In response to: Cape Wind Electricity Costs Clarified
How was it taken out of context? While Nstar rates for the past yr or so are at the 12.7/kWh for residential consumers the commercial rate is 7.906 kwh. And given that both natural gas and oil are trading at prices less then the 2005-2007 time period in the DEIS, rates should follow suit. Not the top of the market prices we see while oil traded to a high of $147 dollars a barrel vs the $46.5 a barrel today.

Quote from the DEIS comparing Horseshoe shoal vs other offshore alternatives "The proposed site at Horseshoe shoal has the lowest estimated cost of energy, equal to $0.122/KWhr, or $122/MWhr, while NONE of the sites appear to be PROFITABLE at today's electricity prices. The average locational marginal price for southeast Mass, reported by ISO New England, Inc for the real-time market, was $65.97/MWhr over the 2 years period from Feb. 2005 thru Jan 2007. For Jan 2007 the average price was 58.77/MWhr."
Even the DEIS said the cost of this electricity will be about 2 times the going rate. Chuck you don't agree with the DEIS??? What price will cape wind be producing their electricity at???

I believe it's GR before EED. That's what Capewind is about. They would build a coal plant if they could get the permits, it's all about profit to them.

sounds like more than just a few experts funded by big oil are in agreement that global warming is a farce.

What Chief Mason was trying to point out was the dangers of any drug. He reminded this reporter that not one person is incarcerated in Massachusetts for having small amounts of marijuana.

Then why the problem with the law change, sounds like that's what they are doing anyway?
However that was not my point, my point was the alcohol is legal and more deadly then pot, so why is alcohol legal and pot illegal? Make it legal and tax it, then the police can use the money for real crimes.

I agree Ned, Most these hypocritical people go home and have an alcoholic beverage, which is far more dangerous then Pot. If they lock you up for smoking pot, then they should look you up for drinking alcohol. No justification for one being legal over the other. Vote yes on Question # 1.

Neil, I agree about the Global warming alarmist. No one can prove that this is not the natural cooling and warming of the Earth. Regardless, Capewind in not about global warming, Capewind is about Profit for a private developer, while stealing a public resource. It is very simple! Capewind can talk till their blue in the face about how environmental friendly their company is, But it is just a energy company marketing their product like any other for profit business. They will say whatever will help them generate Profit, and the only thing that matters is Greed.

In response to: Coast Guard plans wind farm radar study
It's about time the safety of the turbines on Horseshoe shoals is investigated. Putting these towers on Horseshoe shoals is a major safety hazard to marine interest, both commercially and recreationally. On foggy days the turbines will be a mariner's nightmare. It will put both recreation traffic and commercial traffic in the shipping lanes. When the towers are not there the recreational and smaller commercial traffic will travel thru the area proposed for the windfarm, but with all those turbines there on foggy days captains will steer clear of the windfarm and choose to travel in the shipping channels with the larger vessels. Disaster waiting to happen!
