Doesn't this mean that Teddy is resigning so he can officially move to Florida before he dies and avoid Massachusetts estate tax? Why would he resign now? The goodness of his heart? Concern about 2 votes? He didn't call on Kerry to resign when he ran for president, and Kerry missed about the same number of votes as Teddy. Wake up . . . it is about Teddy trying to avoid taxes. Taxes are good for us po folks, but not for the Kennedys.

In response to: Kerry spokeswoman says he plans to stay in Senate
if she is saying no - it must mean Obama told him "thanks but no thanks" on Sec State

local - Anastasia has experience - years as a private sector attorney and years as Assistant Register - combined makes her the most qualified. The quote also says "No Party politics in the Register's Office" - and she is right on that too.

peter - go to their websites, which tell you all about the job. I think the liberal opponent is Eric Turkington, if you read the PDF attached to this posting. I think that's why you should care.

In response to: If it walks like a duck .....
You need to talk to someone outside your friends. Talk to some non-partisan people who don't work in the courts. If we don't elect Anastasia, Turkington will walk into this office, because only Priscilla supporters are willing to buy the "you don't need to be a lawyer" thing. I love this though Krista - you make it sound like it SHOULDN'T be a lawyer - now you're just drinking Priscilla's kool aid . . . Anastasia can beat Turkington and that is most important!!

local - you're splitting hairs. Shows how little Priscilla has talked about anything other than this silly issue.

if your top issue in this race is whether 6 years ago the register appointed a relative - you are out of your mind. This is the first time in 40 years we can get new blood running this office and our choices are: The person who worked for the old register for 27 years or someone who has enough internal experience to know how to fix the office and enough private sector experience to effect real change and improvements to the office. This is a no-brainer and you are getting lost on this 6 year old issue because Priscilla has nothing to tell you about the TWENTY SEVEN years she worked in the office. If I worked in a company for 27 years and could not tell you one single improvement I made, I would try to get people to focus on ridiculous, 6 year old topics too. Don't buy the smoke and mirrors - after 27 years - not one example of an efficiency or an improvement. Would you accept that for any other position? I hope not. Vote for Anastasia - she is a sweetheart and has enough tenacity to get the job done right.

i was surprised to see Troy endorsed a Democrat in the same column - Mary Pat no less . . . yes he is a Republican but I always respect him for having thoughtful insight. He is not always right, but with Perrino and Mary Pat, he is right on both counts. Both of these women are just better for the job.

In response to: Ted's back behind the helm...
I saw the photos and thought - boy it's good to see Ted up and about and then I saw Ned's comments and thought - it must be tough going through life with such a warped view of the world. But he started with "I love Ted" so that makes the drivel ok. What a dope.

In response to: Inmate Trash Pick-up Program is Dangerous
Noone wants this kind of thing to happen and it is too bad. But it shouldn't create a referendum on inmate trash pick up. The trash has to be cleaned up - putting someone in danger. Should it be high school kids who are trying to make minimum wage or should it be a convicted criminal trying to work off his debt to society or a state worker getting 60K/year to be a beautification engineer. I pick inmate every time.
