my bigger question is what is a kid that age doing with a gun,, where there is a smoking gun there is always trouble. My almost 19 years seems to get along without on just fine, and yes I know his friends, and where he is and he still updates us on where he is going and where he will be and calls when is running behind... I know at 18 you are "considered" and adult, but give me the break not him. So my kids does good, works hard, and is an upcoming community leader,, if anyone "gets off" what incentive does that give my son to stay clean,, hu,,??

This sounds better the my Baptist upbringing where we needed a committee to form a committee to determine if we needed to buy light bulbs for the restrooms that burnt out 3 months ago. Yikes,,,

10/12/09 @ 1:45 pm
The whiny butts in Mashpee need to get it together, Pit Bulls in and of themselves are not bad. Yes there needs to be insurance liability, but basically trying to wipe them out of existence by the rest of the garbage is not right. Yes there are irresponsible owners but that could be just as much for a Poodle as for a Pit. I hate Poodles as I as bitten by a poodle, do we band or put such restraints on them, or what about the family's St. Bernard that bit their daughter in the face when in the middle of the night she got down and startled the dog. What about my former Chow, that was so dossal it would have licked you to death before it bit you, but she was a Chow. Let’s get some clear head thinking and stop making decision on what you are scared of and making a law on everyone because of your own paranoia’s.

Julie, I think that might have thinking that men don't by diapers is an old school of thought and is still stuck in some of the media heads. When I see adds that down grade men in the house and dummies there is talk in the office, with both the men and the ladies. There has been a major swing with the 20's and 30's and even quite a few 40 somethings that are sharing equal time raising the kids, doing house chores and making the purchases. Single Dad single Mom or duel parents the magazines and advertisers better wake up, cause they are behind the times. Keep up the good work Tom you have our support

In response to: Cape radio stations, CapeCod.com, declare bankruptcy
VideoPaul,, remember what is one mans trash is another mans treasure. The stations themselves all originated on the Cape, these are local people providing a local service, it is just the business side that is split on and off the Cape. Im not a NPR person, Im not hip/hop but there are many on the Cape that are NPR and some that are Hip/Hop, my point is WOMR is needed just as much as these stations are. They are good for the commuinity, with the right ownership and money managment

In response to: Cape radio stations, CapeCod.com, declare bankruptcy
Ok, how many of you have been in the Radio biz? ,, first I will give you the debt range is very questional, not just radio but any biz with the size of income to outgoing ratio that should be normally expected and in the radio biz for their market area. But the cost of doing radio today is not getting any better. The other big Owner Nassau Broadcasting has already had to restructure with Goldman Sachs earlier this year to avoid faulting on loans. My question is for a company that has boasted in being a Cape Cod based business why is a majority really owned off the Cape and I do agree in asking where the money is going when they have said they wanted to keep the money on the Cape. But these 4 stations combined I do not think are valued at what the debt is listed for, I would be surprised if they really are, especially in todays market. Interesting and sad

In response to: How would Single Payer work for you?
Mary, you really don't understand insurance do you? that which you speak of the 30 day is already in place with most "major" insurers. second Most doctors and facilities are against what you are proposing. Remember I have not read 1 person who thinks what we have is perfect. But single payer is socializem, and most Americans DONT want that. when the goverment runs things it cost me more, again per Obamha's mouth competition is good it reduces cost, yet he wants to eliminate that. Look at the Canadian system, as someone already noted, there is one hosptial reducing surgeries by 6000 to only those that are life issues, due to the system in such bad shape. Also you make the comment of doctors and patient's dealing with directly with one another. Not sure about your doctors but I talk to mine and they talk each other, call, send letters of updates and Im on and PPO plan. Even when I was on an HMO they did this. The goverment will NOT eliminate problems on this front it will only make it worse, at a higher cost to ALL legal Americans.

