Edward Gorey's Dracula exhibit to open in Yarmouth Port in August

Exhibit features original set and costume designs, Tony Awards and more

The new “Edward Gorey’s Dracula” exhibit opens on August 2 and will run until December 17, 2006. The new exhibit includes Gorey’s original set and costume designs, rare production photographs, and Gorey’s Dracula Tony Awards for best revival and best costume designs. The show premiered in Nantucket and then moved to Broadway. Edward Gorey made significant innovative contributions to the theater world in his roles as playwright, producer, director, set and costume designer. His most commercially and critically successful “Edward Gorey’s Dracula” ran on Broadway from 1977 to 1980, with successful national road companies as well as foreign productions.

Summer hours are Wednesday – Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm and Sundays from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm. Visitors may take a self-directed tour of the Gorey House or enjoy the company of one of the volunteer tour guides, many of whom knew Edward personally and are more than happy to share their “Gorey” stories.

Our newly renovated and expanded gift-shop now offers an even wider variety of interesting merchandise.
