Workshop for seniors struggling with loss announced in Sandwich
Free, six week writing workshop offered
Beacon Hospice and Sandwich Council on Aging is offering “Healing our Hearts, Transforming our Losses, a six- week writing workshop for seniors struggling with loss. The workshop will meet once a week for 6 weeks, Fridays from 10-11:30 am, Fridays, October 9, 2009 through November 13, 2009. There is no fee for this workshop.
As the challenge of loss enters our lives, we grieve those losses. If you have lost a friendship, a job, a beloved pet, an important relationship, a home, or a limiting aspect of your health, then you have felt grief. Through writing and storytelling we will share our loses and use the power we have to write new chapters.
Writing is an art form that is accessible to all. It is free and can be done alone or with others. You do not have to know how to spell to write. Please join us. As we listen to each other’s stories, we recognize we are not alone. As we tell our stories, we recognize our strengths.
The facilitator is Jackie Powers, MSW, LCSW, Beacon Hospice Bereavement Coordinator, and certified by Amherst Artists and Writers. Pre-registration is required. Please call Jackie Powers at 508-778-1622, email jpowers@beaconhospice.com, or the Sandwich COA at 508-888-4737.
The Sandwich Council on Aging is located at 270 Quaker Meetinghouse Road in East Sandwich.
