Cape Cod Sea Dogs Wanted

Is your four-legged friend a salty dog?

Cape Cod Maritime Museum is putting together a special exhibition in honor of the MSPCA's "Cape Cod Walk for Animals". The exhibit is called "Cape Cod Seadogs".

Our Cape Cod dogs are salty through and through, so we feel they deserve a little recognition here at the maritime museum!

They always seem to know when you're attempting to hit the water without them - they see the shorts and smell the sun block and bug spray and that's it - there's no way you're leaving the house without them!

We're asking local dog owners to send in a photograph of their favorite dog enjoying life in or on the water. Whether your dog is cruising on a motor yacht or riding the waves on a skiff, or just doing a spot of wading in the shallows, we want to see him! We'll include as many as we can in the exhibit, either on the walls or within the special Cape Cod Seadog photo album.

Send us a photograph or high resolution (300 dpi or more) digital image with the dog's name, when and where the photograph was taken, and a brief description, 60 words or less, of the dog and his nautical activities.

Mail the photograph to us at Cape Cod Maritime Museum, 135 South Street, Hyannis MA 02601, or email it to lchmacort@yahoo.com. Don't forget to include your own contact details.

Please note: All entries MUST be received by September 1st, 2006.

The exhibit will open on Tuesday, September 5th and will end on Sunday, September 17th. On September 10th we're offering special discounted admissions to the museum for all participants in the Cape Cod Dog Walk, and yes, dogs will be allowed into the doggy exhibit!

Cape Cod Maritime Museum is located at 135 South Street in Hyannis, on the eastern edge of Aselton Park, overlooking Hyannis Harbor. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students. Kids 6 and under are free.
