Installation will serve as a demonstration of the state of the art of small wind turbines

ape Cod’s newest wind turbine is being installed at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School during the week of May 15-20, 2006 as part of a Small Wind Installers Workshop being conducted by Cape and Islands Self-Reliance Corporation.
The press and general public are invited to see the new wind turbine at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 20, starting at 1pm.
Upper Cape Tech’s new wind turbine will be turned on during a public commissioning ceremony on May 20, 2006.
The German manufactured Aircon 10 kilowatt wind turbine is being installed on an 80 foot tall, tilt-up, counterbalanced, monopole tower designed by Clean Energy Design, a local renewable energy company. The installation will serve as a demonstration of the state of the art of “small” wind turbines, which are designed to provide power for a home or small business.
The installation will be used as a learning tool for students at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School who are learning how to install and maintain renewable energy systems as part of their curriculum.
Everyone coming onto Cape Cod via the Bourne Bridge will have a clear view of the turbine at the school, which is located at 220 Sandwich Rd., Bourne, MA.
Brief comments by the following individuals, will be followed by a tour of the installation and a question and answer session:
- Megan Amsler, Cape and Islands Self-Reliance
- Dan Dray, Cape Cod Economic Development Council
- Mary Jane Curran, Cape Cod Community College
- Barry Motta, Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School
- Matt Patrick, State Representative
