Yarmouth Port Library Fund remembers hard-working trustee

Endowment fund created to honor the memory of the late B. Scott Price

A Yarmouth Port Library endowment fund has been created to honor the memory of the late B. Scott Price, who served the Library as trustee, Vice President of the Yarmouth Library Association, and valued member of the Finance Committee.  Price, who passed away on January 2nd, was also instrumental in working out the agreement with the Town of Yarmouth that led to the Library becoming an independent public library as of July 1, 2009.

The Library’s Board of Trustees voted at its January meeting to establish the fund with the numerous memorial donations made by Scott Price’s many friends and colleagues, supplemented by funds raised for the endowment in the Library's ongoing Preservation Fund Campaign.  Price (on right) had been active for many years in the investment business before his retirement in 1990, so the fund will support the purchase of investment and finance materials for the Library.

“It was an obvious unanimous decision,” said Les Peat, President of the Yarmouth Library Association.  “Scott was very dedicated to the Library and a tireless supporter, always ready with a pat on the back and a word of encouragement.  Without his work on the Finance Committee and wise counsel in our negotiations with the town, the Library would probably not exist today.”

Anyone wishing to contribute to the Price Fund should send a donation to the Yarmouth Port Library, 297 Main Street, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675.
