Politics ???
When it comes time, who is going to push you off on your ice floe ???
Somewhat tongue in cheek because I know you would not pass muster politically on a certain defunct chat forum.

I left my comment earlier, but it disappeared, you must have read my mind as I was thinking a cache day on Nantucket would be a nice part of my upcoming vacation, take the bike, I actually was looking for a bike map for Nantucket this AM, Young's bike shop has what looks to be a good one. The only drawback is the 80 buck round trip from Harwichport ---

You must have been reading my mind. This AM, before the dawn, I was at my computer, downloading bike maps of Nantucket--Young's Bike Shop--seems to have a good one, and I was running a PQ on Nantucket--Why ? because we are only a couple of weeks from vacation and I was thinking that perhaps I could take the boat from Harwichport to Nantucket for a day of riding and caching. I hope the weather cooperates. I have already started putting my maps together, AND my plans.

For Ticks try Repel Permanone, contains permethrin, spray on clothes not skin, keeps them off . Tuck pants into socks.
Re: Fawn--they mistake approach to be the Mom, and come to see. Mom will leave fawn alone in woods for up to hour, fawn stays in one place but hears approach, thinks it is MOM. Have had this strange encounter a # of times and wondered , so I asked about it.
Doxyclicline I think is drug of choice for Lyme, but also drink tonic water, for they are now finding that some lyme is caused by a different agent, almost like malaria--name is Babiosis or something similar. The quinnine in tonic water is said to keep it in check.

BTW, Wing Island Walk was the first Cape Cod walk my family fell in love with, we would start with shoes, then they would come off after coming out of the Museum. Still love it.

I can almost smell the salt air, from looking at the pictures. I so do look forward to the trip up this year. But you forgot to mention some of the other parts of that area that are just plain wonderful to visit, Pleasant Bay, the Break--maybe next time.

I work almost exclusively on screen now, downloads, uploads, E Mails, so when the disconnect comes it is refreshing, I rarely walk with an I Pod, I never ride the bike with one, I too like the sounds, the feel and the smells. I don't text, it is hostile in its impersonality, therefore twitter will never appeal to me. I do however love to talk and do with anyone I meet where ever I am, I get a lot of are you talking to me, oh, I thought you were on the cell phone, I say hello to everyone I pass on my walks, I wave to all the other bicyclist, I am the neighborhood eccentric for these actions.I do not plan to change.

I just returned from a short 5 days in Florida, it was 85 there when we left Sunday night. Today it snowed on me on my way to work. It may be time to banish this winter to the dust bin.

FTF is a treat, it should not be a goal. When the game turns into a competition for FTF, I think that there are some hard feelings generated, at least that has been my impression. I enjoy the winter, but I think it now time to move ahead a season.

I waded to that cache, I do not consider myself to be Amazonian, Cro Magnon or Neanderthal perhaps, but not Amazonian. I thought it was a great cache and adventure. My own feeling is that most caches should be placed with a one year life expectancy and thereafter they should be archived. But that is just my opinion. That way inventory is constantly renewed, piquing interest of the hobbyist who seeks to increas numbers and needs incentive to get out. So when are you replacing that cache, I might be up for vacation in June.

I love Cape light. I love the woods in snow. I no longer think about skiing, but there is a lot of enjoyment in Winter. Sunday, after the storm, I spent all day outside, shoveling and walking and just enjoying the sun. Thanks for the reminder.

That ain'being lazy, that is called enjoyment. Why is it that all us Type A's are so late to arrive at the conclusion that even we are allowed a little down time. Be well -- And yes my son and I still managed to shovel the snow for us and our neighbor who is ill.Put up a tree and garland and decorate.

These types of challenges can be a lot of fun, especially in a geographically limited area such as Cape Cod. I did a 14 stage grouping in my home town. I would love to try the 14 on Cape Cod, but I surely am not going to pursue a Statewide series, that would be too time consuming and would be an excess.I would certainly like to see you explore the obsessive element. Personally, I see it in some, I do not consider it healthy. Some exclude other activities for the exclusive geocaching pursuit. That can not be healthy. I saw at least one instance where it affected a personal relationship negatively, not unlike other addictive pursuits.

In response to: The Uselessness of Fasting?
Your fasting will focus your attention, it is possible to fast in other ways , other than the food way Make up your mind to forego consumer goods that you may desire and crave, but really don't need. I am in that stage of fasting.

Happy Thanks giving. For a number of years we went to Cape Cod for the weekend and I always rode my bike on the Rail Trail over the weekend.Remember there is no such thing as lousy weather, there are only lousy clothes. I make it a point to not let a year go by without having ridden in every month of the year. Novemeber is nothing compared to February, when you try and get an early season start.

In response to: Geocaching is no place for hate
I have to agree with the thread shift. I participate in geocaching and it is my experience that others I've encounterd are generally interested in furtherance of policy that is easy on the land. Not all mind you, but a significant group are avid hikers, paddlers and bikers who revel in outdoor activities and who are conscious of the competing views of others, so they go out of their way to keep things tidy.

In response to: Urban exploring: Mysteries on Main Street
Couple of comments: I have been to the guest cam, it is entertainment at low cost. I have done a few caches in Hyannis, it is a pleasant walk, the caches are however somewhat bland--most urban caches are. But the town is the attraction, as it should be. I love urban exploration. Currently I am doing a series by bicycle in NYC and it is a great deal of fun. All of which ties into getting off the couch, and getting out. I wish I had a teacher who taught urban exploration. Cities are places to be enjoyed , not feared. I love NY, Boston, Baltimore, Washinton as much as I love Cape Cod.

That would be my stomping ground while on Cape, the back area has an old bog that is barely discernable, but the hand dug irrigation channel is still there. The ancient way goes right down to the town.

Geocachers were once viewed as being half a bubble off level, then normalcy took hold, the picture proves my point, such a normal looking crowd. Oy!

Ah, the CCRT, the rail trail that all others emulate. When people around the country look to develope a linear park, it is Cape Cod they look to for guidance. I think the Chamber of Commerce would do well to sponsor the CCRT , half century or the CCRT Century, a self guided ride and sell souvenier T Shirts and Hats and all that stuff to successful finishers. Start in Dennis ride to Wellfleet and back and you have a half century. Make it into a check point type of thing, and it can be year roun

In response to: Getting in touch with nature through technology
For me, my favorite trail on Cape is the one that I seek out on every visit. It is the one that I have not been on before. And there is always one of those to keep my interest. Last visit took me to a newly designated conservation area off the bike path. The sandy treadway was comfort to feet that are used to the rocky trails of NJ. Old bogs and channels of cranberry growers from a bygone era were quiet and peaceful. PS, you have done up geocaching nicely. Pack
