The Otis Solution

What to do with the Otis Air National Guard Base

Create the Otis National Golf Course and Wind Farm

As a comment to one of our bloggers (Seneca) points out, the area which we now call the Massachusetts Military Reservation, including Otis ANGB and the Coast Guard Air Station, was originally the Shawme-Crowell State Forest which was leased by the state to the MMR.

Click the map to see how huge Otis & the MMR really are. To get an idea, the green area in Brewster is Nickerson State Park and Otis/MMR must be ten times as large.

Should that lease end, this enormous hunk of Cape Cod becomes a state forest again, and the step to creating a wonderful Otis State Park is a no-brainer. To see how huge it is, click on the map on the right for a shock. Other local parklands are in green.

Our National Defense is blowing in the wind

But why not do something to stop terrorism while we're at it? If we add a wind farm to it as is playfully suggested above, and do that all over America, we won't have to buy oil from the angry Arabs, and we'll be safe from terrorism from at least that part of the globe.
