Poor small minded cru, continuing your rantings to ruin another thread with contributions from non-vile posters.

Go to your own blog and post something. See if anyone cares what you think. Sit there and see if anyone posts. They won't. You have nothing valuable to say or post and nobody cares. You are a miserable individual who has created her owmn nightmare. Instead of posting on your own blog spot here at CCT, you will reply to this thinking I care.

I don't.

I have many many things to do today, none of which involve you and your rants. I am simply posting here because you have decided to include me in one of you posts last night.

Go away and find somewhere else to destroy. Maybe the East Somerville Streets sight. Just leave this one alone. You do nothing but bring it down. It was quite nice last week without your negativity. Now it's back to a cesspool of your postings.

Why does CCT let you continue to destroy other peoples blogs?

Problem over there was that the topics never ended. Someone (to remanin un-named) would continue their rant long after the news was old news, continuous endless ranting. The cold actually can play a factor in it. Overall, it should have been an ongoing process like they do with much larger bridges like the Golden Gate.

Why would the town plow a private road anyway? The towns taxes should pay for what is public and what the voters have approved to accept and care for. Every developer that comes to town gets to have their road plowed free? And made of dirt? That would kill a plow truck. And of course, when the plow tears the road up, the town then also goes in to fix it? Thats crazy.

I just happened to read the article regarding this issue in the CCT tonight and I find it interesting that a big fact was omitted from this story here. The proponents aren't asking for the entire Punkhorn to be opened, just 1/3 of it, 230 acres, that and another area of 80 acres eleswhere. Present all the facts for a fair conversation.
10/06/09 @ 1:09 pm
The real losers in the Blasch house issue are the citizens of Wellfleet. They got screwed twice due to Dale Donovan and his back room antics over the issue. First the town had to defend, by their own town counsel, the zoning board and then they had to do the dirty work of the Nat. Seashore using again, thier own town counsel. So they sued themselves and lost, all at the taxpayers cost.

The house looks beautiful BTW.

In response to: Punkhorn hunting: Too close for comfort
And the consequences of areas with overpopulated deer herds is serious too. Fact is, hunters in this state have a very small amount of time to hunt. Most people hunt Saturdays due to the fact that Sunday is no hunting and then people work during the week. That leaves 6 Saturdays if the weather is decent meaning not too windy, no rain and nothing else important to do. Then, primitive allows for two more Saturdays. Is that really too much to ask out of the 52 weeks a year? I think once people actually take part in a hunting outing, they never really will understand how tough it is to actually bag something. I didn't take a shot for the first 3 years in the woods, gun OR arrow! Non hunters make it out like there is a war going on during hunting season and it's just not true.

In response to: Punkhorn hunting: Too close for comfort
Your ignorance of the facts surrounding this proposal is clear. Archery hunting is done in close quarters and often usually right before and at sunrise and then again at sundown with very little in between. Primitive season is in the dead of winter and there probably aren't that many on the trails either. Deaths and injuries related to hunting are few on cape and comparative proof of that is the track record in the Nat. Seashore. Call for info. The Seashore has trails all throughout and there are no incedents. Compared to bike accidents in the seashore, hunting is far safer. Keep in mind, hunting is a way to control the herd too. Too many and they starve after they have completely devistated the greenery. Ask the state about the Quabbin Res. problems for info on that. It's alway interesting when a place has hunters, the hikers always ask to be allowed more room to roam. But if the hikers are there first, hunters are not allowed. The woods are for everyone. Hiking is yearround and hunting is a very short period. Learn to share.

I think people can use government assistance as mentioned, to get them going, to help in dire need but not to abuse "the system" as we constantly see with welfare, child services, small business admin. and other agencies that never let people go. the welfare system was designed to help those that can not help themselves but it seems far too many people these days use it as their lifelong crutch.

Keep in mind jane logan that the bridges create a pinchpoint that allow only so many over the bridge at a time. What I mean is some people just avoid the cape due to the traffic and congestion. Build another bridge and they will come. Then you'll REALLY see traffic and congestion on the cape along with a strain on the infrastructure that is already strained like water and sewer treatment, waste collection and disposal, electric transmission and such. Increase the ability for people to travel to the cape and they will. Is that a good thing really?

