Local police, organizations and schools to take part along side businesses

MAIN STREET, HYANNIS —The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District (BID) is organizing their 2nd spring community clean up on Main Street and in the downtown Hyannis area on May  4, 2009. The BID is collaborating with Barnstable Police Officer Mark Delaney, as well as many of the local schools and social service groups to make the cleanup successful.

The clean up will take place from 10 a.m to 12 p.m., with a gathering on the Village Green immediately afterward for refreshments and "thank yous".  The institutions that are volunteering their time are: Barnstable High School, Sturgis Public Charter School, Pope John Paul II High School, Baybridge Clubhouse, Community Connections, Champ Homes, and possibly Cape Abilities

Aside from the more than 100 volunteers that will be participating, the merchants on Main Street will also be cleaning up their store-fronts.
