Cape Cod Tech Council announces junior tech program workshops
New kids workshops for February vacation
The Cape Cod Technology Council (CCTC) announces a new series of Junior Tech Program workshops for students in grades 5-12. All of these workshops will be held at the Upper Cape Technical School in Bourne.
The Junior Tech Program reaches out to students from grades 5-12 with the goal of exposing, encouraging, building and generating aspiration for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) topics and developing a life long interest.
Mini-Controller
Grades 9 - 12, 2-day workshop - 16 student maximum
Think about all the electronic devices you use every day - cell phones, video game consoles, MP3 players. If you are like most people, you know how to use these devices, but you don't know how they work. Now you can learn how they work! The hands- on projects designed in these two sessions will get you started. You will build your own electronic devices and even learn to write simple computer programs in C language.
Cost: $95 nonmember/$75 member
Dates: Monday, 2/19 & Tuesday, 2/20 from 9am-2pm (lunch included)
Wind Turbine - Kid Wind
Grades 5 - 8, 2-day workshop - 20 student maximum
Study the nature of wind and culminate in the design, construction, and competition of mini- turbines by student teams.
Cost: $95 nonmember/$75 member
Dates: Monday, 2/19 & Tuesday, 2/20 from 9am-3pm (lunch included)
NASA Design Challenge Workshop
Grades 5 - 8, 2-day workshop - 20 student maximum
Did you know that President Bush has set a goal for NASA to return astronauts to the Moon by 2018? This two-day workshop introduces students to the engineering design process to design a prototype (model) of the future Moon Rover. Students will make prototypes for Moon Rover races and concludes with group presentations of their Moon Rover designs. Grades 5 - 8, 2-day workshop - 20 student maximum
Cost: $95 nonmember / $75 member
Dates: Monday, 2/19 & Tuesday, 2/20 from 9am-4pm (lunch included)
Photoshop Skills - Part 1
Grades 6 - 8, 2-day workshop, 12 student maximum
This is an introductory course that will give students a foothold into the endless possibilities of digital imaging.
Cost: $59 nonmember/ $49 member
Dates: Monday 2/19 & Wednesday, 2/21 from 9am-noon