In response to: Is our democracy in its final days?
What I have found in my dealings with the democrats in my life is the idea that big government should be bigger because the "troubles" and problems of society are much larger than anything mere mortals can handle. Let the government take care of it is what I hear more and more. That saddens me in that these people are just becoming the sheep that big Democrat government wants. Less and less are those that strike out on their own to do something for themselves, on their own, independantly without government intervention. More and more I'm seeing everything going by the way of government asstance like the small business administration and other small government run agencies. Sometimes, they are needed to get a start but too often, these agencies are used to continue the dream. Let big government take care of it and you WILL get the government you deserve.

In response to: HOUSE REPUBLICANS QUESTION CONSTITUTIONALITY
I will strongly recommend to Richard to review the underlying issue here with the MA Dem senators. While Kerry was off running for president and thus missing the majority of senate votes, Kennedy didn't cry out to have help representing the state. Now that we have Kerry standing alone, he is crying out that he needs help. Why? Because he is lame and always has been and Kirk will be too. So instead of someone ELECTED by the people FOR the people, we will have two lame senators representing this state for the next 4 months. There truly is no emergency to have the senate seat replaced. Remember, in the past year, a time when Kennedys "lifes work" was being discussed, he missed over 90% of the votes in the senate. Where was the cry for representation then? Where was Kerry then? Why didn't Kennedy resign then? No pun intented, but, Kennedy dug his own grave on this issue. The next four months would be a great time to re-evaluate the health care issues and get it right as opposed to have it shoved down everyones throats. Then real representation can vote, not a lame puppet.

This is all Teds fault anyway. He should have bowed out in a classy way, not like this, a self centered hypocite.
Once he was diagnosed with brain cancer, something we all knew he was going to die from, he should have submitted his resignation effective immediatley after an election for a new senator. He could have continued his efforts while stumping for the new replacement he would back. After loads of support, the candidate probably would have won, Kennedy could have continued in the shadows as a puppet master and his bill would have continued and even better, his candidate would have that much more experience when the term was up and would run for the new term.

But noooooo.

Self centered Ted, obviously thinking once again he was immortal, decides to ignore the grim reality, continue to decline and NOT represent the sate for the past how many months and then cry out that the state needs to change the law back from what he had it changed to 5 years ago bacuse we need representation! And let this boob of a governor do the appointing? What a sham and a shame.

when a cop relayed to me that "even a dog doesn't mess where he sleeps" and was later explained that you don't cause trouble with trouble where you live, it drives me to believe the cops don't WANT to get involved. That, mixed with the general inexperience of the cops on cape in relation to the new drug crimes leads me to believe the cops are being outdone.

kaos5627,
You've seen it happen quite a bit? More than once? I guess all your friends are saints but then, for some "UNKNOWN" reason just took up gangbanging and drugs, right? It's because they are LOSERS and should be in jail where they belong. Maybe next time you see on eof your friends going down the wrong path, maybe you should help them instaed of letting them "fall victim".

And to expand on welcomes comments, the violence continues because the cops don't have the experience nor the desire to absolutely STOMP these thugs.

And kaos5627, save us the crap about this "nice kid going down the wrong path". Nobody gets involved with a murder first time hanging out with a particular friend. He's just as guilty. If he is a "good kid", he'll be cooperating fully with authorities so the bums that took him down will be dealt with correctly to right his reputation.

Bottom line is Ted has never paid the price for what he has done. Imagine your own relative dying in this way and nobody ever brought to justice. And Mary, do us all a favor. Save it. I don't want to hear about how much guilt he's carried. I don't care. Every killer in prison, from first degree to involuntary manslaughter would love a chance at freedom if the promise to carry guilt. regardless of what he has or will accomplish, I will always consider him a killer.

She has made decisions and comments based on race based on her bias toward the issues. I will allow that yes, she is human and in reality does have bias one way or another. We all do. But do you want someone that has come out and has openly displayed these bias' to be appointed a Supreme court judge? If I came out with a racial joke or made comments related to race that weren't particularly fair to one race or another, would anyone just accept it and move forward, figuring its in the past and nothing should come of it? That my comments weren't really what I was all about and that I would never disregard one race over another, even though I had made the jokes or comments without realizing later in life I may go on to something bigger and better where my comments could effect my position? She's not the only person out there that can be a judge and right now, she's just a nominee. I say widen the search and find someone else. She may not be perfect, but there are others out there that are closer to perfect than she.

