good article...another classic example of consumers I mean Americans and how out of it they are. This is almost as bad as mccains people using the fact obama was born outside of the USA, when mccain was boen in panama! The one thing I heard that scares me is bush's "sprint to the finish", this country is so winded we might not be able to be carried to the finish of this administrations end.Demo, it this point in the country where "we the people" used to mean somthing, nothing should shock you, people could tell you the names of all britney and brad pitts kids, but could not even tell you who is in senate in their state.

"I spent the first thirty years of my life using energy to turn propellers. I want to spend the next twenty years seeing propellers used to create energy." what a joke, has anyone heard his planes at 500am every moring...his airline in nothing but a taxi service for the elite, "Getting an award for "doing what's right".....are you $%^&^%^$%# me! what do his planes run on, and where does the fuel he burns go! Most of those planes are like 20-30 years old, give me a break...."he actually flew his family to Denmark where similar offshore wind farms have not only been built to great success, but their presence has greatly boosted Danish tourism, ".Wow...I can see it now, lets go to the cape to see turbines! Somethings is rotten in Denmark...Mr.Wolf is full of &*&*&, I wonder what the p[ayoff was for his company!
Getting an award for "doing what's right"...the more I think of this, I do not believe i have ever seen such crap in my life reguarding this windfarm...this little man can take is family to denmark like its nothing, must be nice, while some here cannot even afford to live here. "last March Mr. Wolf stood and testified that the project will not have a negative impact on air navigation"."CPN's only local opponent, the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound, which has a former coal industry official as its current C.E.O"....Possee, this is a perfect example of what we have been saying about both sides playing the people, unreal!

Possee, they use that are of mass ave you spoke about as an example of gentrification in most major universities that study urban issues. A professor told me "the problem with mass ave was, the poor were way to close to the rich, so something had to be done". That does not help the fact many still consider Boston a racist city.McMansions are crazy, why these people want these giant houses for what two weeks of vacation? We are going back to the middle ages in the USA... Surfs, peasants and landowners....nothing has changed exept the peasants are too busy and distracted to realize what is happening.
277,000 families lost their homes in July 08...not good.Crusader, I never heard again about the boat trip....how did it go!

Dan Wolf...isnt he the one who owns all those 1970's planes that make about 4,567 runs to nantucket a day? one thing good about itis I do not need an alarm clock because I wake up every day in hyannis on that all so important 500am flight!
08/14/08 @ 6:13 pm
I am not saying you were lying but that is something they need to spend $$$$ on. Your right, people moving in to the districts can throw u a curve, the feds need to step it up with money, but we do not have it thanks to these occupations, I mean wars.
08/14/08 @ 3:58 pm
. "They also spend more that state average for classroom and specialist teachers. And they spend less than half the state average for professional development" if that is true that is not a good stat.
08/14/08 @ 3:57 pm
I is amazing(my self included) we talk about "everything but education: social agendae, finances, political correctness",it is just frustration because we care...great kids come from DY no doubt about it! my point was, parents of all social classes need to step up to the dish and contribute to OUR community, reguardless of whre u live.Peter, you have some great points like "14 special needs aids...while retaining her three new deans at a total cost of $400,000" not a lot of common sense here. Where did this woman work before she blessed us here in DY?
08/14/08 @ 6:53 am
Peter, your right, why bother with anything...are the town votes for $$$ best out of 7, or 3 out of 5?
08/14/08 @ 6:51 am
possee,
how much more of a beating can the middle class take? free education, free lunch and breakfast, free housing, and people cannot say "why have kids if u cannot afford them?" That is sooooo mean.....Dy could not even have people chip in for buses because such a high amount of the population get free food, good luck with high fuel costs.
08/13/08 @ 9:09 pm
"Woodbury is trying to do away with this and she wants as many children back in the district" to save money, that is all, do not listen to any other BS about inclusion, we have many sick kids(overmedicated, underparented, over diagnosed) in the cape who should be in other places for education, but they use the excuse "we want to include eveyone, nobody should be denied an education"...$$$$..possee, if one can take student loans out for college, why cant they take them out to help pay the towns costs....I bet behaivor straightens up when mommy and daddy have to cut back and get basic cable, drink only 3 times a week and have to split smokes and perscriptions for all their problems...
08/13/08 @ 4:14 pm
Some students require "special attention, up to and including in-patient or residential placements costing occasionaly more than $100,000 for a single student for a single year",...although that sounds like real special education, many are behaivor problems that the public schools cannot possibly service, so that is a little misleading Peter, not on your part, but this SPED label. Children from broken homes, get this SPED label, although nothing is wrong, it is the only way they can get "educated". Kids get caught with drugs, weapons, ect ect end up as part of this $$$$, the got to Otis....this is where much of the $$$$ goes...this is happening all over the USA.
08/13/08 @ 8:05 am
buck, your right, she used fear(sound familiar?)to get what she wanted. What is the point of moving people around? These principals know the children well, why move them? I think it is time for dennis to take a walk for their own good.

