Gosnold to host forum on intervention in Wellfleet on June 18th

Attendees will learn about addiction and how intervention can help

Gosnold Reaching Out program will host a forum called “EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT INTERVENTION-(but were afraid to ask)”, Thursday, June 18, from 5:30-7:30pm, the at the Wellfleet Council on Aging, 715 Old King's Highway in Wellfleet.  Attendees will learn about the illness of addiction, its effects on them and their loved ones and how intervention can help.

For each individual suffering from the disease of addiction, four to six people in their lives are also profoundly affected.  Family members and loved ones can become lost in the chaos that surrounds an addicted person and all experience fear, anger, mistrust and shame.  The Gosnold Reaching Out program has helped over 750 individuals since its inception a year ago, a true testament to how crucial the program is.

The program will feature a mock intervention played out by Gosnold staff members.  Interventions, structured and carefully planned meetings between the addicted person and concerned family members and friends, have proven to be an effective way to communicate and motivate addicted persons to enter treatment.

The presentation will be followed by an open discussion with a panel of experts from Gosnold to answer questions.  Light refreshments will be served.  All community members are encouraged to attend this free program.  More information can be obtained by calling 508-540-6550, ext. 295.
