Cape Cod Volunteers to sponsor first Serve-A-Thon October 22

Open to all nonprofits and interested volunteers

Cape Cod Volunteers announces its first Serve-A-Thon. This unique event will allow groups of 4-6 volunteers to perform services for 4-5 hours with nonprofits such as hospitals, schools, museums, parks, food pantries, libraries, and conservation organizations. After the work there will be a free celebration party and dinner.

Each volunteer finds supporters who are willing to donate an amount for every hour that volunteer works (similar to a per mile donation for a charity walk). The nonprofit gets 20-25 volunteer hours, and the proceeds help Cape Cod Volunteers continue its work matching volunteers to meaningful volunteer opportunities and helping nonprofits all over Cape Cod to run more effective volunteer programs. Volunteer groups can be formed by companies, families, friends, or community and social organizations.

“This is a win-win situation,” explained Cape Cod Volunteers President Lisa McNeill, “At a time when nonprofits need help more than ever, many first-time volunteers can fill a need while learning how satisfying helping the community can be. I particularly feel this is a great opportunity for families and friends to work, learn, and celebrate together.”

Interested nonprofits and potential volunteers can get more information about Cape Cod Volunteers and the Serve-A-Thon at www.ccvolunteers.org or by calling Katie Mueller or Lisa McNeill at 508 362-0242. The registration deadline for volunteers is Sunday, October 16.