"this election provides a significant contrast in the direction of this country".?????? OOHH, I get it....one wants to go into Iran, the other wants to raise taxes, one wants to keep illegals, the other...wait...he wants to keep illegals as well??? One wants NCLB..the other....does as well! One changed his mind on drilling oil THAT DOES NOT EXIST...the other changed his mind as well....change is coming, yeah in our paychecks after we cash them...keep on telling yourself we have a 2 party system.
08/12/08 @ 6:12 pm
Yarmouth Taxpayer,
What exactly do you mean "Some not even able to vote"....what are you trying to say..illegals, drifters, people who sit in section 8 housing watching MTV?
08/12/08 @ 6:04 pm
What else can police in yarmouth do?
This shitheel in charged with "Operating with a Revoked License, Operating to Endanger, Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Failure to Stop at a Red Light, Resisting Arrest, and Threat to Kill".Then pulls in the ugliest section 8 dump where nothing but problems have come for the last 10 years... what the hell else are the YPD supposed to do, give me a break, these people did not give a crap when they were driving to endanger, ramming cop cars, running lights, what if a young family was walking across the street!

Possee, these morons have no idea it was the dems that were pro slavery.....Also, these dummys have not figured out the scandal with Ms. Monica was a distractor to bill "the mad bomber" clinton assault on the Serbs, and one last thing about the party of the people....Madeleine Albright's comments about the poor and suffering in Iraq:
Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it.

Also, video games are killing kids, they cannot think straight, they are used of being self absorbed in games where they are the kings, video games give kids a false felling of greatness from "beating" games! Meds are going to give this country in about 20 years millions of sick, brain dead 30 somethings who had pills forced down their throats when they where behaivor problems.
08/11/08 @ 5:25 pm
Also, video games are killing kids, they cannot think straight, they are used of being self absorbed in games where they are the kings!Meds, video games and loser parents who are doing the same as the kids are not helping...
08/11/08 @ 5:22 pm
Possee, again right on the money!
"overmedicating and undereducating kids, total lack of discipline..
protection of lousy teachers..
no basic learning skills taught..it is all intentional my friend...we are so out of it in the USA, nice pockets exist, but most schools are a joke, because the community does not give a &*&*...I ran into a Nauset freshman this summer who in a history course was assigned Guns, Germs and Steel to read for the summer...great book for that level...I bet their is not one teacher that teaches history in Dy that even knows about the book, So, some places are ahead of others.
08/11/08 @ 7:22 am
"homework" well that has become a funny word...HOME is the problem, not the work! Public schools have become social service outposts that collect food, clothes and other services for kids who have parents that simply do not parent. The lack of disipline is sick!Again, it is excuses and BS, the DY situation is real sad, these cops need help not a reduced police force.
08/11/08 @ 7:17 am
"and worst of all..no bang for the buck!"
Is exactly right! SPED is costing millions with no return on investment. It is just excuses and BS...schools now throw these SPED diagnosis on behaivor problem kids so they can baby them through, while students who need the help and may have problems are just swept under the rug.People wonder why Americans are falling behind in education, just sub one day in the mid cape and you will see, kids come to schol for no other reason but to eat.

this one is for you msandre!

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

I like the people who sit in line for hours, and then have no idea what they want.Dunkin represents to me ugly America, unprepared, selfish people, overpaying for coffee they could bre themselves for a fraction of the price.

