Chatham Parent Teacher Organization sponsors blood drive this week

Give blood July 7th & 9th in Chatham

The Chatham Parent Teacher Organization is proud to announce that is will sponsor a blood drive July 7th & 9th at Chatham Elementary School. Working with Children's Hospital Boston and its Bloodmobile, this effort is being coordinated to help support Emily Coughlin, a preschool student here in Chatham who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Many of us know Emily and her family but who we don't know are the thousands of other "Emilys" who are also battling serious illnesses each day. Donating blood is just one way we can all help to support them in their fight.

Did you know that one whole blood donation can support the needs of up to four patients at Children's Hospital Boston?

Please consider joining us for this special initiative. It will only take 30 minutes of your time and the results of helping someone are priceless!

Mark Your Calendars for:

  • Tuesday, July 7th, Noon - 6pm, Chatham Elementary School
  • Thursday, July 9th, Noon - 6pm, Chatham Elementary School

The bloodmobile will be set up in the parking lot. To encourage parents of young children to donate blood, Chatham School Teachers, assisted by Chatham National Honor Society students are offering free child care for anyone who is donating blood. Children will be cared for in the elementary school gymnasium.

Appointments are being scheduled every 15 minutes. To make your appointment, please contact Jennifer Thibeault at 508-246-4416. Walk-ins are also welcome although advance registration is strongly encouraged.

Things to remember:

  • You must weigh at least 110 lbs.
  • You have to be 17-years of age or older or 16-year-olds may donate  with a CHB signed consent from parent(s)
  • Tattoo and piercing must be at least 1 year old
  • Positive ID required

Business and community donations of snacks, waters, crayons and coloring books for the free childcare are welcomed.  To donate supplies, or for any questions, please call Jen Huckman 508-237-4962.

In advance, the Chatham PTO thanks you for supporting this endeavor!
