Clean Power Now presents Wind Jam 2006 September 23rd

CPN's musical fundraiser will feature Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish

Day-long Benefit Concert/Auction to be held at the Sons of Italy Hall

The 6,000 member grass-roots renewable energy advocacy group Clean Power Now will mount a benefit concert at the Sons of Italy Hall on Route 28 in Mashpee on Saturday, September 23rd from 2:30pm to 10pm. The event, which will include an auction and raffle, will feature the music of Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish and The Rock It Ups.

Renewable energy exhibits will also be on display throughout the event and the popular "Noah's Ark Awards", Clean Power Now's annual tongue-in-cheek awards will once again be given to those individuals and organizations that have, in their own way, done the most to promote or obstruct the forward movement of renewable energy in America.

An all-you-can-eat buffet meal will also be available at the event for a small charge.

Liz Argo, a board member of Clean Power Now and principal organizer of the event, said: "This concert, with two of the Cape's best-known bands, is our way of thanking members and others whose efforts have done so much to keep local renewable energy projects on track in the face of misguided opposition. It's also an opportunity for these supporters to furnish the means for us to continue this vital fight on so many fronts."

The non-profit Clean Power Now was formed in 2003 to support viable renewable energy projects in the region, and specifically to provide the public with information and education on the benefits of such projects. The organization's membership, currently at 6,000, has often been mobilized to convey opinion to legislators on bills in preparation, both in Congress and at the State House.

Tickets for Wind Jam 2006 are $20, in advance  and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from Sept. 1st through 22nd at The Earth House in Orleans, Spinnakers Music on Main St. in Hyannis, and Spinnakers Music on Main St. in Falmouth. Cash only will be accepted at these stores. Tickets can also be bought at the CPN office at 297 North Street, Ste. 322A, until 5pm on Sep 22/

Clean Power Now is a non-profit volunteer organization that informs citizens and empowers them to support viable renewable energy projects and policies, and to secure their local and regional benefits.

Clean Power Now's mission grows from the belief that the timely development of such projects, in conjunction with energy efficiency and conservation, will bring about a clean, healthy environment, an improved economy and a more secure, sustainable America.