They have a combined years of over 250 years of, from General Practice to Cardiology, Podiatry, and a few others, (how come I come from the poor side, the preacher side ouch). Each one will tell you just look at the red tape they have to go through with Medicare. They as well as many of their friends will either take early retirement or not go into practice at all because of the mounting red tape worst then Medicare and at less money at the cost of Meat market practicing. One of the biggest things that could happen is pass Mal-Practice Caps, We in this sue happy society feel we all need to get rich at someone elses honest mistakes. Doctors are humans not gods. Second cap advertising budgets on drugs, where do you thing most of the RX costs come from now days,, research yes is one but advertising budgets are a sin. Last it would be cheaper to just pay for those who honestly can afford ins and let the 83% of the rest of us alone and leave my over taxed pocket alone,, Thank you

buzz; Food for thought, First when thinking about health care coverage, everyone want to blame the Insurance companies. however Most ins. comp. I know will pay for a trip to the moon if 2 things are applicable 1) If the service is Medically necessary, I dont think anyone will argue with that, and 2) if the company has bought the policy what's it covered. And 2 will always override 1. So with most policies which are group policies, its not the insurance company that is making the rules, this is fact. So saying something isn't covered because of pre-existing is most time NOT the insurance companies issues it the groups that carve these benefits out. Second if they don't to pay for a service they carve it out of the benefits. NOT the insurance company just not covering it for the heck of it. All services cost, if you want the whole kettle of fish, it ain't gonna cost the same as 1 fish. I supporting you Buzz,, Next I have a father in law who is a retired physician, a son looking to go into medicine, an uncle and his nephew in medicine, NOT a one supports this program. Continued ,,,

Mr. Bartlett: I am sorry you are so blinded by cateracts of years of bitterness. Many of us who oppose this so called reform do so not because we thing things are perfect and want to keep status quo. I will be the first to admit that the system needs worked on, and needs to be helpped. But there is a lot more in this bill that is so detrimental to our democracy that our forfathers are rolling over in thier graves with disgust. I would also think if you took the time to read what is in this bill you as a veteran would see that the freedoms you have fought so hard to help preserve for others is about to be taken away from you. Healthcare is only one part of this issue. Maybe there are a few brownshirts as you call it out there. But the majority are not. Wake up, before you find that all YOU have fought for has been taken away from you and give to the goverment to think and do for you.. You have your opion I honor that,, however I beleive you are dead wrong,, By the way leave the extrem radio talk hosts out of it, that is all they are extremest. Im not, one and dont support them.

mrosary: I understand you loss in many ways I wish I did not have to but do, having now lost a wonderful Mother in 1988 to cancer then my just as wonderful Step-Mother this year. Both were cremated , my mother we just allowed the funeral home to take care of, my step mother her daughter wanted to take and spread them someplace. The funny thing is was we went to take Dad's car and did not realize "she was in the car" till my wife looked into the bag and on top of the box was the certificate. That was a surprise. Then when my wife's aunt passed away a couple weeks later, my wife had offered to take and and spread on the old cemetery sight of her father somewhere in W.Va. Today her aunt is staying in the bedroom till they can get some dry weather to go.. We all have our reasons for keeping memories of our loved ones, some we can laugh at, others we weep over. Will lift a pray that someone has a heart to return so you can put everything to rest...

Bittersweet; with all due respect,, lets not even start on Israel, that is a whole nother issue. Does not fall into this same situations as Iran, North Korea and the Taliban.. War is not pretty, not wanted but a necessary evil sometimes,, We honor those who have done thier duty either by choice or by draft as they have gone and serviced.... Peace is a wonderful thing but when someone else does not want peace do we just let them overrun every one. Yes work for peace first but in the end we should not be afraid to stand up for what is right in the end, war or no war.

My father and father in law have see wars, as although no one likes war, (except the extremest) war is inevitable. We who old to a HIGHER calling believe that peace is always best but there are times we have to stand up for our rights and rights of others who can not. For this we honor our dead, for this we honor those who live and have service for those who wanted to and could not service in the military so gave in other ways that no one else could we honor them.. Sorry you can not see past that issue. Memorial Day may those who have gone before may we remember them always....

Capenancy,, do you really know the difference between a full degree and an Associates degree? second Blackjackbarnes, you are correct about the Masters most do not have masters,, just a standard BA in education and to the level they are going to teach. Both have their pluses and minuses. My daughter graduated from a private school 98% go on the college, my son went then transfered to public in high school, he is doing just as well, only his school 85-90 percent go onto college, the thing is we have the benefits of a more affluent neighbors around us. Other schools in our area are not so lucky. Bottom line, school is what the parents make it, private or public