And if all they did was mow down the vegitation, nobody would be bothered at this poit since they have already begun that phase. But the herbicide gets into the water table under these private properties that Nstar has a right OVER, not under, and if the homes water is contaminated, what then? Legal battles will be drawn out by Nstar and the homeowner loses. And if one property is contaminated, others that DON'T have easments on them will be contaminated also for sure. What right does Nstar have then? And don't tell me how ecologiclly freindly the herbicide is. If you can't drink it raw, it's not friendly.

Nstar just doesn't care, simple as that. They plowed through private property a couple years ago in Orleans, demolishing anything in their ROWs even if on private property. Mechanical control means they spend their money. Herbicide spraying means you spend yours to cure what they have done on the cheap.

They promote the very worst things that we all try to teach our own kids not to do. Try hard, don't cheat and my the best team win are the words to go by. As far as the aborted resignation goes, although I don't know if it was intentional or not but the resignation is effective as of May 19th and up until then, Wilkins is a selectman and has until then to file with the clerk. Basically, he notified the others about his intention by submitting to the other selectmen his resignation but in the eyes of the state laws, it's not official until its been recorded with the clerk and having not done that, it can become a dead issue if he doesn't follow through. At this point, he seems to be having second thoughts and since he didn't record it with the clerk, it doesn't matter what his intentions were, he never finalized them so he can remain a selectman if he chooses or he can still go to the clerk to submit his resignation. Conspiracy? I doubt it. What were the reasons originally for him to resign?

The first thing we have to do is understand why they are attacking us. We need to develop better ways to use their home areas so we don't aggrivate them any further. We have intruded upon their home waters while we pillage their coastlines for oil and riches set aside for only the highest of the wealthy. These people need to be understood and once understood and calmed, we need to change our menatlity and aggression toward them. They need to be included in the dialogue amost our NATO allies and be included instead of excluded and must be given a voice. Only then will this payback end and the world will be a much more friendly place.

Charlie, its the biggest NIMBY issue alive today. The commission doesn't want it because Kennedy and Kerry don't want it and they don't want it because it's directly in their backyards. Far beyond the issue of cape wind, the CCC is THE number one institution that is keeping us Cape Bakward and so far backward it's laughable. When speaking with a member of the commission lately, I asked if its still interesting. He said yes but truely understands why the commission is looked down upon so much and so harshly. It's all BS and chest thumping with very little fact, just opinion. The people appointing these members, whether it be the state appointing their rep or the boards of selectmen appointing the local reps, they need to look closely at what they want from this person, to be cape forward or backward. The commission is made up of appointed people and it boils down to the appointing authorities IMO.

He did it last time and he's doing it again now. Rethink strategy Christy. It didn't work before and it won't now. *8000 layoffs, no matter where they come from, private or public sector, is a lot of people to put on the bread line and now people are all feeling what its like. Bitter, I have no problem with pot used as a pain reliever. Just use it in the hospital or in a doctors office, thats all. Allowing people to take it home and use it responsibly and when "needed" seems to be the problem. Booze is a similar remedy, takes the edge off on a hard/bad day. How many drunks are driving around? How much crime is booze related to or influenced? How many "responsible" adults give booze to kids because it's "no big deal"? Pot will go the same way if left in the hands of the "responsible" ones.

I love all the time these pot heads waste on trying ot convince everyone pot is ok or good for you and the economy. What a waste of time. Put your enerygy to something useful and vote for the pot laws the cape police chiefs are asking for. It allows towns to collect the fines and allows citizens to be cited under the towns bylaw as opposed to state law, which will probably show up in a record of some sort and come to haunt you later in life. Alos, if under 18, you won't need to go to drug awareness classes if you are cited under the towns bylaws. The fine is higher than the states but it's less imposing. Be smart and vote these new bylaws in.

You have no real concept of how absolutely insignificant you or I or maverick or anyone really is, do you. The world has been around for 4.5 BILLION years. Humans have existed for what, 1, maybe 2, million years and have been industrialized for about 150 years at very best. You really think the world is going to "run out" of resources? You really think that the last 150 years are going to be the downfall of the most mysterious and amazingly complex and unique item in the entire galaxy as far as we have seen so far, otherwise known as Earth? Save your plastic bottles and recycle your paper and don't forget to use one square of TP like Sheryl Crow says but also, at the same time, remember that a forest fire is offsetting all the efforts made today by big business to clear the air of pollution and a volcanoe erupting offsets evrything done for the past year. Also, remember the lack of recycling in places like China and India that offset everything you try to do. You'll go crazy trying to win. Just enjoy your blink of existence in the life of the planet.

