The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts calls for nominations for the Chaplin Award
Award for outstanding efforts to preserve open space on Cape Cod
Nominations due April 30, 2009
Named in honor of The Compact’s founding President, Ansel B. Chaplin of Truro, this award is intended to recognize and celebrate significant work conducted by an individual or group of persons to increase the amount and quality of legally protected conservation or parkland in Barnstable County. The award could be for a single major project or a lifetime of dedication to the cause of open space. We are particularly interested in honoring volunteers who have inspired others to join the cause. Land trust board members, staff or volunteers are encouraged, as are public officials, government employees, corporate leaders or funders.
Please submit a short note (by fax, email or letter to address below) suggesting who and why the nominee is being recommended and explaining some of the nominee’s significant achievements. Nominees submitted by the deadline date of April 30 will be referred to The Compact’s Nominating Committee for screening and recommendation. The Compact’s Board of Directors will vote on the recommendation at its 21 May meeting.
The winner will be notified and honored at our Annual Meeting this summer and announced to the public at that time. Nominees not selected for this year will automatically be reconsidered for the next year, without the need for resubmission. We will also be considering nominees submitted in previous years in this round; you need not resubmit last year’s nominees unless there is new compelling evidence of their work and worth!
