish the summer were over, but sometimes I wish there were a separate season just for the locals to "play tourist", as it were. I find that working 70+ hours year round leaves no time for me to enjoy the summer warmth and tourist attractions. I just get to sit in traffic while I try to get to my daily destinations. As one who was born and brought up here (and still live next door to my childhood home), I have to say the Cape has grown in leaps and bounds - especially the year-round population! I am 53 years young and it never ceases to amaze me how much traffic Dennisport itself can hold in the summer, nevermind the rest of the Cape. Ah....up to my room for some quiet time, I guess.
07/30/08 @ 6:52 am
But officer, you don't understand! Here's how it happened...I was on my way to my friend's house to play XBox and I was listening to my IPod cause I don't have a radio in my car. I saw these two backpacks on the side of the road and I picked them up so they wouldn't get run over. When I was putting them in the car to bring them to the police station, my cell phone must have fallen out of my pocket. I noticed it when I went to call you guys to tell you about the backpacks. Anyway, that's why I was walking along the road, looking for my cell phone when you found me. The End. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
07/30/08 @ 6:44 am
Yikes! Why would someone even THINK that they needed all those firearms and ammunition? To his wife - you go girl! Stay safe.
07/28/08 @ 6:37 am
woof! capedoggie, it is neither, thank you for asking, though. btw, why do you call yourself a dog? a little less self-assured than the rest of us when you look in the mirror? it's ok....here's a treat and then back to your crate. oh, and don't pee on the floor.
07/27/08 @ 8:03 pm
Oh and mon, I don't really think he's tipped off, do you? I really don't believe he is sitting in a motel room or wifi cafe somewhere reading these posts. He has more important things to worry about.
07/27/08 @ 8:02 pm
Guys - do you really think that anyone might "forget" a name like Rockefeller? Give me a break. And for your info, usps, I don't tend to take most of the comments seriously unless they are written in such a way to be purposely offensive. By the way - perhaps you should watch your little comments before someone decides to "go postal" on you. Sheesh!
07/27/08 @ 5:22 pm
everyone here can speculate about the cirumstances all you want - but we all need to wait for the facts of the case. I have wondered for years, though, why they have to shoot to kill someone? Why not maim them - blow out a knee or a shoulder or something. Let them live to face a trial. I don't get that part of police shootouts that (on the surface) don't seem to warrant that type of full on assault. Just wondering.
07/27/08 @ 5:19 pm
btw Tim - any name for that young man shot by YPD?
07/27/08 @ 5:18 pm
Mon - what the heck is that supposed to mean? Do you think an Amber Alert is some kind of joke?
07/25/08 @ 11:51 pm
While we are on the subject of spelling errors, I would like to point out to vic and buzz that you both spelled my name incorrectly. It is not busababe or busabe...it is b-u-s-b-a-b-e busbabe, as in school bus. If you are going to chastise me, the least you could do is spell it correctly. Thank you. Carry on.
07/25/08 @ 5:42 pm
BTW - what makes you think I know nothing about accident recon or investigations? I didn't ask for anything to be "thrown together", but I will guarantee that it did not have to take as long as it did, given the actual facts of the case and the admittance from Mr. Price that he did, in fact, fall asleep behind the wheel.
07/25/08 @ 5:38 pm
I am very satisfied. My only point was that if it were not an inmate, charges would have been brought almost immediately. Go back in the archives of CWN and the Cape Cod Times and see for yourself. Maybe the family of the young man who was killed can have some closure now.
07/21/08 @ 8:48 pm
Oh, gee whiz local. I guess I didn't ask your permission to ask a question first. I am sooo sorry, oh master of CWN. Oh yeah, you don't know me at all, so you have NO idea whether or not I am or am not a busbabe. Why don't you go stick your head back up your ass and go back to sleep.
07/21/08 @ 8:08 pm
Just a question....where is today's news? It is the 21st!

