New support group to be offered in Eastham: The Daughters of Alzheimer's

Six-week program begins September 22 at the Eastham Senior Center

Beacon Hospice and the Eastham Senior Center  is offering  The Daughters of Alzheimer’s,   a six week support group for daughters who are lovingly caring for parents with Alzheimer’s.

The journey with Alzheimer’s begins with the diagnosis.  The feelings of loss are immediate, and each person’s grief is unique.  As members of the group share their common experiences, the fear and the confusion of this disease will give way to courage, clarity and perhaps even a sense of humor will show up.   Living with Alzheimer’s is a difficult experience for the family, but it can be a meaningful and healing experience.

The group will use storytelling and writing as tools in the art of self-care as you face the daily experience of caretaking a loved one.

This group is open to the entire Cape Cod Community.

Group will be facilitated by Jackie Powers, MSW LCSW, Beacon Hospice Bereavement Coordinator.

Pre-registration is requested to insure ample literature for all attendees.  To register, contact Jackie Powers at 508-778-1622 or  jpowers@beaconhospice.com.  Harbors of Hope is the bereavement program of Beacon Hospice that offers support to the Cape Cod Community from Bourne to Provincetown.

All services of the Harbors of Hope Program are free to the Cape Cod Community.

The Eastham Senior Center is located at 1405 Nauset Road in North Eastham.