First off, STFU.

That being said, don't claim that I'm trying to exploit someone in here. I find no advantage nor gain to myself or anyone else but this girl and her family should they go to the police. She wants to know why the police aren't speaking out and the papers aren't reporting additional reports of misconduct. Well, here she explains why. But yet she wants something done. My answer is do it yourself. Speak out. Don't depend on others to do it for you. Of course, none of this would have happened if it was done the "right" way. This guy would be more than afraid to show his face again if it were taken care of the "right" way. But that didn't happen so now it has to dealt with the fair and legal way and this is what you get.
03/15/09 @ 9:07 pm
You're protecting your daughter and are staying anonymous on the matter for her sake? Then how do you dare comment that other complaints haven't been exposed in the papers? You won't even expose them to the world so why would the papers. YOU are the problem. Too sacred of what will happen and how much your family has already been through. If you want justice, you have to go all the way. Nail the guy or forever you will be chasing him and the more he gets away with, the stronger he gets and the smarter he gets to the point that others won't ever be able to touch him. It's also interesting that you protect your anonymity but are more than willing to out his mother and other realtives that didn't do anything wrong. Focus on the issue and not the fluff.
03/15/09 @ 8:11 pm
If you're the mother of a girl that was stalked by this guy and you are asking why the other claims against this guy aren't printed in the paper, why are you in here under an anonymous name? If my daughter was stalked, I would make my complaint to the cops and if nothing was done, I would cetainly speak out here and let the world know there are other victims. Change your moniker and tell the world yours and your daughters story. Otherwise, you're no better than the others that are keeping it to themselves.

How long have we been hearing all this BS about the glaciers melting and the sea rising? And how high has it risen? Have any waterfront homes been engulfed by rising waters? Any bridges now under water? If the sea is rising, why hasn't the scientific world and the USGS changed the average sea levels in the last few years?

One simple answer, its all a hoax. Keep this in mind too. Below the arctic icecaps, the ones that are meling due to the global warming myth, lies vast, hugely vast amounts of natural gas and oil. Where does oil and gas come from? Ancient buried archeological swamps. Swamps you say? Under the arctic circle? How could that be? Its cold there, isn't it? The same way its cold in Vermont for mosty of the year and they have fossil beds of warmwater sea life in the state. But how? How can this be? Hmmmm.

"Poor people should never heat their homes with low cost energy oil if it comes from a dictator in a third world hellhole delivered by a rich philanthropist whose Democratic uncle negligently killed a young woman some 30 years ago -even if it means freezing to death." Those are your words, not mine. Would it be acceptable for someone to buy stolen items out of the back of a truck even though they know the items are stolen and the criminal is a thug? Is this ok if they're poor? How about buying a knockoff watch or handbag that you know is an illegal knockoff. Its cheaper and I'm poor. Is that ok? Or should getting up and working somewhere, regardless of where, and earn some money to buy the things you need, not want, legally and cleanly be instilled into the minds of these "poor" you speak of? Like the welfare system, I'm sure "Joe for oil" is being scammed on and most of those that get the help aren't needy at all, just taking the easy way.

Clintons, modest wealth. Thats funny. And Kerry, the war hero, is not rich, his wife is right? And the honest working Kennedys, especially Joe who goes out and takes oil from the evil empire of Chavez. Joe is just a perfect example of what I'm talking about in terms of getting the needy on your side. Once they are on your side, they overlook the issues surrounding what you have done to give them what they want. Even though Ted Kennedy killed a woman in his car and never paid the price like the rest of the world would, and even though Jack was a filanderer as was brother Bobby, and even though Joe gets his oil from a dictator of a 3rd world hellhole which oppresses its people, and even though Patrick Kennedy is a drug/booze addict, people love them because they have given them what they want, cheap oil and free welfare paid for by the hard work of conservatives. Keep trying Dick. You haven't swayed me.