It has been a rare slow day...I'll try to find something to post-TC
07/20/08 @ 9:29 am
My guess is that the investigation of the pedestrian hit last night will conclude a lot sooner than that of the inmate who was struck and killed recently. If I were to fall asleep behind the wheel and veer off the road, killing a pedestrian (and NOT an inmate) I am sure I would have been charged that same day with vehicular manslaughter at the very least! What is taking the D.A's office and police so long to admit that this kid KILLED someone? I didn't even know either of the young men, but the man who died had family and friends. It doesn't matter WHY he was on the side of that road. What matters is that he was killed by another person who, for whatever reason, was driving while impaired. I implore the "powers that be" to do the right thing and bring the charges forward. Let the court sort it out afterwards. It was a tragic situation for all involved, but the person who hit the inmate and killed him still gets to go home each night to his family.
07/20/08 @ 9:23 am
Cru ~ it is a sad commentary on the state of our public safety officials when one can target the child of someone who may not be a favorite person of the local D.A. If this, in fact, did happen, you should pursue the information on the officer as zealously as possible and do not let him get away with this, as your daughter may be one in a long line of young women he has intimidated in this manner. If it did NOT happen, then you are obviously either paranoid and have a persecution complex or a complete liar who would make this all up in order to further your hatemongering. I certainly hope the latter is not the case.
07/18/08 @ 9:34 am
rapunzal - good morning! my dad actually came to my office and asked me to check on CWN. he had heard something about it on the scanner, but hadn't caught the whole thing. have a great day everyone!
07/18/08 @ 7:34 am
Tim: What is happening this morning in front of the Cavalier? I heard it was some kind of accident perhaps involving a town or state vehicle?
07/14/08 @ 7:27 pm
Apparently, if there was no foul play involved and the person was bloodied and deceased, there is but one conclusion. That said, you guys have no manners or mercy. I would not want to be a family member of that tortured soul and read what most of you morons here have written. Unfortunately, people who read these posts will assume that everyone who posts here has the same type of cold hearts that you people have demonstrated. SHAME ON YOU!
07/02/08 @ 7:02 pm
Unfortunately, marco, you can send these scofflaws to jail, revoke their licenses for life and they STILL don't get it. It doesn't matter what the legal system does or doesn't do to them. If they want to drink and drive, they will find a way and we will keep footing the bills for higher insurance rates and public defense attorneys, as well as for damages to our homes, vehicles and to ourselves. *Sigh*....the drunks have all the rights in the world and the hard working, paycheck to paycheck living public gets all the crap, as usual. Go figure.
07/01/08 @ 12:32 pm
Just so you know...it isn't just the foreign bicyclists that are guilty of RLA (riding like a dumbass). There are plenty of locals who do it too - just sit by the bike trail on Depot St. You will definitely notice them. I have two boys from Bulgaria spending the summer in my home and they are very careful. I even gave them reflective vests to wear while they ride, as they work nights. They use the bike trail and follow the rules of the road. It's too bad that a lot of the people driving cars out there can't follow the rules of the road as well.
06/30/08 @ 8:02 pm
Monpon...that is rude and racist! How DARE you talk like that about visitors here. She obviously is too young to have had a hand in that part of history. Shame on you!

