Cape Cod and Islands Commission on the Status of Women seeks 13th commissioner

Newly established commission seeks to fill final position

The newly established Cape Cod and Islands Commission on the Status of Women is in need of one more commissioner and is asking anyone who is interested in filling this position to contact Janice Barton, Chair of the Commission at jbartonccicsw@gmail.com
or 508-648-1918 (please leave a message) for an application form.

The CCICSW was established by legislation in January of 2009 with the support of Cape legislators including Senate President Therese Murray, Senator Robert O’Leary, and Representative Sarah Peake.  The legislation calls for the board of thirteen commissioners to hear input, collect data, and propose solutions for issues that primarily impact women within Cape Cod and the Islands.

The purpose of the Commission is to advance women toward full equity in all areas of life and to promote rights and opportunities for all women.  The mission of the Cape Cod and Islands Commission on the Status of Women is to provide a permanent, effective voice for women across Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties that facilitates and fosters community  and inclusiveness among women.  The Commission stands for fundamental freedoms, basic human rights and the full enjoyment of life for all women throughout their lives.   The Commission is encouraging applicants with diverse backgrounds.
