Fiction 101: Intro to Creative Writing with Corey Farrenkopf and Gabrielle Griffis

Modeled after college level creative writing classes, we will explore multiple elements of short story and novel writing techniques. Among them will be Abstract vs. Concrete Writing, Big vs. Small Mysteries, Character Development and its Relation to Plot, Editing, Publishing, and many more. As a class we will read and discuss contemporary and classical literature that pertains to the day’s topic, complete tailored writing prompts, and work through exercises designed to demonstrate these specific techniques. This class is designed for anyone with an interest in developing a strong foundation for their fiction writing or for experienced writers who are  looking for a refresher course on the basics. Ages sixteen and up.  Please register for each  session online, on the program calendar at www.brooksfreelibrary.org or by calling the library at 508-430-7562.
