Don't miss this great time for a great cause!
Are you ready for something to warm you up after the winter chill? Feel the heat at the 9th Annual MDA Firefighter Chili Challenge on March 10, 2013 at the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis! With four live bands, Pixy 103FM on site, face painting, hot dogs, awards, and of course TONS of Chili there will be something to satisfy everyone’s taste! The benefit has been a huge success and going into its 9th year thanks to the support of the committee members: Chris Read of Yarmouth Fire, Chris Shute of Mashpee Fire, Matt Mills of Hyannis Fire, Doug Edmunds of Orleans Fire and Matty B from Pixy103FM. Last year the event reached its goal of raising $20,000 for MDA thanks to our Chili Teams, Sponsors, and over 1200 guests!
The 2013 contending teams come from all over Massachusetts! We have teams from Shrewsbury, Barnstable, West Barnstable, Eastham, Taunton, Plymouth, COMM, Hopedale, Orleans, Harwich, Brewster, Douglas, Braintree, and Hull Fire Departments! They are putting in their all to make their best Chili and bring some creative booths this year so make sure you come out and vote!
Our Firefighter Chefs will prepare and serve their original recipes to be judged in the following categories: Chef’s Cup, Peter Raiskio Memorial People’s Choice Award, Hottest Chili, and Best Booth Display. Awards, and bragging rights, will be given to the winning teams at the end of the event. The Chef’s cup voting will be done by a blind taste testing from our Judge Panel which will include: Chef Ricardo Costa, Personal Chef, and Chef Tommy Lyons from “The Picnic Box”, and Chef John Cottaless. Last Year’s Awards went to Wareham Fire for People’s Choice, Blackstone Fire took Chef’s Cup and Best Booth Design, and Orleans took hottest chili!
The event will take place from 12:00PM until 4:00PM at the Resort and Conference Center of Hyannis on 35 Scudder Ave, across from the Melody Tent.
Four bands: ChainDrive, Shattered, Incinr8 and Tomorrow’s Hangover will perform live.
The $15 general admission will include plenty of chili, voting privileges, a cash bar, great entertainment, and chances to win door prizes such as a two night stay at the Resort and Conference Center or Two Passes to Gunstock Mountain by Cisco Brewers! Children under thirteen years of age will be admitted for free!
All proceeds will go to the local MDA office benefiting 950 families living in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts with neuromuscular diseases. MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat neuromuscular diseases through worldwide research, comprehensive services, and professional and public health education. The Chili Challenge is being sponsored by PIXY 103FM, FrankFM, Yarmouth House Restaurant, Red Face Jacks, Advanced Embroidery, Perkins Paper Co., Walgreens of Mashpee, Merrimack Engraving & Marking Co., Randy Hunt CPA, Run to The Top, Mass Attack Roller Derby and Cisco Brewers.
