Sheriff's Office's blood drive set for tomorrow, January 14th
Barnstable County Sheriff James M. Cummings’s office will be hosting a blood drive tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility (BCCF) in Bourne. The facility is located just outside the Bourne gate to the Massachusetts Military Reservation, which is near the Bourne National Cemetery.
Walk-ins are welcome. They have contributed to the Office’s six prior blood drives and so “make a positive difference in an activity where the need is always critical,” Sheriff Cummings noted. “We’re hoping for another strong turn-out both from walk-ins and from our own staff. Employees have been a reliable pool of donors in the past and I’m sure they will be again.”
The blood drive’s other sponsor is the C-Lab at Cape Cod Hospital. This guarantees that all blood collected on Friday will stay on Cape.
Donors should park in the lot designated for visitors and enter BCCF’s front lobby.
To get to the facility, take Route 28 (either direction) into the town of Bourne. At the Massachusetts Military Reservation rotary, follow signs leading to the base and to the Bourne National Cemetery. Once past the cemetery entrance (on your right), make the clearly marked U-turn just before the base gate. Those with base access and who enter at the Falmouth or Sandwich gate should exit at the Bourne gate and take an immediate right once they’re off base.
