Cape Wind officials win award from American Society of Civil Engineers

Best Feature Article Award given to Olmsed, Rodgers

Cape Wind Vice President of Project Development Craig Olmsted and Communications Director Mark Rodgers were both given the 2009 award for the Best Feature Article Award  this week by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

The article, "The Cape Wind Project in Context" was coauthored by Olmsed and Rodgers and appeared in the July 2008 Special Issue, Engineering Strategies for Global Climate Change, of Leadership and Management in Engineering, published by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

"It is a great honor to be recognized in this way by the American Society of Civil Engineers and I think it speaks to the great interest in offshore wind power in the U.S." - Mark Rodger

The award was presented at the Annual Awards Dinner of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section at the Marriot Hotel in Boston on September 15, 2009.

The article is available for download here.

Cape Wind Communications Director Mark Rodgers noted that, "It is a great honor to be recognized in this way by the American Society of Civil Engineers and I think it speaks to the great interest in offshore wind power in the U.S."

Cape Wind's proposal to build America's first offshore wind farm on Horseshoe Shoal would provide three-quarters of the electricity used on Cape Cod and the Islands from clean, renewable energy - reducing this region's need to import oil, coal and gas. Cape Wind will create new jobs, help stabilize electric costs, contribute to a healthier environment, increase energy independence and establish Massachusetts as a leader in offshore wind power.