In response to: Severe thunderstorms on Cape
First, a thank you to Ofcr. Mirisola for his heroic act. Also, a thank you to the police dept. (and the voters) who decided to have the police carry the defibrillators! Secondly, a HUGE thank you to whoever called the police and reported the woman who struck that child in the face! Too many people today "don't want to get involved". The person who got involved has more than likely saved that defenseless child from a horrid life.
06/17/08 @ 12:21 pm
I have a question....does the host family where the players were consuming alcohol also have some responsibility here? After all, they know that these players are most likely underage.
06/16/08 @ 9:12 am
murr...it is only one member of that family that is having a problem. please do not besmirch the rest of the family for the mistakes of one member. that is not fair and you wouldn't appreciate the negativity if it were your family. I happen to know the family and they are deeply saddened by this turn of events.
06/11/08 @ 3:15 pm
Tim: Winslow Gray Rd. almost at Amelia...many, many police cars, yellow crime scene tape...methinks somthing bad happened. Can you enlighten the nosy among us?
06/09/08 @ 10:34 am
I was told that this same young man was hit approx. 2 yrs. ago at about the same spot! It was, again, apparently a hit and run scenario. He spent quite a bit of time recovering from the accident. Our prayers are with him for a speedy and complete recovery.
06/08/08 @ 3:05 pm
Tim: Anything about the accident (mv vs. m/c on suicide alley this afternoon? A friend of mine called me to tell me the vic was known to us. Sounded pretty bad.
05/29/08 @ 4:53 pm
Ok Kevin....it's been almost two hours since the accident - where's the story about my bus???? Ha ha!
05/28/08 @ 7:29 pm
One more thing....marco....with the insinuation that they were all listening to "hip hop" - that may be true, although you must be careful in generalizing here - that very well could be construed as racist...as in, if they are listening to "that type" of music, i.e., "hip hop" then they must be "bad kids" or criminals. My daughter is 23 and listens to hip hop (among other types of music) and she is a totally well brought up, polite, hardworking young lady who is also putting herself through college.
05/28/08 @ 7:25 pm
ok - has anyone really even read the Help Wanted section in the newspapers? Who says there are no jobs out there? There may only be jobs that are "beneath" these upstanding citizens, but there ARE jobs - take it from a person who has two currently and after July 4th will have three. If you are someone who does not want to feed off the system and have things "handed" to you, then you will be able to find a job. If you are of the lazy, useless variety of human being, then you will not be motivated enough to find a job, therefore doing whatever is necessary to support your drug/alcohol/lazy lifestyle. Let's face it - if you are going to sit around and play video games all day or sleep or hang out with your "peeps" then you will not want to leave your luxurious surroundings to actually do physical labor or serve burgers (God forbid!). The people who come to this country to BETTER THEMSELVES by "taking" the jobs that are out there, have much more pride than the rest of us in general. So sad, but true.
05/27/08 @ 9:07 pm
They need jobs, yes, but they are of the "entitled" generation....they obviously feel that they should be able to take things that other people worked hard for! They want their money the "easy", lazy way. What do we expect, really, though? We can't discipline our children without the state breathing down our necks - they have taken God out of the schools - the legal system coddles criminals and almost no one these days accepts responsibility for their actions - it's ALWAYS someone else's fault!
05/13/08 @ 10:23 am
I'm not sure I want them breaking my door in...I just remodeled. Maybe I will leave that one open and put some Oreos and milk on the counter next to my purse.
05/13/08 @ 8:05 am
You know, the more details I hear about the alleged kidnapping and assault, something just doesn't seem right...I have my own theories and I pray that this young lady is ok, no matter what...but I am curious to see how this all plays out and ends. Maybe it's just me......
05/12/08 @ 7:27 pm
Ok Tim....where are all the cops going in Dennisport? SP cruiser, followed by 2 townies headed down Upper County about an hour ago towards Job Lot....does it have anything to do with the kidnap and assault? Looked pretty serious to me. I would have followed 'em, but I was walking home from work.
05/12/08 @ 6:28 pm
Criminy! I haven't locked my doors in 31 years. I don't even know if we have a key! Guess a trip to Home Depot is in order. What a sad commentary on today's society. Prayers for the girl who was assaulted. :(
05/12/08 @ 5:21 pm
Ok thanks.
05/12/08 @ 3:32 pm
Darn it! I meant Sunday morning not night...duh
05/12/08 @ 3:32 pm
Thanks, Tim! By the way, I called in an "impaired driver" to the DPD on Sunday night around 1 AM....do you know if she was taken into custody? I met the officer at Cumby's on Rte. 134 after following her on a harrowing journey through Yarmouth and Dennis.
05/12/08 @ 2:25 pm
makes me glad I'm on the "south side" of Dennis! :))
05/12/08 @ 2:24 pm
I was wondering the same thing - seems to be about the same general area...hmmmm
05/12/08 @ 8:32 am
Oops - before you spellcheckers get on me, I will correct myself....."I might want to BUY a new ball..."
05/12/08 @ 8:31 am
I am thinking that I might want to by a new ball, rather than go through all that trouble. File this under "What Were They Thinking?!!"
05/08/08 @ 2:24 pm
Hey NEWSFLASH!!!! Just because you work for the town or are a public official, doesn't mean they won't take action if you do something against the law. Shoulda thought of that before, silly wabbit!
05/04/08 @ 1:58 pm
Amazing that people think it's ok to destroy property. FYI to whoever vandalized the buses - we STILL get the kids to school. The people you inconvenience are not specifically the bus co or the school...it's the parents of the special needs students or the preschoolers whose buses you tampered with. Oh... I get it! You are the kids who do this kind of thing because you have no where to legally ride your ATV's!
04/30/08 @ 5:47 pm
Continued......as the driver heads down the aisle, he/she is unbuckling the panick-stricken children, who could range from K thru Gr. 3 or K thru Gr. 5. They are pulling on the belts and some of them may have jammed, or the students are just too panicked to take them off themselves. The smoke is getting thicker and the fire is spreading. You, as the driver have to decide who to save.....could YOU handle that decision? How about if you are the driver and you CANNOT help them? Then what? No....PLEASE....as an assistant school bus co. manager, I hope seat belts NEVER become mandatory on our school buses.
04/30/08 @ 5:41 pm
With regard to the comment about seat belts on school buses....in theory, it seems as though that would be a "no brainer" but, you need to take a few things into consideration that most of the public does not understand. All buses are now built with "compartmentalized" seats. That means that the seats are built in such a way to keep the riders very safe in the event of an accident or sudden stop. IF the children are seated as they are supposed to be (back against the seat, facing forward and not hanging out in the aisle) then they would most likely not be seriously injured in a "normal" crash. Of course, if there is a rollover, we all know that no matter how well the seats are built, this may not save them from more serious injury. That being said, imagine that you are the driver of the 70 students behind you in the bus. There is a fire that breaks out on the bus. Even if the driver is incapacitated, the students are all taught and drilled twice per year on safe bus evacuation. Add seat belts to that mix. The driver gets out of his or her seat and starts down the aisle.

