Be nice to a tourist this week

"Everyone here was once a Tourist"*

That's what an old Cape Cod Chamber slogan reminded us when we were a less crowded than we are today.

But tourism is still Cape Cod's #1 industry, and brings in a majority of our annual income.

It all really begins next weekend, a three day event ending on Memorial Day.

The real scandal

We claim to support them. We have special events they cannot attend because they are off in foreign countries. We give honors to those of them who may have done something that creates a political photo op. We use them as pawns in our game of out-patrioting our neighbors. Our politicians use them as guilt trips against their opponents.

Guys, get a grip

 

So the GOP receives copies of the emails related to Benghazi, and then releases edited versions that make it look like the White House had done something to cover up its activities. Millions are spent on hearings, and, in spite of knowing the truth and their own actions, people like Darrel Issa pretend they are taking the high road for the American people.

Pre-emptive fear

WOW!

I mean, just, WOW.

Either the Republicans know Hillary Clinton is a formidable potential opponent, or they realize they have no one presidential in the ranks.

Here she hasn't even declared yet, and the Republican Party is doing everything it can to make it impossible for Clinton to run in 2016.

Bruins/Rangers Preview

Tonight is the start of the next series for the Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers. The winner goes to the conference finals for a shot at the Stanley Cup.

Military Suicides and AntiDepressants

Readers know quite well my views regarding the irresponsible use and administration of antidepressants in our society.

While out of state in court, I read yet another troubling piece this AM in the NYTimes regarding the alarming increase in the suicide rate in the military. One thread in the piece was disturbing; albeit not surprising. One example: "After his death, she began to uncover clues. Medical records showed that despite his denials about PTSD, the Marine Corps had treated him for the disorder, including by prescribing him antidepressants".
