Red Cross offers Babysitter Instructor Training in Hyannis
Participants must be at least 16 years of age
The American Red Cross, Cape Cod and Islands Chapter, will offer a Babysitter Instructor training class on November 7, 2009 at the Chapter House on 286 South Street in Hyannis.
The course runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The class is designed to train instructor candidates to teach the basic-level Babysitter’s Training course. This course prepares instructor candidates to use program materials, conduct training sessions and evaluate the progress of course participants. Cost of the course is $100. All participants will receive a reference handbook and a first aid kit. To enroll, call 508-775-1540.
Participants must be at least 16 years of age on or before the training session, possess a Fundamentals of Instructor Training Certificate issued within the last year or possess a current national Health and Safety Services Instructor Authorization Certificate, and successfully complete the instructor pre-course self-study and the pre-course session. This includes demonstrating competency in the pre-course skills.
In order to achieve certification, participants must:
- Successfully complete the instructor precourse self-study and the precourse session.
- Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.
- Successfully complete class activities, including the required practice-teaching assignments.
- Score at least 80 percent (16 correct answers out of 20 questions) on the Babysitter’s Training Instructor course final written exam.