Jonathan, not sure what you call "yucking" it up. Apparently you have not been close to may Fire and Rescue people. First of all sometime the best way to keep your sanity is not take things overly seriously once the injured is in the next caregivers hands. If you do you will not get past what needs to be done. Second if you look at what they are motioning about, trying to figure out just how he got his car in there the way he did. Sometimes just trying to figure that one out is deserves a good yucking in itself. I have a brother in law, and his two sons are either fire and or rescue and his son in law, between them they have combined over 100 years experience between the 4 of them and some, and this does not even begin with his daughter in law who is a paramedic and my sister who has been a nurse and worked in ER many years over her 40 year carrier.. Bob W. I am looking at it from another stand point, someone who can assess without being directly tied to things, you might say an objective observer. I know the area well. Was just by it last week, Yes I was on the Cape last week and I can not agree more with Peter and voiceofreason22. I would like to put it in my sons word but will just say say it this way. Are you kidding me. The pluses so outway the objections you have got to be kidding me. And in today's times creating jobs as you go. The design is so Cape and so fits in with things. Think twice, then if you have to think again. The response was unanimous did you miss the memo. Oh well good luck Christy, and good piece WB.

Low purchase price, in on a new beginning and everything to gain. If they were doing this when everything was on the major upswing the start up cost would be greater and maybe not even feasible. One thing that if you ever have questions on a group that is calling for a donation is ask the caller what the percentage is that is going to the charity. If they can not give you the figure or it seems to out of wack its a red flag. Second, I like the suggestion to have them mail you information then do your research even if they do send you the info. And last again the other suggestion very rarely should you ever mail to a third party. There are some very good charities out there that do good work and are responsable with the money. We have one in Ohio that truely gives 100% of funds raised away. All are volenteers, the product is donated, and the community supports the cause. Anything less then 50% needs to be questioned, I might even go as high as 75% to the charity. Good piece of work.

Hey, watch that SuperStore thing,, In one of our suburban towns they did not want a typical looking warehouse box. It worked and looks really nice while giving the community jobs and some comp to the "other" SuperStores But I like the Whole Foods idea myself, we have on here and they are wonderful, Gives Trader Joe's a run for the money and they are soo much bigger.

Christy, pardon the delay, thank you for the answer, I knew cost were somewhat higher on the Cape but that much difference I didnt expect, that runs about 1/4 to 1/2 mill more then most off Cape sights (not city bound). I did figure worker cost were a little higher. As to Buzz comment, I wouldnt even make that bold of a statement if "Thee King" were to show up. Mav. I know we would like to blame everything on politics, but I just think is it the times. If Christy was everyones dream politician they would still nail him on the price of Gas, why because he is the outlet, not saying its right and pro Wind? the group of loud mouths against Cape Wind is really much fewer and could power a few turbines with their hot air then those that really hold that against him. Those that make decisions will always have a bulls eye on them, I dont think its fair but its true. Its more so, how does one handle it. And from everything I continue to see, Christy although I dont agree with everything, holds himself well in the storm. Only 3 more years, Change in Mass go Christy & Ohio go Kasich

Good time to explain about life to you son, that just because this one did not make, does not mean we stop trying. But life goes on. Heartless, no but reality, at any age. My Mother passed away when my daughter was 7, she got it better then most adult about Grandma not being here any more. Even 4 year olds get it.. Christy: I do have a question and I think in one sense Demo. has a valid question. I often wonder about it here in ohio as well, but more so when I travel to the Cape. What makes it that the Capes gas runs anywhere from 10 to 25 cents sometimes more a gallon then places just on the other side of the bridge. Even the Umass Turnpike was a few cents cheaper. I dont get it. The turnpike is just highway robbery (literally) I can even under tourist season to some degree (not really) but what is it now? Can you or anyone explain it. Just remember Bree, Most Republicans are not KKK advocates just like most Democrats don’t have it out for our military men. And there are Vegan Republicans as there are carnivores in the Democratic Party. One should not be ashamed to go the other parties side and learn what they are about, the only difference you ran into was you found one that belongs in Idaho or Wyoming, There a some that each party would like to say we don’t recognize but don’t ever be ashamed to leaning more of the other party. Next time just be a little more choosy to whom and where you get that information.

Hey I heard the last DODO bird was wiped out by a wind turbine, any truth to that?? Solon: One thing I have not seen anyone pick up on either, that is we live in a society where the government pays more for people to sit on their lazy rats rear or do nothing more then have babies that will bring in more unemployment dollars then to go get a job. When the government quits paying people to NOT work then maybe they will go get a job. Lack of workers and more jobs will eventually raise the base wages as well. But then again why work when you can let the someone else pay your way and live in subsidized housing. (I'm not talking about the people who have REAL needs. We all know the kind of people Im talking about).

