Saw the aftermath of a rollover in Marstons Mills last night, 10-ish. Looked like an SUV had flipped right around where the stop signs are about 100 yards or so in from Route 28. I haven't seen any police reports here or CCT; has anyone heard any details?

In response to: Fall on Cape Cod means it's festival time!
Anyone know when/where this year's Eastham Turnip Festival is?

In response to: It's more than just tacos
Oh, and if it's fish tacos you crave - you should check out Finbars in Orleans (site of the old DQ, on 28 near the rotary) and the Juice in Wellfleet (on Commercial St).

You're in luck - Ay Caramba in Harwich has reopened as the Andale Cafe - same place, new owner, very similar menu, many of the same staff (the new owner is a former waiter) - definitely check it out.

And the burritos at the Corner Store on the Chatham/Harwich line (corner of Route 137 and Queen Anne), while not authentic mexican, are pretty darn tasty.

Let's get this straight ... they haven't fixed the septic system in almost 30 years since it was first deemed inappropriate, yet another 90 days will get the job done? Didn't the town council (or someone else in authority) say they'd used up all their goodwill sometime this spring?

I hope the DEP, the town, and everyone else in authority shuts them down until they finally get things fixed.

Anyone heard through the grapevine who the pedestrian was in that Eastham accident?

In response to: The voters of Wellfleet have spoken!
You keep saying that it was the BYLAW that shut them down - wrong, it was the ZBA's interpretation of that bylaw. Apparently, other town officials interpreted the bylaw differently and approved the project. Given the logic in my earlier message, I can see why the initial interpretations went in Pearl's favor.

Another Bookstore/Bombshelter connection is that a voting member of the ZBA has family who work for the Bookstore/Bombshelter yet chose not to recuse herself from the ZBA decision.

So, Clamshelli ... you keep talking about the BYLAW they were in violation of ... do you mean the "continuous use" bylaw?

If so and if the dates in question to qualify for continuous use were September 2004 to September 2006 (as ZBA vice chair Bruce Drucker was quoted as saying in the original report), and if permits were filed by ownership in August 2006 (also based on statements by Drucker), then I just don't understand the ZBA's basis for their decision.

I think, based on those issues at least, things smell pretty funny.

Sounds like something pretty hinky is going on in Wellfleet. Shame on them.

I'm going to encourage my friends to boycott the Bookstore and Bombshelter - though most of us live in other CC towns, we spend quite a bit of time in Wellfleet year-round, and especially n the summer. I'd love to see some good old-fashioned picketting happen - maybe Mac would be kind enough to make space for leaflets at his places - WHAT, too, perhaps - maybe even some of the galleries in town.

Good luck to Dana and Steve - I hope they get this settled quickly.