Funny how you use the term oligarchy. Do you mean the likes of the Clintons, the Kennedys, the Kerry/Heinzs? And the ones that are losing their savings and jobs in corporate America, that's exactly where the left wants the plebes, needing from them in an economic hard time so they, the lefties, can give them support, like heroin, in the form of welfare and "programs" that they can't get off of. Then, when its time for elections, the welfare rolls MUST vote for the lefties or their entitlements will be taken away by the conservatives. Is THAT the oligarchy you speak of? And if you don't like what Limbaugh is saying, change the channel. I'm sure NPR would love to drive you insane with their foreign reporters telling you of the unjusts happening in Madagascar or Peru. Or, as others have mentioned, start up Air America again and retrieve all seven of those listeners, contributing nothing to suport it. Seems these days, the lefties are the ones with the tax problems, no? Geitner, Rangle, Franken, Kirk, Daschle. Honest mistakes I'm sure but hey, let corporate pay for it, right? they got it

I'll agree with you there, the Turnpike Authority is a mess and is what got us into this huge debt on the big dig to start with. But again, to "cut" those jobs right away, it's not their fault they have those jobs, its somebody else that opened the positions and somebody that hired them. They are in so as I mentioned, legislate no new Turnpike hires and when it becomes to weak, merge with Mass Highwasy. As far as the tolls, again, work them in from the western tolls and eventually do away with them after the attrition rate has crippled the system. I continue to find Patricks hires disgusting and even more so in that they have a no show job. What proves their worth in PR or HR? While we here on cape discuss regionalization, the state house is compartmentalizing. Makes no sense.

I agree that its way out of line for Patrick to have hired 2000 since he was elected. Absolutely disgusting But to cut 8,000 people from their jobs is quite a shock to the system, no?
If you were to be elected, where are the over bloated areas that YOU would like to see trimmed? Reduction in the state police, the registry, court system, education. Where would the cuts come from? To just say 8,000 across the board is scary to some, me included. Some of those cuts may be needed services. Not saying they can't be combined with other existing jobs and positions but all those jobs gone without specifics as to where would push me to be careful and not vote for you.
Show me where and I can be swayed.

You don't go in and FIRE 8,000 people. You just don't do that to people that might rely on that as a sole source income for a family. Over time, don't rehire for open or vacated positions. Absorb them into other positions and hire people base on what they know, not who they know. Orleans court just went through that mess. most unfair practice anywhere is to hire who you knwow as opposed to what they know. That alone is why the MA government has gone in the tubes. How can anyone fire a friend after hirijng that person only because they were a friend. Firing on the spot, especially in hard economic times like these is the wrong way to fix things. But hey, why does Christy care? He's rich and doesn't need to get out of bed to make his money unlike the rest of us. Yes yes, you worked hard to get what you have. I know. So let the rest of us do it too and don't forget where you came from.

In response to: Your town government at work, NOT!
Glad to see some of you are actually aware of who is really in charge.

The problem is that too many of the elected individuals in town government don't do their JOBS. They like to commend others for a job well done and like to be informed of everyones work but they can't/won't make the hard decisions to hit the unions and other workers hard and be fiscally responsible. This does mean at times, layoffs and cuts that will effect services. They all want to be buddies with everyone knowing eventually they have to go back to private life and then be the "bad guy" that laid someone off or eliminated a program. Can't do the job, don't take the position.

As far as the voters go, if you see someone not doing what they should be doing to be fiscally responsible, make sure NOT to vote them in. And at Town Meeting and at the ballot box, don't vote for overrides that you don't believe in or don't think enough was done and that FORCES the boards to do their jobs. Don't let them walk all over us.

Hey bogman,
was it I that s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d it out or was it the chief in his original letter where he repeats himself? So do you have any answers to the points I made or are you just posting to continue our knowledge of you being a fool?
01/31/09 @ 8:25 pm
-No one has ever filed a complaint in this incident.
Patrol Officer Van Ness has never been the subject of any discipline.-

-Patrol Officer Van Ness is an outstanding police officer and has never had any official complaint filed against him. He has had no disciplinary history or actions during his employment with the Yarmouth Police Department.-

It's always fun to read "cop". Read between the lines.

1. Nobody has filed a complaint. That doesn't mean nobody has complained, they just haven't done it in an official manner.
2. Has never been the subject of dicipline. Not even a talking to or a reminder to cool it? Not even in the Martins case? Really chief?
3. Again, no official complaints against him. Have there been any verbal complaints?
4. No discipline while a Yarmouth police officer. Was he an officer somewhere else before Yarmouth? If not, why not describe it as never in his career?