Possee: I don't always agree with you but on this account I feel you hit the nail on the head. Its a double edge sword between making a living and paying wages. The problem is you force small business to pay more, they have to raise their rates to cover, then they loose the business and either lay off or go out of business. Cost go too high and the ever decreesing middle class like myself can not afford to come, not only takes away from my motel owner but my pizza guy and the clothing guy and the putt putt guy, ect ect ect.

I was going to comment but how ridiculous can we get. Im not a liberal republican or a conservative democrat nor an independent. I know what I stand for but to tell the truth the bitter idiocy of some of your comments are deplorable. There are opinions and comments but the mud slinging you folks do puts national tabloids to shame. If folks have nothing more then to display their hate for someone of either party, pick up your crap and move to Russia. Take a deep breath, disagree where you want, take a stand one side or another, but for the love of St Pete give it a break. If you have to make more of a scene then the actual stupid artical itself then you are making yourself look even dumber then the writers, which ever side you walk. Me? Strong military, less government pork spending, appropriate social spending. strong education, immigration reform (other then Native American's we’re all immigrants), major tax reform and evermore support for Israel. Solon, got a good one for you, my son is 17 he will be 18 in Nov. and just miss the vote, yet he is a member of the Ohio Army National Guard, (not yet through basic, senior in High School) but willing to serve his county and has spent more time talking to his friends about voting then most regular guys will in a lifetime. He went to Dayton and took a liberal undecided young man to hear the announcement of Palin as VP. He debates his views with peers that sees the other side and challenges them to think on the issues while he listens to them. At 17 he is more schooled in Politics and the Military then a host of many who are in politics and the military. Yet he can not vote yet. Those of you who don't get to vote, shame on you. Can't get out, absentee voting is available. Don't have transportation absentee voting, and you are never to old to be heard. He can't because of age by days. The rest of you don't have an excuse. Stop & Shop has much to learn and so does the other large grocery chains of New England. Someday they will wake up and take a few lessons from us here in the Mid-West (about the only things) first do the double coupon thing, and second the cents off gas for purchases. I do not promote one store or another, but our two biggest stores are Krogers and Giant Eagle. All you have to do is google them to see what they offer. I know Shaws nor Stop & Shop or A & P, are owned by these companies but when are they going to learn some lessons to first help the consumer and second to promote buying in their stores. Da..

Raspberry liqueur is about the only raspberry liquid I enjoy and I dont have the money to wast on liqueur so I do not buy much at all. I enjoy maybe a (singular) drink if the wife and I go out but that is it. Yes I drink Pina Colada's and sweet drinks, but will try just about anything once. I choose my cocktails for my recipes first by name (yes I know that is lame) then second would be something I would at least try more then once. I am an former smoker and they are worst at complaining about other smokers and I believe this is one of the worst idiotic ideas that I have heard of yet to "Ban" smoking on the beach. Roger I agree with most of what you have to say,, the second hand smoke I may have to question your information that it is not harmful, that I think is there is misunderstanding. However in the arena that is being discussed you are correct that to the most it is annoying. Littering thats another issue, there is already laws for that, so enforce that law, but we don't need more big brother. We just need a little more practical think and get of the knee jerk reactions. I am a non smoker, worse I am a former smoker having quit 9 years ago after a surgeon discovered a growth on the back of my throat that turned out benign. Some days smelling cigarette smoke bothers me, other days it does not, but if it does I move. Being outside is different then inside and although I do not condone smoking I don’t condemn the smoker either. Move down the beach with your kids, pick up your blanket and move, I did it this year with our European friends who smoke like chimneys. Why should I punish them for what they choice to do. I will be the first to support education to stop cigarette smoking, but I will no support making it illegal. As far as their litter, us the law that is already in place and fine them, but out-lawing smoking is not the way to go. Next it will be someone who doesn’t like something you do, and the worm will turn,, in time, hear me.

