don't hold your breath, some people are immune from negative press and some get it whether they deserve it or not.

What is wrong with Barnstable?
Why is a crazy group of local bloggers all over the town government and supporting people like Milne?
Why don't the local papers cover these things in truth? Why do some papers seem to cover this stuff up?
Perhaps it is the media that corrupts...

Why is the town letting the Bookstore continue to operate when they have not upgraded their septic?
That seems like what Codpiece is wanting to know?
You seem to have all the answers when it comes to the BS, why are you spending so much time avoiding the question?"

hey - just because welfleet has a problem with septic seepage in its appointed and legislative boards and commissions doesn't mean the rest of the cape's town officials are corrupt!
Some of them serve long hours take lots of crap and manage to keep sewerage from seeping into the process.
Welfleet needs a good clean sweepage of its seepage.

Does this vote of the board of appeals now mean that NO ONE can set up shop there or is that only for out-of-towners who have a track record of successes?

What a great opportunity for Welfleet!!
But, the Bookstore people realized it was going to happen and needed to move fast!
"Not so fast, on February 8th , 2008 a complaint was filed in Barnstable Superior Court by Attorney John P. McCormick or Orleans on behalf of Central Wharf Associates, LLC, naming the Wellfleet Board of Appeals, the owners of the property and Steve Swain as defendants. The ten-page complaint alleges the plaintiff as a party aggrieved is requesting the Court to annul the Wellfleet Board of Appeals decision..."
WHY??
These guys were going to resurect an empty business, and they were going to use innovative environmental tools to handle everything from lighting to septic.
Aren't rumors suggesting that the abutters and their restaurant are violating septic regs? ... perhaps they might have worried that would come to light??
I am wondering - please - what was the complaint that was filed? What was the issue??
In response to: Small town politics destroys a "Pearl"
I am reading these comments and am appauled at the representation of the welfleet state of mind!
Do people in Welfleet consider this brand new - envronmentally responsible - restaurant that wanted to buy and serve locally grown veggies, locally caught fish etc... employ new alternative energy, alternative septic - etc ideas as a CHAIN? Is this because the owner has had other locally successful restaurants?
Welfleet has lost an incredibly promising opportunity.
This is one exit I will now skip when traveling the lower cape area. IT seems as though that's the way they want it there....
Keep it as you want it, if you aren't related to someone in town you can't open a business -- if I am not related to someone in town, then I guess we won't patronize either - we will stay here in our other towns on the cape where we welcome new people and new ideas....