I'm just suspicious the wording of this letter.
01/31/09 @ 8:15 pm
Seems to me that a lot of people are sick of hearing or reading the terms "gun", "suspect" and "Van Ness" all too often in the last 6 months. Another trick with the bettas; put a small mirror against the tank. Instead of needing a second fish to excite the first one so they show their colors, the reflection does the same effect and then you simply take the mirror away to relax the fish.

And everything you site above points to the parents getting involved with their children and guiding them though youth. 1 parent or 9 parents isn't the answer. Its the time that these parents devote to their children. I know personally of single parent housholds, the result of a divorce, that allows the mother, doing well on child support and alimony, to be with her kids quite a bit and guide them along and the kids are smart and well rounded socially. On the other hand, even families with two parents that don't devote time to guiding these kids will end up with failures, regardless of wealth or location.

You are so ignorant it hurts. Keep defending your former pupils that, whitout doubt, you did a diservice to by defending their way of life as status quo. The story points out that kids need more attention and leadership in their lives and two parents are ALWAYS better than one and in the majority of the black majority communities today, single parent families are prevelant and have been linked to social problems, the least of which are low SAT scores. Wake up and be a part of the solution.

Yes, excessive speed probably was a main contributor to the crash, yes, drivers are supposed to have a CDL license, class A, to drive one of these types of vehicle combinations (truck & trailer) but where would I look to see what the reason for the jacknife was? They're generally caused by excessive forward momentum that the front braking vehicle can't control alone, meaning the trailer brakes probably aren't adjusted right on the trailer so the trailer brakes also help to stop the vehicle. If the police do their due diligence, they will check the trailer brakes. I doubt it though.

Wear colors like bright orange, red, purple and yellow. Don't be afraid to make noise either so long as you aren't harrassing a hunter (its illegal to do so). Hunters are also required to be 500 feet from any buildings and 150 feet from paved roadways. Also, Monday is Dec. 01, not Nov 30 and yes, it only lasts for 1 week, not even, ending on Saturday, 30 minutes past sunset which is around 4:40 pm. Be safe.

This is crap. What will this accomplish? More commissions. Cape cod commission for blacks, jews, Brazillians, handicapped, elderly, Gay lesbian, bisexual and transgenders, low income, Indians, etc. Didn't they get the hint when the original CCC didn't/doesn't work to the advantage of the cape?

The Russian mob did it. Of course. Who coulda thunk it? Wouldn't it be a great laugh if in a few months we all realize that we've been had? One transaction went to St. Petersburg? Are they SURE it wasn't Florida? If I ever told my boss this is where the missing money went, do any of you thinkl he'd believe me? Russian mob, gimme a break.

Makes sense to me. Stop trying to be greedy and you will sell your house. The title of the article says it all. Come down on the price and the sale will happen.

In response to: Cape Cod’s happy hunting ground?
New Hampshire chic? Get over it, its done for safety sake. Is it that hard to put on something orange for a couple of weeks while walking in the woods? The hunters are out there for a couple of weeks and the other 50 are for the hikers. What happened to sharing the environment? Only if it fits in with our sensitive society? Please. Hunters contribute to and do more for the environment and the animals in one year than any animal welfare group or animal rights group will ever do. When the facts are all laid out, the anti hnters don't have a chance in their arguments.

My karma is just fine too, thank you. get a blog? Is that what you equate to a job? You really are a bum! Talk about bad karma! You live off the welfare dime while the rest of us actually produce something and make something of our existance and you think you have good karma? There is a special level of Dante's inferno waiting for you sweetie.

I say we pay the restitution for what the land was worth back when the town took it away. What was land worth back then $20/acre? I say give it to them with the agreement they may never return to nor purchase any land in the town ever again, banishment. It's time to talk really tough to these idiot to make them go away. This is only the tip of the iceberg and with the liberal bleeding heart judges today, don't ever think they won't fall for the idea these indians are putting forward.

Considering the comparison between the town in regards of their land within the Seashore boundaries and then the possiblity of excess spending due to permitting issues within the seashore, perhaps a comparison to Truro or Provincetowns legal budgets would be a better comparison considering Ptown, Truro and Wellfleet are all about the same in terms of land within the seashore. Ptowns legal team is Koppleman & Paige also. I can see where this is going but to be fair, a comparison of apple to apples would be fair. No doubt, Wellfleet, led by the nose by Donavan, will be found to have spent excessive amounts on these seashore permitting issues. Those bills pertaining to the permitting process can be obtained through FOIA easily from Wellfleet.