NRT: You raise some great points and but as wise note you cant reto back and change the rules in the middle of the game. I would agree that this monstrosity would be better served in a smaller scale but, time comes when we need to quite beating a dead horse and more on to the future. Change the rules from this point forward and learn from the past. It is much less the ulcer for leting what you cant change go.. If someday I am blessed to do what I would like to I would have to fall into those regulations, I dont want a trophy home infact I would want it to blend so it was almost invisable and let the natural beauty of the land be the trophy. Ok win one for the home owners as they followed the letter of the law. Now go forward and make do change.. Trust me there could be a lot worst going up there that would be legal.

Opin: Solon has the side burn right on the money, unless you are putting in an "outdoors kitchen" the burners they put in are not worth money or time. As for coveres I tend to disagree, I have watched my neighbors grills rust much faster then mine. I am a devote cover user. Some moister does get trapped yes but it is not open to the elements. As far as spiders well, I use mine all year round so much they do not have time to set up house and if they do I shoo them away. If you need a good recipe someone left a good EggPlant on the grill Idea over on my blog spot, check it out, tasty as can be.

Kr-give us .10, .20, .30, or .50 cents off a gallon 4 times in the next month if you spend so much the previous month in their stores up to a 30 gall limit. GE will give you .20 off for every $50 and will accumulate no limit on $$ off so essentially you could get your gas for free up to 30 gal limit at one 1 time. Stop & Shop has a ways to go here. Oh ya Kroger and GE both have there own gase stations along with the grocery stores kind a helps.

Cant wear the jacket any longer, pants still fit although snug.-- its one of the last things I have that my mother made for me before she passed away. Oh well. Airplanes, Church, big trips to the city, and even the doctors office you dressed properly for. Oh ya and the underwear thing,, my wife has threatened to carry a stapler around and staple some of these guys pants at their waste since they cant seem to buy pants that fit properly. Totally agree with you.

JB: accually the larger the company or church for more likely the chances of audit to occure. If not they are dumber then dirt. It is easier to doink the smaller companies and non-profits as non thinks twice, and most think everyone has good intentions. This all comes back to basic business practices, and one of our favorit phases,, CYA,,, Cover Your *&#. Larger compies shame on them if they are that dumb not to be doing it annually, but the smaller ones need to get into that mind set...

J.B.// A little tidbit about churches and funds. My wife is an insurance agent although she does the personal lines her boss does the commercial sales, specifically Churches. One question would be how could someone embezzle that much without knowledge? Smaller churches do not go through audits very often, and many of these get larger cash donations. This combination is trouble waiting to happen especially when unscrupulous people become "friends" of the church (denomination does not matter here). The red flag here is for other churches on the Cape and around even though it may cost a few dollars and no matter how trustworthy you think folks are, have an financial audit done on an annual basis basis and by an outside agent. It will build confidence if the person who is in charge of the pot is doing well, and will nab quicker those who are not so honest.
Have a great day on the Cape all

I have to say it: if your going to spell my name lets get it right it's GIMMI,, no E's or Y's about it.. Now how is a good parent like me gonna instill the nature of your comments if you cant spell my name right.... LOL,, Ok enough of that joke,
You are correct Kids need a place to Hang, but my 17 year has the respect of neighborhoods. He is respectful not to hang in "private" lots where shops are closed. Normally if and a BIG if he is out that late he is at a friends house with parents presents, he is accounted for and has an accountability. My question is were are the parents in this and do they really know where their kids are and what they are doing. I would bet over 75% would not. Lets account for some of the parents then the kids will follow, if the parents dont care why should the kids. What about a few parents having smaller groups over, and rotate, and second what about shutting things down at 11:00, why do they need to be out-out past 11 anyway, That is just trouble looking to happen..
Thanks from a parent

Mav: first my jerk reference was the way that NG came across, maybe I am being just a critical. But I though NG was a bit harsh in the tone of the delievery. Second; As I said depending on which side you read both side to argue a good storm till blue in the face. Trust me I used to sell Rexair Rainbows many years ago, we loved to follow Kirby salemen and they loved to follow us. I respect your opinion, whether I agree with it or not is not the issue at this point. I understand the Cape is not Europe. But I sell the Cape, from the Mid-West, and I have yet hear in my conversations that folks would not come if the wind farm was put in, and yes the conversation does come up. Dont take me wrong, the discussion still needs to be open and remember I did say this is not the "white knight" of economic and energy savings, but a start. Oh well, isnt good that we still like in a country were we can express our ideas and opinions. Have a great and wonderful day on Cape Cod.

