Route 39 Detour Starts Today

Queen Anne Road/Route 39 Intersection Improvements will close major roadway for two months or longer

The section of Route 39 and Queen Anne Road around that intersection will be closed for up to three months starting September 19. The detours are shown above. Click on this image to see the map larger.

The  road work associated with the expansion of its Route 137 store in East Harwich − the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Queen Anne Road and Route 39 will begin today and last up to twelve weeks. 

The intersection of Queen Anne Road and Route 39 will be closed to all traffic from 7am until 7am, Monday through Friday during this period, although all local area residents will have access to their homes.  School bus pick-up/drop-off times and locations will not be impacted. 

Review the map above (or click here for a larger version) that outlines the detour routes, which will be in place Monday through Friday from 7am to 7pm.  Road closings and detour signs will be posted on affected streets.

Detour along Depot Street

From Sept. 19 until completion of the road construction, cars traveling along Queen Anne Road from Route 124 and heading to Chatham should take Depot Road to Route 28.  Vehicles coming from Chatham towards Route 6 should take Route 137 to Exit 11, avoiding the Queen Anne Road/Route 39 intersection.

A sign posted along Route 6 will advise drivers to avoid the Queen Anne Road/Route 39 reconstruction.  All traffic headed to Chatham on Route 6 should use Exit 11 (Route 137), rather than Exit 10.

Vehicles traveling on Route 39 should use Chatham Road, Route 28 and Route 137 as a detour to avoid construction at the Queen Anne Road/Route 39 intersection. Local traffic traveling on Queen Anne Road should use Depot Road, Route 28 and Route 137 as a detour route.