As predicted, the sympathy for Manso continues. None of us are perfect and this allows us to admit just that. If this were in place before Manso was busted, all would be fine. But this will go to bolster his claim that he just didn't know, as many don't. Good work.

In response to: Let's Privatize Public Libraries
Libraries are outdated. Everything comes from the internet for education and intelligence. For reading books, join a club for insight and recommendations. Why we have town libraries anymore is beyond me. Storytime for kids? Get a group together at the community center. Does anyone really use a library for the use they were initially intended for or aren't they really just a smaller version of a community center? not relly for books but for inteaction amongst people.

They moved a manatee in a van? Why not let him acclimate to the change in water temps by transporting him south in a boat that has water circulating around the animal as they travel? Once they get to warmer water and the enimals temp rises so its not in danger anymore, set it free! No, now they have a dead pile of blubber to hide. IFAW Idiots F----ing All Wildlife

In response to: Truro kids design their town playground
If you would pay attention at your town meeting, you would know the CPC funds go to four particular areas; open space, affordable housing, historic preservation and, IF TOWN MEETING APPROVES, to recreation purposes. 10% goes to each of the first three automaticly and the remaining 70% can be divided amongst the four areas depending on what the town decides. Police oversight committees and full time fire departments aren't in the equation. If those are things you want, say something at town meeting or go to the selectmen and suggest it. CPC funds are limited in their areas where they can be spent. But you knew that already ...

In response to: Truro kids design their town playground
Capecod nurse, you are perhaps the only one in Truro that is against this. What a wet napkin! Where should the CPC money have gone? More affordable housing funds that won't ever be built due to the fact that they don't have anywhere to build an affordable home? How about historic preservation? Oh, that was ok when they gave the money to Castle Hill for renovations to a privately owned structure. How about open space? Or do you think 75% of the town in open space as the national seashore is not enough or perhaps $2 million was a great idea when the town bought Poors Hill? What better way to spend community funds than on a community playground. Truro is the only town on the cape without a playground. 3% of your tax bill goes to the CPC funds which funded this project. Find something else to do with your money like ideas on what to do with next years funds. Be a part of the solution, not the problem.

In response to: A letter to the people of Plymouth UK
Maverick, be careful what you wish for. They don't have to buy back anything if they don't have to. They can just take it. Tribes in NY are doing this at this very moment. The national seashore on the lower cape is possibly an area the wamps can lay claim too also as tribal lands. Its a kind of reperations idea. In theory, they can take your land too. It probably won't happen but possibly could. Tribal recognition has very far reaching allowances.

In response to: Are you violating state gun laws?
I'm checking my gun status as right now. Who knows what could happen. What about a fire in a home with guns that aren't allowed anymore yet nobody knew? What about a misconception of guns by a neighbor who calls and reports their findings and all hell breaks loose? With the laws being so strong against a person, one would think the law would require better levels of management to make sure all those with guns comply. I know, ignorance of the law is no excuse but hey, who looks daily to see if laws are changed for things pertaining to their lives?

In response to: Peter Manso's paper trial
My point is he never should have involved himself at all, Nickerson. He made a decision and THEN recuses? Who's the fool?

As far as the LTC reminder, even if it isn't the responsibility of the issuing authority to remind people of the renewal date for their permit, (and I don't know that it is or isn't), if they have issued a LTC to someone, it means that person probably has a weapon of some sort. Wouldn't it be wise to remind the permit holder not only of the fact that their license is about to expire but if it does, they would have to relinquish their investment, that being their firearm? The police have a list of people they have issued permits to so wouldn't it be proper for them to inform the holders of their position, especially in a small town like Truro?

How is it that Nickerson allows Manso out on personal recog., essentially setting him free (which I think he will be anyway) and THEN recuses himself from the trial? How F'ed up is that? He's already made decisions in the case having set him free. What gives?

When is someone going to hound Okeefe at every interview he does and every press release he does in person to answer to his own issues with guns? This guy has no permit, has therefore illegal possesion of a HANDGUN and that same gun has no serial numbers on it making it untracable. ANYONE ELSE IN THAT POSITION WOULD BE IN JAIL RIGHT NOW AWAITING TRIAL. But not Okeefe, he gets to prosecute others for similar but lesser crimes? gimmes a break!