Tony, Here is another Off-Caper view I think sometimes we who live away from the issues are not as wrapped up as those living so close. Here’s my take, you make some great points the Audubon Society ok’d this, so it’s not against the birds. Next there have been reports that state the fishing grounds could actually increase the fish count not depleted it, depends which report you want to read. Then you note social responsibility and being green. I liked Imco35’s thinking this will not solve all the Cape's energy issues but its a step forward and another to close down the power polluter and 9 million wasted dollars. Then there is the touristism, in Europe the wind fields have actually proven to generate dollars not drive the dollars away. Again you can find someone who will argue one way or the other on this. For me will it stop me from coming to the Cape, No. Do I think it will hurt the views No. do I think it is being wise to the environment yes. Make your list then weight the pros vs cons, I think you will vote for not against Wind Power. Just another humble opinion nothing else.

Nothing like taking a lit match to a can of gasoline with this subject. Buzz the one thing I agree with you is, a lot of women (and men) dont stop to think that the body sages with age and that beautiful dolphin now becomes a whale at age 65+. I know a couple of Tattoo artist who will not do the romance name because of the later regret factor. Tattoo's are neither moral or immoral in and of themselves. They create a stir in people of both good and bad. And CapeMom I do know a couple of CEO's with tattoos. We all say they are great for someone else as long as not on me and not on my kids. You know what if that is the only thing I have to worry about my kids doing,,, how lucky can I be. He has been close to his youth pastors and has chosen well his friends. We know where he is, not because we follow him, but because he tells us and then his friends parents brag on him. His female friends have also bragged on him and their parents as well. Is he perfect ? Heck no, he got his mouth and temper from me and the rest his mother, and his wisdom his grandfathers. But here again I am in my later-mid 40's, and moving from the Mid-west to the Cape is a near joke. Its not food or gas, or the cost of health insurance, and taxes are not completly out of sight,,,yet but the cost of home ownership. I can not even begin to think of buying on the Cape and bringing my kids and hopefully someday their grandkids because of that issue. I get nervious every year just hoping the hotel I stay at is still going to be in business the next so I have someplace reasonable to come back to. But as mentioned what can you do? I was told some 15-20 years ago on the Cape beware there is quickly coming the day when there will only be 2 classes of economics on the Cape, the upper class and the lower class and no middle class. David, I just have a couple notes, first just because one calls themselves as you state "Born Again" Does NOT make them out to be a member of the "Christian Right". Take first my father, a "white" middle American Pastor for 51 years is about as died in the wool Democrat as they come. Way too often we associate the mouth shooters, whether Pro-Liberals or Pro-Conservatives, grouping everyone within a "denomination" with that Pro direction. Even within the church I attend here in the midwest which you would call an Evangelical Church there are as many Democrats as Republicans. Being Born Again has nothing to do with Politics, so please do not group them all that way. I believe in separation of church and state, but I also believe that a President should have firm convictions on what he believes. Just wish they all would talk more about the issues then worrying about each others beliefs. Oh me, I consider myself a Moderate conservative, but am open to the best person for the job regardless of denomination, or faith or race. It will be interesting. Stay tuned

Second the Allowed business is a curtsey that I respect her enough, No I dont have to, but I choose to ask, we are going on 25 years and its only taken me 24.5 to figure this one out, and I am still not good at it, and last but not least we guys do hang at church and through choir practice. When you enjoy music as much as I do it is a very enjoyable time. I understand some folks dont understand the church thing now days, and especially the protestants. No I am not a "fighting fundy" or a radical evangelical, but I am strong in my faith and enjoy all it has to offer. People getting nasty when they dont need to, Name calling, people getting offended (some rightfully so) all for what in the end, we all lose on this one, as one of the main charaters that was a major wealth of information is now gone (wôpanâshqâ), and what are we left with a bunch of folks quibbling with each other.
As was said already one before, this is a blog, not a boxing right, not CC2days opinions or indorsments, it a blog, one persons sharing of information, (which I think we have all discovered the info has been called out and we have learned something) lets either get back to the original learning session or move on...
Jack I may not agree with where this has ended up but thank you for letting me comment.

