March 2006 Traffic Advisory - Sagamore Bridge
This from the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce & the Canal Region Chamber...
Work is scheduled to resume in mid-March at the north approach to the Sagamore Bridge to complete the remaining work at that location. The lower two- thirds of the approach (Stage 1) was completed last fall, and the remaining upper portion (Stage II) will be completed in March.
The proposed work will begin late Sunday evening on March 12. The work will be completed in three phases, with weekly continuous lane closures over a period of three weeks.
Sunday night to Friday night, the Sagamore Bridge will be one-lane in each direction.
Saturday and Sunday, the Sagamore Bridge will be two lanes in each direction.
The work is scheduled to end by April 8, weather permitting. Estimated time frame for this work is three weeks as long as no storms interfere with the contractor.
The majority of the repairs involves excavating and exposing sub structural components of the bridge and must be completed in one shift resulting in round the clock closures. The repairs include excavating and exposing the upper north abutment and approach slab of the Sagamore Bridge removing deteriorated concrete, sand blasting and repairing the reinforcing steel, forming and pouring rapid setting concrete, setting a new armored bridge joint and making necessary deck repairs.
Please plan accordingly! Further updates will be provided as they become available.