04/14/08 @ 7:49 am
Depends on the kind of tree, I would think.
04/09/08 @ 8:02 am
I am wondering if this guy has done this before to the aunt? Has his daughter witnessed actions such as these in the past? I am hoping that DSS or someone steps in to help this young lady with a horrible situation. As a survivor of domestic violence myself, my heart goes out to her.
04/08/08 @ 5:43 pm
I think I speak for all of us here when we say we are all thinking good thoughts for Sharon and praying very hard for her to recover.
04/03/08 @ 8:10 am
I am sure that the young man in the Range Rover felt a) that now he was licensed, he could handle speeding and b) that his dad's expensive Range Rover would protect him from getting in an accident because they handle so well! It's really unfortunate that there seems to be a block to the common sense part of the brain when you are a teenager.
04/03/08 @ 8:06 am
People fail to realize that when they indulge in criminal behavior against others and they have children, then the children become involved in the chaos and "payback" and then become victims, sometimes tragically. Something for you "adults" to think about the next time you go "gangsta" against others.

Gram - stay home or take the B Bus! Yikes! I saw the accident after it happened and Gram was as cool as a cucumber, sitting in her car and observing things. I am glad she's ok, though and that no one else was involved.
03/29/08 @ 6:36 pm
ok that's it! I am moving out of Dennisport. Aren't there any more towns to have MV accidents in?
03/28/08 @ 6:40 pm

My apologies to you, dilligaf. The specific law is in the MGL Ch. 90B, Section 26. It addresses the fact that the person operating the ATV may not be under the age of 14 unless supervised by an adult AND on their own property or property where they are renters, family or have an interest, etc.

to dilligaf - the law that states that it is ILLEGAL to ride them on public property or private property without the owners permission. With the actions that ensued by the people who were with them, do you think that perhaps they KNEW it was illegal? Before you ask a stupid question like that in order to make me out to be a liar, check your facts!

It is so heartbreaking that the son was so grossly injured in this accident. Perhaps if his father followed the LAW and didn't encourage his son to disobey the law as well, this never would have happened. I'm sure the dad feels a lot of guilt for this and well he should! SHAME ON YOU MR. COYNE! Do you have any idea at all how much your son will suffer and for how long from this accident?!! I certainly hope you don't treat your painting customers with the same indifference you do with the law!

Congratulations to "Chief" Almonte! He has always been a wonderful guy. I went to school with him and our children played hockey together when we were "older" married folks! Very nice family and I think he will do an excellent job in the Chief's position. Kudos to the Town for recognizing that!

Regarding the stolen ATV......did Mr. Walker conveniently "forget" that the ATV didn't even belong to him and was stolen???? Maybe he thought the police were too stupid to run the VIN #. Hmm...a tad ironic, don't you think that the perpetrator of the first crime became a victim of the second? Get a clue boys...crime doesn't pay! Get a job and BUY yourself an ATV.

with regard to the OUI crashes - the one this afternoon happened in front of a school bus. That's right - a school bus LOADED with children. The idiot drunken driver could have crashed into the bus, injuring or killing up to 65 children! What is the matter with people? It seems like no matter how much law enforcement goes into the drunk driving issues and how much we educate the public, the epidemic continues. A case in point - the horrific car crash right in front of my home two nights ago, killing a young man - the DRIVER was drunk! Perhaps harsher penalties? I don't know the answer, but the solution COULD be - if you drink even one, DON'T BE A DUMBA$$ AND DRIVE YOUR CAR!

In response to: The 2008 Nader: Unsafe at any election
The accident happened right in front of my house. People...PLEASE.....Depot Street is NOT the Indianapolis Speedway! The speed limit is 30 mph for a reason. There are no sidewalks and the road is heavily traveled, especially by the large trucks from Robert Our, etc. The road is also very deceiving, as where the accident occurred there is a slight curve and rise in the road. You are airborne if you go too fast. This is not the first fatal crash on this stretch of road.