Deltaman: I ditto your comments,,, what a shame, to loose what could have really been a shinning light of learning and encouragement.
wôpanâshqâ: Please done loose heart, some of us "uneducated's" are open to what you have to say in a pure sense of learning. We are not stupid (someone who knows the truth but disregards it for falshoods) we are more ignorant (we just have not been educated on this matter) but at least wise ignorants are willing to lean and can be taught, stupidity is just that stupid. I hope that you show up someplace in the future to continue your lessons. May you walk in true light and the peace it can bring.

Bittersweet: I understand what you are saying, but to yell your message at a few who need while driving off the mass is never good. better to have the ears of many then bother with scorning the few,,, " brush the dust from your feet of them (who dont want to hear the truth or are just arguative about it) and move on to those who want to hear and learn"

This is great, doesnt matter the denomination I have seen this in just about all. I have one more to add, and that would be the "sharerer". Why is it that in the middle of service when someone has to blow their nose in a cloth hankerchief do they then have to first check the contents that they just blew out of their nose (other then to be sure they didn't loose some of the important stuff. Second why must they share that blessing with the person sitting next to them? I just dont get it. blow it, fold it and put it away, no one else needs that kind of blessing,, trust me.

Personally I think with that attitute you dont deserve the Cape. It rocks my boat those who have such a wonderful oppotunity to live where you do and can only gripe. What a shame. No one will get rich from me, and my small dollars wont make or break anyone anywhere, but I support both those on the Cape and in Ohio because they are friends and acquaintances and I choose to support them. How selfish can you be, think first that way about "All" tourist and second even more me. Susan what a shame, you live in a wonderful place yet care nothing for those who make a living around you. If you hate the Cape that much, why dont you move. I may not be refined, I may not be that poetic, and most sadly I may not LIVE on the Cape. But I do take the Cape and its business personally for the sake of all my friends who are native to the Cape and who do make their living on the Cape. Seeing freinds over the past 40 plus years swing on making it or not because the weather is good and the tourist come and bring their money. It might not effect you personally but if it bothers you that much sell your place to someone who cares and move away. ---- continue to 2

Susan & Cricket, although I understand your frustration with mindless drivers and ill manored travelers who think that because they show up for a couple of days that they own the entire spit of land, remember we travelers (the rest of us, the good ones) bring our money, we help the keep the restaurants going, and help pay for gallery space and help fund the community events with the taxes we pay on goods we buy. So please dont think completly ill of all of us. The mindless few can take their money and leave but please dont lump us all in the same bunch. Thank you and still have a great day on the Cape, you get to live there, I do not have that opportunity yet, maybe someday.

Most the time I read and keep my big mouth shut, but on this I can not, first Sir Robert you hit the nail on the head. 2nd Oh the huge, you need to wake up, look past the boarder and oceans that surround the USA and read what is going on GLOBALLY, that is the BIG picture. I dont always agree with Bush but he is more right then wrong. The problem isn't the people who practice the Muslim faith in general but the ideology that is behind it. If you close your eyes and bury your head long enough all the problems of the world will seem to go away. The 10/40 window is being threatened by a system of goverment/religous/ belief that is suppressing, and controlling. It is done not by the radicals but by the quiet infiltration of propaganda on passive Americans who dont know what they believe anymore. Christianity is not the only religion at stake here it is all beliefs from Christianity to Judaism to even Atheism. The people are very nice but the system is not. Open your eyes and beware of what is going on around you both here in the USA and the World.

Angela,
Thank you for finding me, Dad will be speaking at the celebration gathering in November. He has very good memories of Fite and all the folks there including your grandmother. I remembe her well myself and she was a very special person. She and my mother (passed away from cancer in 1988) were very close and shared some very special times together. I was able to pass Milo Austin onto the Joyce who is heading up a lot of the goings on and hopefully he can either come or was able to contribute to the information. Pastor Austin I found out was at Fite from 1942 to 1944.
Have a wonderful day in Lord and if you are there for the celebration we may get to meet, and I will do my best to be there as well as I live only 35 miles from Marion.

Self Reliance Hybrid are not worth the money, even at the higher gas price, the extra amount they charge you for the vehical times the interest does not make up the difference for what you really save in gas. Also Insurance on electric cars are going higher and the cost to replace the batteries are outragouse. I agree we need to be more economical and need to look at better milage vehicals, but buyer beware. It isnt as it all appears on the surface. (my wife is a P & C agent and we know a lot off these facts first hand), the rest from research.

