Alzheimer Caretakers Support Group begins in January 2010 in Dennis
Support group is geared towards family, friends and professional caregivers
Beacon Hospice and Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center will host an Alzheimer Caretakers Support Group for family, friends and professional caregivers. The focus of this group is to provide mutual emotional support and education regarding the special challenges that caregivers experience.
The group will provide speakers, information and tools to help those who care for others to practice self-care. The group’s first speaker on January 14, 2010 at 2:30 pm will be Sonja Brewer, author of “Surviving Normal,” a 7-year chronicle of Ms. Brewer’s experience with the disease of Alzheimer’s.
The group will continue to meet monthly, Thursdays at 2:30 pm at Eagle Pond, 1 Love Lane, Dennis, MA.
The group will be facilitated by Jackie Powers, MSW LCSW, Beacon Hospice Bereavement Coordinator.
