It’s the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra . . .Again
Yarmouth Port, MA -- The Cape Symphony Orchestra has re-adopted its original name, The Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, according to an announcement made today by Mack Richardson, President and CEO.
The original name, "Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, served this wonderful orchestra very well for over three decades. The time seems to be very appropriate for a return to what was the original intention of the founders and board of trustees and that is - this is Cape Cod's Symphony Orchestra,"said Richardson.
The new name will be accompanied by a new logo that captures the essential elements of the organization's new initials. The name change and new logo are precursors to new programs that the management and Board of Trustees will undertake to enhance the position of the Cape Cod Symphony as the premier performing arts organization on Cape Cod.
"Since there are so many other Capes, both here in Massachusetts and indeed around the region, nation and world, we felt we wanted to embrace our relationship with Cape Cod and make a stronger connection between our organization and our Cape," Richardson commented.
"To that end, we are developing new and even more powerful programs to attract larger and more varied Cape Cod audiences. We are expanding our education programming, whose outreach touches almost all the town school systems on Cape Cod and the Islands. This spring, we collaborated with the CCMA for the Red Violin Events. This is just the start of many more collaborations with other organizations in the Arts community all over Cape Cod," he added. The Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra is a proud participant of the 2006 Passport to the Arts program which offers purchasers the ability to experience Cape Cod's vibrant arts scene. Orleans, Falmouth and Mashpee will be hosting the traditional and highly anticipated Cape Cod summer Pops programs with Maestro Royston Nash conducting the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra. In addition, the Symphony will be offering more group sales, special discounts, and more varied ticket prices so the entire Cape Cod community can enjoy its Symphony Orchestra.
2006-2007 Season
The upcoming season will continue as previously announced with Maestro Royston Nash conducting the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra for the entirety of the 2006-2007 Season. That season begins on September 16-17, 2006, with the inaugural TDBanknorth Classical Concert Series. That weekend's program will include Sir Edward Elgar's Variations on an Original theme, Enigma, and is sponsored in part by U.S. Trust. The Classical Series includes five concerts, culminating on May 5 & 6, 2007. Interspersed will be the CapePops Series, including the extraordinarily popular holiday concert, A Very Merry Pops, on December 2 & 3, 2006.
