Geek Girls donate $1,500 to the Cape Cod Chapter of the American Business Women Scholarship Fund
ABWA currently seeking nominations or requests for scholarships
At a Networking Social | Social Networking event for Geek Girl Camp, recently held in Hyannis, Geek Girl Camp founder and ABWA member Leslie Fishlock handed a check for $1,500 to Denise Dever, President of the Cape Cod Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) in support of its Education Scholarship Fund.
"What a great evening we had with the Geek Girls! I want to let you all know that our ABWA Chapter received a very generous $1,500 check towards our Education Scholarship Fund. Please join me in sending our gratitude and thanks to Geek Girl Camp founder and ABWA member Leslie Fishlock," said Denise Dever.
According to Leslie Fishlock, Geek Girl Camp is all about empowering and educating women in all forms of computer technology. Their entire mission is all about "giving back" and "paying it forward". "Raising money from our Boot Camp Cape Cod 2009 for women's scholarships and partnering with the ABWA is a perfect example of that and we are so proud to be able to support their invaluable Education Scholarship Fund. We hope to continue this tradition with ABWA in the future; it is such a perfect fit, " said Fishlock.
The ABWA is currently looking for nominations or requests for scholarships. In 2009, the ABWA plans to fund three scholarships of $1,500 each.
