Ahoy, Mates, It's Time for the Annual Maritime Festival!

Cape Cod Maritime Days Culminates with the 5th Annual Maritime Festival on Sunday, May 21st

Last year's festivities at Aselton Park.

This May, 2006 marks the 13th Annual Cape Cod Maritime Days--a celebration of the Cape's seafaring heritage.  As in the previous years, the celebration culminates with the Annual Maritime Festival to be held this Sunday, May 21st from 11am-4pm at Aselton Park on South Street in Hyannis.

The popular festival, the 5th annual, is a day of history, culture and fun. And by fun, we mean live music, demonstrations, exhibits and fun activities for the kids.  In addition to local artists, crafters, boat builders, museums and historical societies, there will be the following special exhibits: Mishon construction, colonial sail making, livesaving equipment and drills, traditional fishing net repair and the "age old mystery" of getting a ship in the bottle.

Kids will love the moon bounce, juggling, face painting and more.  And what Cape Cod festival would be complete without great food from local merchants?  Don't miss food and drink from Cape Cod Beer, the Island Merchant, Porky's BBQ and Katie's homemade ice cream.

Admission to the festival is $5 per adult. Kids 14 and under are free. Not only does your paid admission get you into the festival, but it also gets you into the Cape Cod Maritime Museum! So take the family down to the Hyannis waterfront for a day of seafarin' fun!

This year's festival is sponsored by HyLine Cruises, Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, Cape Cod Beer, The Island Merchant, and Power Water.

Musical performances:

  • 11am: the festival begins
  • 11:30am: Colum Cille
  • 12pm: Bill Black and Friends Traditional Irish Music
  • 1pm: New Bedford Sea Chantey Chorus
  • 2pm: Colum Cille
  • 2:15: Rum Soaked Crooks
  • 3pm: East Coast Tremors

More scenes from last year's festivities:

Colum Cille Pipes and Drums were the highlight of

up emotions again this year.