Funny thing this W.E.Day, my mother hated it, she was for women getting equal pay for equal pay, and for women voting athough she herself never did. She did not feel comfortable about it. But she hated the bombasticness that the women running it brought to the movement and how she felt it demeaned what she did everyday for the family she wanted no part of it. Interesting, my wife votes, and works outside the home (something my mother never did after being married) but still does not support the major womens movement for a lot of the same reasons my mother did. To bad we cant have our cake and eat it too. Only seems that we either get all the movement or nothing at all that this is not right either.

You are right gas is a tad cheaper here, and this week temps in the mid to upper 90's and not its not a dry heat either. But the Cape has the beach, has the ocean, has, well you name it. We do not lack of necessities in life but we do not have extra. Anon: With Dad being a Pastor he never made a lot of money, we never had extra to spend, even on vacation. The place we stayed was a gift as it was. When I got married we started with the cart before the horse and only by Mom and Dads gift, letting us stay with them for a week could we afford the Cape. When Mom passed away we started having to pay for places ourselves and have always just been happy to be able to be on the Cape for a couple days and when lucky a week. We are finaly getting to the point, with the daughter 22 and taking her own vacations and taking our 15 year son with her, we are starting to be able to look forward to doing some of these things. Mom and Dad finally went to the Islands 2 years before Mom passed away for the first time. Just wish she could have been around longer to do more, I would not wish her here longer as she was in much pain. She went home in '88 after battling 4 kinds of cancer for 8 years. Dad is now happily remarried, but not on the Cape like he used to. We have 2-3 years till son graduates private school, then we get a house payment back.

Peter P - that is the nice thing about the real Jesus, He does care about politics or "religon" or skin color, or how spiritually enlightened one thinks they are, His forgiveness and redemption are for everyone who will just believe in His name. First, my father's been a"pastor" for many years, I pray for your flock "Pastor E". Dad's a liberal by politics and a an evengelical conservative by religon. Some would say that's an oxymoron but, Dad preaches The Bible, The whole Bible, a message of love and forgiveness of sins. I'ld expect nothing less coming from a Universalist that sees all roads to heaven. Sorry but the Bible doesn't teach that. That's part of why there are so many religons, so many want to change what scripture has to say, such as you want to. Your thinking of Gods view on sin and what good and evil are all about are what is corrupt. Scripture states,"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Our Presedent at least seeks guidence from a higher calling first rather then himself. P Porcupine is correct and as far as seminary, dont ask, unfortunatly many seminarys are so liberal that even an athiest can get to heaven on his own merrits. Sad.

In food this is one of two things that are a must on our vacations, you locals need to discover it if you already havent.

P'Pine: Condos, my dear father never had much of a thing for investment and just didn't think it prudent to borrow that much money, he also had and opportunity to buy an empty lot on Swan Pond in Dennis, for 5K and passed it up as well. Dad at least can laugh about it today.

Magical: You are correct, the other name is "(blank) Forest" that leaves me laughing, it is actually sad, but that is a whole nother subject. Thanks for reading.

SM, This is Rockhopper, Peguins are a lot of fun to watch and to study. They are stick together for life. Although they seem like silly little bird they are very smart,,,, Thus one of the reasons I took the penname Rockhopper.

Please stick to the Pats, you do well there, however you are under estimating the Bengals, If Carson is on put a score more like 28-10. As far as Peyton, I dont like him either, but wishing injury in not cool. Half the reason we dont like him is he IS that good, the other half, is that to me he is his head is so big and an attitude the size of a hippo, just wish him bad luck, that will be enough and go Seattle.

P'Pine, Now that you say it, i remember but you had me on that one.
Pilgram- Paces was just east of Glendon beach, directly across from Campers Haven, it was a small grocery store with ice cream and lunch/snack counter. There is a white house there now, the newer owner of Campers Haven lives there. Oh well. fun to remember though. We had some friends that owned a trailer in Grindels until they a cottage that was the wifes parents came to them down in Chases Ocean Grove. Fun to remember these things, with snow outside. Have a wonderful Merry Christmas.

Pilgram: Do you remember Paces ? Right on Old Wharf Rd. The only problem I had with staying in Campers Haven growning up is I got spoiled with staying in such a nice place and so close to the water. When I got older and started to have to pay for places on my own I discovered how fortunate I was, as we used to stay in one on the cottages right at the front, and for a full month. Oh to 15 again and living with Mom and Dad without a care. Hope my son figures it out soon.
