Chart a course for a ghostly good time
Finding a ghost near you
As the leaves change color, the air grows crisp and Halloween approaches, now is the perfect time to pick up the Cape Cod Haunted Map, a follow up to the very entertaining book, "Cape Encounters".
"Cape Encounters", written by Dan Gordon and Gary Joseph and published in 2004, was a riveting collection of true Cape Cod ghost stories. The tales ranged from spooky to touching--all leaving the reader wanting more. See our review here.
Luckily, more is here. As a follow up, Cockle Cove Press published the Cape Cod Haunted Map this year--a visual treat for everyone from the kind of curious to the avid Cape Cod ghost hunter.
The map pinpoints seventy-two "spirited" locations from Bourne to Provincetown. Look in your town--your next door neighbor just might be of the ghostly persuasion! A red-headed woman in a Victorian gown; a man in a white t-shirt and light blue pants seated in a restaurant; young children and even animals are just a few of the other-worldly inhabitants with whom we share the Cape.
You may surely recognize a tale or two and perhaps be able to add one or two of your own. If I didn't enjoy the supernatural so much, I just might be dismayed by the number of spirits close to my home!
Hang the map on the wall and you've got quite the conversation piece. Kids and adults alike can't tear themselves away once they start reading through the legends and reported sightings.
And if you enjoy a good puzzle--you're in luck! The map contains instructions for a bit of a treasure hunt. Figure it out and you'll be treated to a special secret message on the Cockle Cove Press site.
Be sure to pick up your copy before the 31st and have yourself an extra Happy Halloween!
