Cape Cod RTA to Increase Seasonal Service
Now in its sixth season, the Provincetown-No. Truro Shuttle will step up its frequency to 20-minute service, seven days a week, for most of the day through 12:45 a.m. It travels between Highland Light and the campgrounds in North Truro to Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown, stopping at MacMillan Wharf for connections to the Plymouth & Brockton bus and fast ferries to Boston.
On Saturday, the Shuttle will resume service to Provincetown Municipal Airport every 20 minutes from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, thanks to demonstration funding from state, federal and town governments. In last year's inaugural season, 1,050 people used the Shuttle to and from the airport. They were mostly Cape Air passengers flying to and from Boston and Nantucket.
The airport route also includes 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. service to Race Point Beach, the Province Lands Visitor Center in the Cape Cod National Seashore and neighborhoods north of Rte. 6.
Arts Shuttle
Last Friday, the RTA launched a new, once-a-week Shuttle service in Provincetown. Between 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Fridays, an Arts Shuttle will serve East End galleries and museums. Patrons may park and ride the Arts Shuttle from the Benson Young & Downs Insurance Agency and the McHoul Funeral Home - at the corner of Harry Kemp Way and Howland Street.
"We're testing this service at the request of the town and its arts community, " said RTA Administrator Joseph Potzka. "Parking is quite a problem on Friday evenings in the East End. The Arts Shuttle is a good alternative to driving."
Falmouth
Starting Saturday, the WHOOSH Trolley will follow an every-30-minutes schedule, seven days week for the most of the day. Running from 9:30 a.m. to 7:20 p.m., it will travel from Falmouth Mall, via Rte. 28 and Woods Hole Road, to the Steamship Authority ferry dock and other points in Woods Hole. The service will run hourly from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays.
Fares
Shuttle and trolley fares are $1.00, 50 cents for seniors, young people ages 6-17 and people with disabilities. Day passes are $3.00, half that for seniors, young people and people with disabilities. Children five and younger may ride free with a fare-paying adult.
The full RTA system map and timetables are available online at www.TheBreeze.info. The site now includes a link to a translation service that allows users to view the site in languages other than English.
Printed maps will be available at most public locations and literature racks in a new, user-friendly tabloid format.