07/06/08 @ 3:25 pm
"crimes without penalty..repeat offenders daily" "poor parenting" it is not just here, you are right."It's the residents..." plain and simple, look at the other article about 327 calls the yarmouth PD took over the holiday.People have just become so self centered, they dont give a crap, it think the issue on cc is, it is growing.
07/06/08 @ 2:28 pm
People NEED to realize that these postings are just 4 fun, they are just opinions, sometimes not exactly 100%, look at newspapers they get paid to make up stuff and everyone reads them and thinks its all true. Remember, WMD's in the NY times?
07/06/08 @ 2:24 pm
Buzz, you are right, throwing $$$ is not the answer, when I said renters and drifters, I meant that people who are not voting,or working in the community, who have children in the schools, did not even vote, and I do not care what anyone supports, a little effort never hurt anyone at all. Your right again, "The tax rate and working capital in any town on or off cape is the highest percentage it's ever been"Agreed 100%, cape is cheap on taxes, but not for much longer, they are gonna go up, factual info, what have I said theat was not true?
07/06/08 @ 2:12 pm
It is just common sense...nothing more.
This is a great place, but like all over, it has so many problems now.People need to look around...the $$$ is not around, public works, schools ect ect are gonna go belly up, look at yarmouth where they just "blame all the old people" that is such crap, 26,000 in the town 4,000 and change show up to vote, good luck with that, what were the others doing, if you are out their and live in yarmouth and did not vote, I would love to hear why not?See, that community was exposed for not being a community at all, again, renters and drifters are running the show
07/06/08 @ 1:31 pm
agree with other places looking good for vaction. When I do talk to people a common term to decribe summers here for tourists is overrated. "too pricy, spread out, and most important rude locals" who are angry cause they work 80 hours a week in the summer, and drink all winter.Property values, who has $$$ these days for a 800,000 home that is surrounded by 10 hr jobs?
07/06/08 @ 1:26 pm
crusader,
I just read that article and it does not surprise me at all.You could just tell something was not right with the case. How do these people sleep at night, CM needs some serious legal help from somebody in DC, ACLU?? Dunno???
07/06/08 @ 1:08 pm
"Lack of sustainable jobs is the main issue" 100% agreed. It is soo true about the locals, it all depends what you last name is around here...CM was set up from what I have seen, wrong woman, wrong skin color...agreed.Gentrification is the right term, but like I said, look at other who are moving here, I have never seen a place with so many drifters from all over the USA and world.I was at a liquor store and a man with Iowa plates stole something, serbian man burt alive in the hyannis woods,a russian man holding an elderly couple hostage in chatham, drug dealers from mississippi selling on the streets of hyannis, that is just to name a few, how do these people find out about this place?
07/06/08 @ 12:07 pm
"poor young mother" ????? Are you sure you got the right case, or was another person killed by her garbage man? From hingham, living on the family land???
07/06/08 @ 11:33 am
"ongoing gentrification of Cape Cod", your right on the $$$, what will this look like in 10 years?"get off my turf" is this the same JF that was friends with mcgowen? I thought it was funny that JF was a teen juice bar with mcgowen the night of the killing, in his 30's....nice.gentrification is a interesting term, but we are getting more poor people, not middle class, and less people can retire. A ghost town is more like it, look at the schools problems, I would bet 25% of the students in the mid cape own homes and pay taxes, at BEST. The more you talk to the wealthy, they are all set with th locals, how would you like to buy a home in hyannis and have some hip- hopping drug dealers slinking around your street.
07/06/08 @ 11:01 am
"don't rock the Yankees gear in Massachusetts", that does not even make sense, rock...whats that some hip hop term? People like him will be rocking clothes from the salvation army if more situations like this happen...I had met a woman from Indiana who sadi to me "I will never return to that city of Hyannis," I was robbed at a 7-11 right in downtown, that is a rough city". Nice

"Freedom from arbitrary government regulation and control,"Freedom from arbitrary search, seizure or detention of person or property" those things have been taken away by the criminal administration in DC right now. "Responsibility of all citizens to assist, uphold and insure justice, law and order" we the people have been doing a terrible job with that one! The greatest country in the world must improve, not sink any further into the 1984 type of Bush bullying. One would think a guy that stole 2 elections would be a little nicer to the people he screwed to get "elected".
07/02/08 @ 7:21 pm
posse, I think too complacently poor to care is also a problem. Like Sean Hannity said "Americas poor are in good shape". Actually, if you think about it, many cape cod residents are irrelevant and completely useless to our society. Eastern Europeans and other people from all over the world are working in places poor should be working....the mid cape has as many social problems as any inner city, section 8, having too many kids, bringing mega problems to our school systems, ect ect ect. You are right about the capitalist inheritied elite(lets face it, very few with wealth actually came from nothing), they could not care less, only when we carry their bags at CC national golf course, or serve them some food at and they hope we mess up, so they can vent their power at us! I wonder if people in France in about 1788 were talking like this about the "elite" buying 500, 000 paintings while 90% of the country was starving.

Hey... give Christy credit..... he sunk that union killer, Healy, who said she would love to have dinner with Mr. Margaret Thatcher.... yuck! I did not vote for her because of that, among other things. Also, he had the quote of the election “intentional indifference” describing Healy’s lack of action when it came to the disaster that was the bid dig.So much corruption her and Willard just turned their heads and knew all about it.

Lets say goodbye to the Cape Cod Commission, we cannot have other people who do not live in Yarmouth decide our fate.It is just more political hacks who do not live in the real world, and WE THE PEOPLE of Yarmouth can operate on our own. People must realize we cannot wait any longer, we must develop this town into something the will attract business and this is the first place to start. Peter, keep up the good work... I’m guessing your Irish, we are always guilty of not being politically correct, and telling it like it is!

In response to: A Nation at Risk: 25 Years Later
I agree with the comments about family, because that is the most important part of education.
Parents do not want to PARENT anymore, video games and medications are forming personalities. These kids cannot focus at all, because the reading is boring compared to the little virtual world they live in! Also, these schools on CC have their hands full of undisciplined kids who need all sorts or services, get in trouble, and cost the taxpayers big money! Free lunch, free counseling, social problems, ect ect, Until we got over this phenomenon of having kids with no way to pay for them, we are in trouble as a nation!
