YARMOUTH - This past weekend, according to a Yarmouth police release, officers responded to three separate and violent domestic attacks at motels in town.
Just after 9 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance in a room at the Cavalier Motel on Route 28 in South Yarmouth. Upon arrival, the officers determined that drinking had fueled an argument leading to physical aggression. Maureen A. Rivieccio was determined to be the aggressor and was placed under arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and battery and transported to the Yarmouth Police Department. She was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday.
At 11:50 a.m., Saturday morning, police responded to a 911 call at the Yankee Village Motel on Route 28 in West Yarmouth. The female caller had told the dispatcher that she had been struck by her boyfriend. Upon arrival, officers found the victim and her boyfriend walking together nearby. The two had been living together at the motel, according to police. During a fight, the victim's boyfriend, identified as Steven Michael Grover, struck the victim, who is pregnant, in the head with her purse.
Grover was arrested and charged with felony assault and battery on a pregnant person and felony assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (purse). Grover was processed at the Yarmouth Police Station and was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday.
At 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to what was initially reported as a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at the Castle Dawn Motel on Route 28 in West Yarmouth. Yarmouth Fire/Rescue also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, both units found a group of people gathered in the parking lot at the rear of the motel. Police soon learned that the call was in fact a domestic incident.
When interviewed, the victim, who refused medical attention at the scene, told police she and her on again, off again boyfriend of two years had been drinking and arguing the night before. The argument had turned physical when the suspect, identified as Sidney D. Paulson, 59, pushed the victim to the floor, according to police. When Paulson threatened the woman with a menacing gesture, she threatened to call police. Paulson threw a trash barrel at the victim and instead struck and broke a window in the motel room.
When Paulson left the room and attempted to drive away, the victim was knocked to the ground, police said. The victim grabbed onto the car, trying to stop him, but Paulson pushed her off the car and drove away, according to police.
Paulson is currently wanted by Yarmouth police. When arrested, he will face charges of assault and battery, two counts of felony assault by means of a dangerous weapon and felony assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
Anyone with information Paulson or his whereabouts is encouraged to contact Patrol Officer Jason Batchelder at 508-775-0445, ext. 2365.
