Dennis Chamber helps jump start Heart Safe Program

Money raised for much needed, lifesaving defibrillators

WEST DENNIS - On October 5th, members of the Dennis Chamber's Golf Committee and representatives of Mellon PWM were on hand for the presentation of a check for $5,000 to the Dennis Fire Department's Heart Safe Program.

Left to right: Mark Downey, Jonathan Dipaolo, Mark LeBello, Deputy Chief John Donelan, Melissa Farrell, Jarrad Glennon, Don Vendetti, and Walt McGourty.

The Heart Safe Program buys defibrillators and locates them throughout Dennis and Yarmouth. In the first few crucial minutes of a heart emergency, use of a defibrillator allows treatment to begin before EMTs arrive and can mean the difference between life and death.

This is the 4th year that the Dennis Chamber and the two towns' fire department have work together to raise funds for the program. The Dennis Chamber's Golf Tournament is supported by the town's business community and was sponsored this year by Mellon PWM.

The tournament was held in June at the Dennis Highlands Golf Course followed by an auction at Clancy's Fish and Chips. The presentation to the Yarmouth Fire Department will be made at a later date.
