Bill, I hope you are ready for the heat which comes with the kitchen.
I've heard you speak for years, and know that you will rub many the wrong way, but this is the only really open, unedited forum on Cape Cod and a perfect place for your view.
Expect the barbarians to be pounding on the fates, but illegitimi non carborundum.

In response to: Boston Globe urges President to back Cape Wind
The Globe has heard the hysterics this week similar to when JFK died and Congress changed the name of Cape Canaveral to Cape Kennedy in the grief of the moment.

It took Florida years to reclaim their own heritage.

The Globe simply is doing what a responsible media should do and speak truth to power.

Whenever a prominent person nears their end, as regrettably Mrs. Shiver may be doing today, the media publishes the most recent photos in their files of the person.
It is so refreshing to see cc2day do the opposite, and publish photos of her at her zenith during and just after the Camelot years.
Your two photos of Eunice show this lovely lady at her remembered best and not at her least attractive and most enfeebled.

As a long-time Christy supporter I was shocked at the unmitigated lies and fabrications mouthed by that FOX wingnut Morris.

I was really shocked last night.

Nothing these phony Indians have done is as asinine as claiming they buried their dead on Horseshoe Shoals and thus four hundred years later America shouldn't build a wind farm there.
Where was their anger at the destruction caused on the shoals and the entire sound by dredging for the past century.
This is another kiss-ass to Godfather Ted and his consigliere Dulahunt to curry favor with their new masters.
07/09/09 @ 7:58 am
Hey lottabaloney, I think Ted just beat me to it.
Ain't it strange how guys go from the government regulatory agency (his position as Secretary of Health and Human Services) right into the very industry he swore to regulate for the good of the people.
Like Ted says, we deserve Baker.
07/09/09 @ 7:43 am
The old army alphabet code was "Able, Baker, Charlie...", but Baker, Charlie, is one dude who is NOT able.
His campaign slogan should be,
"From that wonderful guy who brought you today's health insurance debacle."

Wow! Talk about out of touch egoism.

Luckily dissent is still allowed here, thanks mostly to the Democratic Party.

Truro has the highest per capita number of police in the state - 15 for 1,500+ residents - that's one for each 100 taxpayers.
What per cent of the town budget is that? And shouldn't Truro expect competence for that cost?
The town must be a veritable crime capital to warrant that concentration of fuzz.

What about McCain and Richardson endorsing Cape Wind?
Richardson played in the CCBL and the wind farm is the ONLY local angle in this year's presidential race, and the Times is ignoring it !
Wonder why?

Sammy, you forget, the rich people and trophy home owners who are spending $15 million to staop America's first offshore wind farm can afford $3 for gas.

This recognition news is very depressing. It will mean a casino near the cape, which will mean more crime, more substance abuse, and more traffic. Deval Patrick is doing what he has to by sucking up to the new, powerful interest group and pretending to "study" whether there should be a casino.

In response to: Get on the Cape Cod Peace Bus! Say No to War!
The woman's right - according to a business article in the January 16, 2007 International Herald Tribune "Cost of raq war ($1.2 trillion) changes economic perspectives" For starters, $1.2 trillion would pay for an unprecedented public health campaign — a doubling of cancer research funding, treatment for every American whose diabetes or heart disease is now going unmanaged and a global immunization campaign to save millions of children's lives.

Combined, those programs wouldn't use up even half of our money pot. So we could then turn to poverty and education, starting with universal preschool for every three- and four-year-old child across the country. The city of New Orleans could also receive a huge increase in reconstruction funds.
Other economists believe the cost will EXCEED 2 TRILLION.

In response to: Bush: Born Again On Global Warming?
Yesterday, a friend and I flew back to sunny Florida from frigid Philadelphia. We put our carry-on stuff on the X-ray conveyor and we passed thru the metal detector (my belt buckle flunked) without a significant incident.

On the retrieval side of the X-ray machine my friend was advised to wait as the contents of her bag needed some looking into. After a few minutes the inspector arrived ... a Muslim woman dressed in full head scarf and tunic. To say the least, we were taken aback.

Congress was able to keep Dubai from managing our ports alright, but couldn't keep an Al Qaeda look-alike from peering into our privates. Next thing you know, we'll be offering the enemy Social Security and Medicare in an heroic and patriotic endeavor to show them that not only does democracy really work, it pays, too.

Next time we fly, I'm going to peer into the cockpit with more than idle curiosity.

Let's ban glass windows on houses and kill all the cats to save the birds while we're eating chicken and turkey

As your reporter Jack Coleman wrote here monthes ago, it was Deval Patrick's early endorsement of the Cape Wind project which set him apart from the "politics as usual" crowd which takes orders from Hyannisport, and it also won him the early caucuses on Cape Cod.

Ageing, impaired Ted Kennedy should "get a life". Forget your ocean view and join the voters who have supported you for four decades in supporting ANY renewable energy idea which lessens our dependence on Arab Oil !!!

Dick, we've had an "All Volunteer Army" for decades, ever since that last unjust and evil war - remember Viet Nam?

These are not draftees inducted against their will, but professional warriors who knew exactly what they could possibly get into.

Ask every tenth person you meet over the next week what they think of the Iraq War II and you've have a better idea of where the voters will be in November... or ask Joe Lieberman. His Hartford CT number is (860) 549-8463.

On the other hand, it would have been better for your candidacy if this GOP President had emulated Reagan and invaded a country we might be able to conquer like Panama or Granada.
