Join BLT, Sandy Neck Park Manager and naturalist Nina Coleman, and Mass Audubon’s Ian Ives in search of the threatened Diamondback Terrapin, a species that has been studied extensively on Sandy Neck. This turtle inhabits the tidal creeks of Barnstable Harbor and utilizes the dunes for nesting. July is the start of nesting season and turtle trails in the sand are common. With careful observation, and a little luck, a female terrapin will be spotted in the dunes. Learn how hatchlings survive in the harsh environment. To register, call Jodie Montoya at 508-362-7475, ext. 9355.
