Ms Piggie.
Police officers have a lot of discretion in regards to effecting an arrest or not. If someone were to show an officer that they have some need (i.e. medical)for the cannibis, I think
you'll find most officers will allow that person to continue on their way without interuption. I'm sure you wont believe it, but believe me- it has happened, and more that you know.

This is totally inapplicable
in Massachusetts and can't be applied here.

Wrong you are, Ms. Piggie...
It is applicable here, and I have applied it. Many times, I might add, as my family delt with cancer AND glaucoma, and had doctors scripts that allowed it's use.
Try again.

You're right piggie...it is funny! I'll bet you blew pot smoke in your dogs face when you get high, too! Does your mommy know your on her computer?

I did Bitter, and I see one in philly, and another in Houston (as reported by the Enquirer[great news source, btw]) but I went back two or three pages and .....none really popped out at me. I do see alot of LE attacked by drug dealers though, but hey that doesnt prove YOUR point though, does it.

Hey Cru, post a link of those "drug dealing cops", would ya? I seem to have missed those headlines. You'd think a cop dealing drugs would get some airtime over a drunk cop at a mettalica concert. But thats all I seem to see.
03/29/09 @ 5:59 pm
You'd be taken a little more serious if you took the photo of the tern smoking a joint out of your blog. It makes you seem like you're 15. I'll bet you wear a jean jacket with a big marijuana leaf done up in blue ball point pen, too.
03/27/09 @ 7:16 am
Hey Bitter....It's public knowledge. Why dont you want to know who's been arrested, and for what? Commit a crime in public, let the public know who you are. A little humiliation is a good thing, might make them (and others) think next time. Unless, of course, YOUR mug is up there... now I see why you're upset.

Pot takes anxiety away.
Big business (especially liquor) THRIVES on human anxiety.

That's why you have stinking Republicans like Senator Scott Brown cashing in on a chance to make a name for himself with this issue.

If you overdose on pot, you fall asleep.

If you overdose on alcohol, YOU DIE.

Maybe "skull and bones" really does control the world.

And when you are operating heavy equipment, driving a school bus, operating a car- Falling asleep is definitely better!

Oh, Dickey, you are a piece of work. In another blog, you state "let the past be in the past, and look forward" or some dribble like that. And then you start throwing rocks again at the GOP. Do you actually read what you write, or do you just bounce around like a butterfly on heroin? (cant wait to see some witty comeback...) BTW, you never finished our conversation on legalizing dope, because we in LE are so corrupt. Do you often wonder where the strawberries went, like Mr. Queeg?
02/19/09 @ 8:00 am
Ah, need a pat on the back, do you Dick? Good job sport. Never heard of a defense attorney taking a high profile case pro bono, just to get their name out there. Oh yeah, and good job on your friend winning that case, too. he probably has 5- 6 cases he's working on, and has months/years to exaimine the case, whereas the prosicutor has a few weeks to hone up, and has 20 to 30 cases standing for trial.
02/18/09 @ 2:19 pm
Talk about hijacking a thread. I have a headache now.
02/17/09 @ 5:37 pm
Oh Dick, here is another analogy for ya...
Back in the late 1800's and early 1900's, many persons who were arrested/ institutionalized for mental health reasons, were ultimately sent to the Northampton "insane asylum" (later changed to Northampton State Hospital) for help, because law enforcement and the court systems were overloaded, and ill equiped to provide help. Fast forward to 1992-95, and the state hospital(s) were releasing more patients than they were taking in. Now, all those pateints that were released? They are now being handled by the Police departments surrounding that area. What goes around comes around. So much for providing help to those who need help (rehab, etc..) Theres an old saying...Those who do not learn from the past, are doomed to relive it. Your pie in the sky rehab/ medical dream for addicts, is strangely similiar to the old State hospitals. "They dont need prison, they need rehab and medical assistance". Yup. Right up until someone figures out that it is a bottomless problem that takes voracious amounts of money- then well close them up.
02/16/09 @ 1:41 pm
Yes old supply and demand indeed -there's more heroin on the streets now, at lower prices despite our spending increasing amounts of tax money, billions of dollars, for drug law enforcement. So do the math, Soup.

Dick- the amount of heroin on the street has nothing to do with Law Enforcement.. It has everything to do with who is over in the country that supplies it...Afganistan. And no, the military isn't bringing it over, which I'm sure will be the spin that YOU will put on it. It has everything to do with the privitized companies that are supporting the military, and have the ability to come and go with little supervision.
02/16/09 @ 12:04 pm
And dont preach to me about "pushers", pushing drugs on people. People seek those drugs out, no one is pushing them on anyone. This is all about the addictive personalities of people. Are you trying to say that legalizing alcohol solved the problem? Are you saying that there are no half way houses or rehab facilities that cater to alcohol abuse? You say "controlled legalized sales". Like Oxy-contin? Percocet? etc. etc... Those legalized sales (Rx) are doing wonders. How about the kids that are Huffing paint cans behind their parents shed? Chugging Nyquil by the pints? Oh, and by the way, Mr. smarter than thou, Heroin is selling on the streets at $3.00 to $5.00 a bag. It used to sell for $35.00. You can get a 1/2 gram for $35.00 now. Simple supply and demand. And the reason those Opium dens are still around, is because attorneys like YOU have made it more difficult for law enforcement to do their job, because YOU are making a buck to get your client off a charge with motions, etc. And then you preach "law enforcement does nothing..." You are a serious piece of work.
02/16/09 @ 9:55 am
As and aside Dick, Is your theory that if drugs were legalized, fewer people will be attracted to it? Do you even understand the addictive quality of Heroin/ Oxy/ Percocet/ you pick the drug of choice. ? You paint a very broad swipe of the brush with your theory.
Lets try this example. Speeding was "decriminalized" (I know it is a civil charge, but for an example) No one would get a speeding ticket, no matter what their speed was. Will that make people slow down? The only thing that stops people from speeding (beside common sense) is the fear of being caught and ticketed.
02/16/09 @ 9:47 am
Hey Dick, same question, but let me add this. You live next door, with your 8 and 12 year old child, to a house that is known to have drug activity. Heroin, to be precise. In your perfect world, Heroin is legal. You OK with that? You feel safe? Let your kids play in the same cul-de-sac that the customers of this house use? Park your BMW X5 with your XM radio next to the customer's dented and mangled 1989 toyota corrolla with blown out windows? I have a feeling you are in your gated community, looking down from your emerald throne. You are a perfect example of NIMBY. You want it, but not at your expense.
02/16/09 @ 9:03 am
Bitter- let me ask you this. If you lived next door to a house that had a ton of drug activity, which leads to thefts, are you going to just chaulk it up to "kids being kids" and then ultimately blame the cops for this activity? or are you going to call the cops to get some help and make it stop. ?
02/16/09 @ 7:10 am

In response to: Your town government at work, NOT!
I love how everyone jumps on the bandwagon and says that town/state government does nothing/gets something...I recently had to deal with customer service in the private sector. That was a joy and a half. When I complained (to the parent company)that I got abysmal service at Town Fair tire, I was told to "go somewhere else if I was unhappy". The manager is still there, and treated another freind of mine like $4it. My complaints fell on deaf ears. Customer service in the private sector can/does suck too, and there is no accountablity.
